Chapter 125 Evan and Zach heard Julian’s roar, especially the word “divorced.” Zach was surprised; it happened so fast. Evan was calm; he knew about the divorce yesterday.

An awkward silence filled the car. I turned to the window. Thankfully, we were in the garage; we’d soon be out. I followed Evan to his private elevator. Zach helped me with paperwork, gave me my security card, and showed me around, introducing me to various departments. Everyone knew I’d joined. There were rumors about the CEO’s new secretary–a headhunter recommendation, a former project manager at the Shaw Corp, the ex–girlfriend of the Shaw Corp’s CEO. Zach and I returned upstairs. He opened a door.“This is your office. The secretary’s department used to be on this floor, but the CEO likes peace and quiet, so they moved it. You’ll manage the department.”

“Okay.” I looked around my new office; it was large and nicely decorated.

Zach:“My office is next to the CEO’s. Come find me if you need anything.”

I nodded. Zach left, then returned.“Oh, there are only three of us on this floor–you, the CEO, and me. He’s... difficult. He doesn’t allow anyone into his office, so you’ll handle small tasks. It might be... tiring.” My smile was strained.“...Don’t tell me I have to clean his office with a vacuum cleaner.”
