Chapter Seventeen: Returning Home

“Thanks again for having us father.” Brody said hugging his father one last time before getting in the car to head back to Equality. “I should be the one thanking you for bringing light into the castle again.” The king said patting his back.

“I wish we could stay longer but school will be starting again in a couple days.” Brody smiled up at his father. “I know son you have obligations now and they come first but just know as soon as you graduate I am expecting you and your family to move here with me so we can start the proceedings for your crowning.” The king grinned at him.

“No worries father we will be coming back to stay as soon as we can I promise.” Brody said as he started the car. “Take care of my boys.” The king said looking at Bianca. “I will your majesty.” Bianca smiled. “Would you stop calling me that we are family.” He replied.

They all laughed before getting on the road to home. Damien, Lance and Sarah were following in the car behind them because Travis insisted he get to ride back with his niece. Damien tried hard to object and so did Sarah but in the end Travis got his way.

“So Sarah what is it like being part human?” Lance asked turning around to face her. “Um I guess the same as any other creature just not as fast or strong I don’t really know.” She laughed.

Damien shot Lance a look, “Of course you aren’t as fast or strong when you are mixed with such a lowly species.”  Damien smiled at his own remark that was until he glanced back and saw the hurt in Sarah’s eyes he felt his wolf actually feel bad which never happened so he chose to ignore him and look back at the road.

“That was mean, why would you say something so hurtful?” Lance asked glaring at him. “Sometimes the truth hurts.” Damien shrugged. “You are such an ass I can’t believe I ever thought you were sexy.” Sarah burst out slapping her hand over her mouth as she realized what she had confessed.

Damien almost choked on his gum when she yelled at him. He had never expected her to say anything especially what she had. “I never claimed to be a nice guy and lots of girls would agree with you on my sexiness.” Damien smirked not really sure how to respond to what she said.

Sarah rolled her eyes and put her headphones on turning her phone into an mp3 player. She was trying to hide just how much his comments had stung but was having a hard time keeping the tears at bay.

“I can’t wait to be home where we have our own room.” Bianca said taking Brody’s hand in hers. “I agree although cuddling with our princess the past few nights has been nice too.” Brody smiled.

“Speaking of home is there anyway I might be able to stay with you guys?” Travis asked. “Why you have a house with Damien and Lance?” Brody replied looking in the mirror at his brother.

“I know but since you’ve been living with Bianca Damien has become a total ass to us and I’m sick of it and you know that Lance and I can’t fight him we aren’t no where near as strong even together we are still weaker.” Travis answered.

“I wouldn’t have any problems with you two staying with us except we don’t have the extra space we only have two bedrooms and the house is a little too small to be housing two extra wolves in it.” Bianca smiled at him.

“What about you guys moving in with us then because if Brody is there Damien knows Brody will stand up for us.” Travis rushed out. “I tell you what seeing as that house is definitely big enough for all of us not to mention closer to school and in a more protected area I will think about it.” Brody smiled.

“What I like where we live I can’t go back to living somewhere I am constantly being judged that is something that doesn’t exist in Equality.” Bianca glared at Brody. “Honey we will talk about it once we are back home something my father had told me earlier makes me think it will be safer for us to live within the pack territory.” Brody answered her.

“Yes we will definitely be talking about this once we get home.” She said looking out the window. “I didn’t mean to make you guys argue I just really hate living with Damien and so does Lance.” Travis frowned.

“We aren’t arguing we are just having a disagreement but that is normal in a relationship.” Brody smiled at his brother. “Yea it’s not a big deal we can’t stay mad at each other for long anyways.” Bianca smiled.

“I can’t wait until I find my mate and I hope she is as great as you are Bianca.” He grinned. “Don’t rush things you are still young and have your whole life ahead of you.” Brody smiled. “Yep and thank you I’m sure your mate is going to be awesome because she will be a perfect fit for you.” Bianca replied.

The rest of the trip home was spent with random conversations and playful bickering between the three of them while Damien, Lance and Sarah rode in complete silence smothered by the tension caused by Damien.

Once they reached Deadwood they stopped to switch Travis and Sarah out so they could be on their way to Equality. As they dropped Sarah off Mr. Daniels came outside, “I’m so glad to see you guys made it there and back safely.” He said hugging Sarah.

“Yes sir I was extra careful seeing as I had precious cargo onboard.” Brody said shaking his hand. “Speaking of precious cargo, where is papa’s girl?” he asked looking in the car to see Hope passed out.

“She has been sleeping since we left the Kings Highway.” Bianca smiled as she hugged him. “Shoot, I was going to see if you cared if we kept her for a night or two.” He grinned. “I don’t think that’d be a problem seeing as we have tons of laundry and some homework to finish before we go back to school.” Bianca replied.

“Yay plus I figured it’d give you guys some alone time.” He smiled an all knowing smile. “Actually yes that would be nice too there are a few things her and I need to discuss.” Brody grinned. “It’s settled then.” Mr. Daniels said going around and getting Hope out of the car.

She hadn’t moved a muscle as he carried her in the house. After they said their goodbyes they headed for their house. “Man I bet there is going to be a ton of junk mail built up in the mailbox.” Bianca sighed as she hated junk mail she thought it was just a waste of paper.

She had decided to get the mail and head inside while Brody unloaded the car. She could barely hold all the mail there were just so many envelopes and one was rather large and said confidential in red letters across it.

She plopped down on the couch and figured she would weed out the junk from the important stuff before opening the one that kept drawing her attention to it. She was right most of the mail was junk wanting her or Brody to sign up for one thing or another so she threw those away before sitting back down to open up the yellow manila envelope.

Once she opened it and saw the opening line she felt the room start spinning and darkness consumed her and filled her wolf with despair. Brody had been outside when she blacked out but his wolf started going crazy as soon as he felt what his mate was feeling causing Brody to drop all the luggage he had in his hands and run into the house.

“Bianca, Bianca hey wake up what’s wrong sweetheart wake up.” He demanded shaking her. He saw the envelope in the floor with a few papers scattered around it. He picked her up and made his way to the bathroom in hopes setting her in the tub with cool water would snap her back to reality.

“Ahhh.” She screamed as she felt the ice cold water cover her body. “Baby what happened?” Brody asked as he turned the water off and grabbed a towel wrapping it around her as he picked her up out of the tub heading into their room.

“Brody you can’t let him take her, he just can’t be doing this not after everything that I have gone through on my own and losing my family because of him please promise me you won’t let him take her.” Bianca cried.

“I promise baby, I promise.” He answered not really sure what he was promising too but he was more worried about calming her down than getting to the bottom of what caused her to black out he knew they would discuss that when she was calmer. He held her tightly in his arms comforting her as she cried.
