Today’s actions were heavily influenced by personal feelings, but more importantly, his prediction was based on available information. Julian’s actions last night and his mother’s statement today were completely independent; given his ruthless nature, it was predictable that he wouldn’t comply.

Outside Evan’s office, Vice President Su Weili and several executives waited. Zach tried to send them away, claiming the CEO was resting, but they insisted on waiting. The scene resembled ministers confronting a wayward emperor. They’d heard about the Singapore branch, particularly the new CEO’s secretary, Olivia, who had been commended by the chairman. The name reminded Su Weili of a video a CEO had shown him, featuring Julian and Caffrey. He remembered Olivia’s name from the video, her beauty striking. He’d even mentioned it to Steve, but the chairman hadn’t cared. Now, because of her, Crowe Group was being unfairly targeted.

The door opened. Zach ushered them in. They approached Evan, speaking respectfully, each word carefully chosen. Su Weili even mentioned reporting the matter to the chairman.

Evan didn’t show displeasure or use his position to intimidate them. He smiled, put a call on speakerphone.“How’s the situation at the Crowe residence?”

“Julian arrived, furious, and left in a rage, his parents following suit. Caffrey chased after him, and they had a heated argument at the entrance, parting on bad terms.”

“Oh, wait,” the voice on the other end was excited.“Breaking news! The Shaw and Gu families had a huge fight at the Crowe family restaurant. The Gus threatened to cancel their project if Julian didn’t marry Qingtang. Julian insisted he wouldn’t, and they completely broke up.”

Evan hung up. He had no idea how his people got this information so fast. Su Weili and the other executives‘ faces were priceless. The public believed a Shaw–Gu union was imminent, so this was completely unexpected. If the second installment had already been disbursed, recovering the loan would be near impossible. They mentally slapped themselves for what they’d said.

Evan’s face turned serious.“Vice President Su, I think you should call the chairman again. You need to apologize.” Su Weili’s face turned crimson. But then, Evan’s phone rang. A look of surprise, then a flash of tenderness and concern crossed his face.
