She was intelligent, kind, strong, never easily angered. He had been blessed with the good life and now sought hardship.

Rita’s face twisted.“She’s a good girl, and I’m the bad guy? What was our relationship then?”

Julian’s gaze was empty, as if looking at a corpse.“What do you think...”

Rita screamed, grabbing a knife from the table and slashing at her neck. The Gu family panicked, trying to wrestle the knife away. Julian didn’t even glance back, turning to leave. He’d seen this drama countless times; let her die if she wanted to.

Shaw Huishan and Jiang Wenhui rose and left, their faces grim. Rita cried out, even as Julian departed, “Come back! You’ll regret this! You’ll regret it!”

He didn’t look back. The Gu family took the knife, and Caffrey, after calming his sister down, followed Julian. He had a massive headache. He regretted letting his sister run wild. Now, things were a complete mess, complicated further by Evan’s meddling.
