Chapter 130
Infidelity: His Regret, My Revenge – A Twisted Love Story You Can't Ignore
Chapter 130 I remembered the schedule; his first coffee had to be delivered by 9:30 AM. What time was it?9:48 AM! I quickly checked his coffee order. Good heavens, it had to be handâpoured.
I rushed to the breakroom, found the beans, the kettle, ground the beans... My hand ached. I chuckled. I didnât come to Jones Group to be a princess, but Zach had so smoothly passed the job to me, making me feel like a conscripted soldier.
I quickly made the coffee and approached the CEOâs office. Taking a deep breath, I knocked, âCome in,â his calm voice said.
Evan was already working, completely focused. I placed the coffee next to his right hand. He glanced at me, then back at his work. I turned to leave.
âSecretary Wen,â Evan stopped me.
I turned back.âCEO, what else do you need?â
Evan pointed at his cheek. I gave a professional smile, confused. What was wrong with his cheek?
Seeing my confusion, he beckoned me closer. He stood up, his tall figure blocking the light, his scent filling the air. A long, slender finger touched my cheek. I shivered, feeling a jolt from my cheek to my neck.âYou...â I widened my eyes, stepping back.
âYou have something on your face,â Evan said softly, showing me his finger, which had a bit of brown coffee grounds. I was speechless.â...Thank you, but next time, just tell me.â
Evan sat down.âI did tell you. Youâre just stupid.â
Me:...Pointing at your face is telling me? Why donât you point at your father and call him a stupid old man!
I stormed out of the office, washing my face in the restroom; my face was as red as if Iâd drunk several bottles of wine. Evan was so petty! Iâd made one mistake, and he was getting even!
At the 10:30 AM meeting, I only took notes. Zach handled the notifications and prepared the materials. Heâd considered that it was my first day; the meeting was urgent, and I didnât know the content. He was being considerate. At noon, there was a business lunchâa real estate tycoon whoâd collaborated with Jones Group on a resort project. The project had been signed before Evan took over. He was an old friend of Evanâs father; a sort of uncle. The lunch had been postponed due to Evanâs injury.
Evan, Zach, and I went to the restaurant. In the private room were Yuan Xinjiang, his secretary, Jones Groupâs Vice President Su Weili, and...Julian and Caffrey! Yuan Xinjiang was here to mediate.
Evan sat down calmly. Seeing Julian made me nervous. Julian stared at me intently. Was I being too obvious with Evan? Others looked at me with subtle curiosity. I knew what they were thinking; Evan had told me to be confident. I couldnât embarrass him.
Zach told me that Yuan Xinjiang loved to ply people with alcohol; we had to help Evan.
âLetâs fill Mr. Jonesâs glass. Heâs late; he has to drink a penalty shot,â Yuan Xinjiang said, starting the drinking game. His secretary filled Evanâs glass.
