Chapter 11 - Smile
His White Luna
Alice Forrest
âThe wench is still here then,â Gina said, her voice echoing around me in the corridor.
âIâm a member of this pack Gina, if you like it or not,â I smiled at her kindly.
âWhy donât you leave, go back to your mate, donât think I donât see the mark on your neck. Or does he not want you?â
âHow do you think your own mate will feel about you warming Alpha Blackâs bed?â I asked, turning around to face her.
âI donât have a mate,â she said flicking her hair over her shoulder.
âDonât have? Or havenât found?â I asked raising a brow at the lowly cut dress she was wearing.
âDonât have,â she said with a cocky smile.
âThen I feel bad for you, especially if you think a mated Alpha will make you, his Luna.â
âAlice,â there you are, Jamie said appearing behind Gina with a pile of paperwork, âI the stuff we were talking about this morning,â he said, his eyes darting between the two of us.
âYou have no right to say those things, youâre mated and youâre trying to sleep with him too,â she hissed, her face shifting in displeasure.
âShe dosenât have to try, Alpha Black will willingly drop his pants for Alice,â Jamie chuckled catching onto the conversation and grinning at me.
âShut up Jamie,â I said rolling my eyes as he walked up beside me.
âYou fucking hypocrite, what dose your mate thing about you sleeping with Alpha Black?â
âAm I still good to use my old office? Or has the Alpha repurposed it in my absence?â I said ignoring her and looking at Jamie as I picked up the first file, flicking through the pages.
âYeah, he hasnât touched anything of yours,â Jamie said with a weak smile now, and I could feel his eyes burning on my face, laced with worry and concern.
âAnswer me, Wench!â Gina demanded, stamping her foot on the ground like a child throwing a tantrum.
âIâll meet you in my office in a minute,â I sad, passing the file back to Jamie and redirecting my attention to Gina. âI left my mate, we wanted different things and at the time I wasnât sure that I could deliver on those expectations.â
âWhat?â she said clearly taken back, âPeople donât leave their mates, their wolves would go insane,â she scoffed.
âWell I guess itâs a good thing I have more control over my wolf that she dose of me,â I smiled.
âSo, youâre a fucking runt then?â she scoffed looking down at me.
âNo, but tell me Gina, what have you heard about the Luna? Whatâs the gossip?â
Gina sucked on her cheeks, âI donât know anything, no one talks about her. I would have assumed she was dead, if Alpha Black didnât wear her mark still.â
I smiled, âSo that must make you the only gossip in the pack then,â I laughed, turning around and walking to my office.
âYou know the Luna, donât you,â Gina accused, and I could hear her heeled shoes echoing loudly, behind me.
âWeâve crossed paths,â I murmured.
âWhat, is she locked in the dungeon somewhere? Did the Luna cross the Alpha? Was she banished? Abroad? Kidnapped?â
âYou have quite the over active imagination,â I chucked, descending the stairs and walking towards my office.
âWait, you canât go in there, thatâs the Lunaâs office,â she said, stopping midway down the stairs.
âIt is,â I smirked, âare you going to dob on me? If you want, Beta Jamie is in here, you can tell him Iâm using the Lunaâs office, Iâm sure heâll listen attentively to your concerns,â I smiled seductively running my fingers down the carved wooded door.
Her face soured, but her nose twitched, and she twirled around, âAlpha Black, did you know that someone is using one of the private offices?â she said to Nate as he strutted down the hallway.
âOh, Alice? Yeah, thatâs fine,â he dismissed, walking past her, eyes glued on me. âWhat time do you need to leave tomorrow?â
âI have work at nine, and Iâve got a class so Iâd like to be there a bit before that to prep, and Iâd also like to change, so probably be in the city by eight.â
âWhat? They donât accept ripped jeans at the university?â he chuckled.
âI donât know, Iâve never tried,â I sighed.
âWell, there is a first for everything,â he chuckled, leaning against the closed half of the door and gazing at me shamelessly.
âFive am departure then?â I asked, crossing my arms and looking at him assertively.
âYou look nice.â
âIâll take that as a yes,â I said, rolling my eyes and stepping into the office where Jamie sat in my chair grinning shamelessly.
âCan I come in? Or are you two having secret girl talk?â Nate chuckled as I shooed Jamie from my chair.
âSheâs going through the floor plans for the new houses going up in the new subdivision off Hazel Street,â Jamie laughed.
âOof, no thanks, you can deal with that.â
âYou should talk to Gina,â I said, flicking my head towards the door, âsheâs very territorial of you.â
Nate grumbled and rolled his eyes, and closed the door behind himself, leaving Jamie and I in my office, the sunlight streaming through the sheer curtains, everything the same as when Iâd last been in here, even some of the notes for my thesis proposal still scattered on the desk.
âWhy donât you just tell Gina who you are?â Jamie asked as he leaned against the desk, handing me a file of floor plans.
âBecause that would mean I would be staying,â I said with a smile.
âThis is the happiest heâs been since your tour,â he sighed, running his hand through his hair.
I stared blankly at the file, my eyes running across the words, but my brain didnât absorb a single bit of information, âDonât say things like that,â I replied harshly.
âDonât hurt him, please. I hated seeing him like that, everyone did.â
âI havenât promised I would stay Jamie; I canât promise that I will.â
âThen why fuck him hey? Why string him on?â
âYou canât reject someone after youâve been fully mated Jamie, and I want to be with my mate, Spirits know I do!â I cursed.
âThen what?â Jamie said, his brow furrowed aggressively.
âWhat would you do if Grace killed Nate? Not Alpha Black, your best friend Nathaniel Black? What would you do?â
Jamie opened his mouth before closing it slowly, âYou want to say that youâd stay with Grace, but you canât, you canât actually form the words in your mouth, can you? Theyâre like dirt, no- mud. Do not give me shit Jamie, not you of all people.â
I looked down and the floor plans. âWho the fuck designed this?â I said, flicking to the next page, and the page after this.
âIs that a good reaction or a bad reaction?â Jamie asked, his expression now morbid.
âBad Jamie, this looks like crap, any would perform horribly too.â
