Chapter 88
Ex-Husband's Endless Pestering (Josie and Henry)
Chapter 88 However, Henry merely sat ths ere quietly without any intention of stepping forward to help Josic.
âWell, since no one has any objection, Iâm more than happy to oblige.â The smirk on Quintonâs lips was meaningful and sarcastic. He reached out to grab Josieâs wrist and pulled the woman into his arms. âDonât be afraid. You donât suffer any loss either. I think my dad wants me to marry you.â
âYou all indeed... share the same blood. Youâre disgustingâ Josie tried hard to break free from Quintonâs clutch. Her eyes réddened, but she stubbornly held back her tears.
âWhat am I still holding on to? Not only does Henry not love me, but he even wants to give me away to somebody else!â she lamented inwardly.
âSince you also agree with this marriage, Mr. Gibson, why donât you let the couple spend some time together tonight? If they can get along well, then they can get married right away. What do you think?â Spikeâs tone remained indifferent.
However, he never stopped threatening Henry.
Henry did not speak, but his fists underneath the table turned so pale that his veins bulged.
âMr. Gibson, as a member of the Gibson family, how much dowry are you willing to offer since the bride is Ms. Yates herself?â Spike got up as he spoke. From his expression, he looked as if his son had to sacrifice a whole lot solely by marrying Josie.
âDad, I donât mind the fact that sheâs having a second marriage. Iâve always had a thing for other peopleâs exâwife, especially if sheâs Mr. Gibsonâs exâwives. Quinton yanked Josie toward himself. Clearly, he was purposely doing so for Henry to see.
Iâll give you 20 percent of Gibson Corporationâs original issue shares. How about that?â Henry lifted his hand slightly before slowly grabbing the wine glass on the table.
Josie looked at Henry in despair.
She scoffed inwardly, âHuh! So, Iâm only a pawn Henry uses to justify transferring his shares away and giving the Gibson familyâs assets away? Or did the fatherâandâson duo plan this from the beginning? Whatever it is, in the eyes of those three people, Iâm nothing but a puppet, a commodity, and an asset to gather more fortune and power.â
*20 percent? You control almost 100 percent of the shares, Mr. Gibson, but youâre only willing to give me a measly 20 percent? Donât forget Iâm actually willing to accept the fact that youâre merely giving away something you no longer want,â commented Quinton in a deep voice.
âHow much do you want?â Henry rose to his feet and walked over to Quinton with the glass of wine in his hand, staring loftily at Quinton.
The latter tightened his grip on Josie. To agitate Henry, he even lifted Josieâs chin and scrutinized her face. âSince Ms. Yatesâ beauty is really to my liking, I want half of what you have. I hope Iâm not asking too much.â
A snicker escaped from Henryâs lips. He tilted the glass of wine and steadily poured the wine all over Quintonâs face. âI could give it to you, but would you be able to take it?â
âHenry!â Quinton was enraged.
Henry then turned around and looked at Spike, who looked pretty upset, before speaking again. âYouâve been overindulging in this blockhead. If things carry on like this, we wonât know whatâs going to happen to him next.â
âWhat do you mean?â asked Spike in a cold tone.
12:28 Thu, 9 May Mti.
Chapter 88 62%æ¥ âYou donât really think Iâm still a teenager, do you, Mr. Spike?â Henry grabbed Quinton by the hair and threw the latter to the ground.
Angered. Quinton tried to resist, but Henry stepped on him on the spot. âBefore you offend somebody, make sure you gauge your own strength.
Otherwise, you wouldnât even know what hit you. If it hadnât been for me, youâd have long met your demise abroad. The next time you see me, remember to call me your savior, as Iâm truly your savior.â
âHenry!â Quinton roared. With bloodshot eyes, he glared at the bodyguards, who dared not act rashly. âAre you guys blind?â
The bodyguards then got the hint from Spikeâs gaze, and they finally stepped forward to take Henry down.
Henry smashed the wine glass on one of the bodyguards and kicked the latter to the ground.
At that moment, Henry seemed to act like a crazy man. He hurled punches at the bodyguard who pushed Josie down earlier. He then took off his tie, throwing his coat on Josieâs head, covering Josieâs eyes altogether. Wheeling around, Henry grabbed a stool and smacked it hard on his opponent.
He looked like he was determined to claim the bodyguardsâ lives.
There was a time when Henry had reprimanded Samuel for not being calm enough when dealing with matters. He criticized the latter for being willful and impulsive, acting like a spoiled brat of the Turner family.
Yet, at that very moment, Henry could feel that he was just as reckless himself.
Deep down, he knew that his actions would provoke Spike. Before arriving, he had advised himself countless times to bear with the circumstance for the time being as well, as it was simply not the time for him to lash out yet.
Alas, when he saw Josie being bullied, the rational part of him eventually gave in.
âHenry! You must be crazy!â Spike slammed his hand hard on the table, his voice as cold as ice.
Henry wiped off the blood on the back of his hand as he stared turned back and looked at Spike. âIf you want something from me, ask from me fairly and openly. Donât resort to tricks like this.â
Henry turned around and glanced at Josie. He then spoke again. âI was the one who called for the divorce, but Josieâs still the most important person in my life. Even if she isnât my wife, sheâs still the respectable daughter of the Gibson family! That son of yours ought to learn to show some respect first before discussing with me whether heâs worthy of Josie or not.â
âHenry! Even if Iâm not worthy, Iâm still 100 times better than you, an illegitimate child! Do you really think you deserve to be called âMr. Gibsonâ just because youâve been adopted by the Gibson family? Quinton mocked, sneering as he stood up.
Josie hid in the corner without saying a word.
âWhat a crazy family... Theyâre all lunatics,â she thought.
At that moment, she just wanted to run away.
âThis woman is but a puppet. Donât forget what you promised my dad. You said that you were only toying with her. What you really wanted was the Gibson familyâs assets!â
Quinton shoved Henry aside and approached Josie. He then pulled off the coat that was covering her. âDidnât you say it yourself that once youâve had enough of her, youâd give her up to anyone interested?â
Josie stared at Henry with teary eyes, her whole body trembling.
âJo... Letâs go home. Iâll explain to you later... Henryâs voice was shaking as well. He was scared.
Obviously, he did say those words.
12:28 Thu, 9 May Chapter 88 âJo... Henry wanted to carry Josie in his arms, but the next second, his eyes widened with shock.
Josie stabbed the knife in her hand into Henryâs shoulder violently.
âDamn it! Who the heck called the police?â
A series of sirens sounded from the port of the Delisisle River.
After cursing out loud, Quinton looked at Spike with slight panic.
Spike spoke in a deep voice. âThereâs no need to panic. This just a family dinner. Donât tell me even the police wants to interfere in this?â
The air in the cabin seemed to have frozen then, and Henry could only gape at Josie in disbelief.
Josie hands that were holding the knife were still trembling, but her gaze was steady and showed Henry that she hated him.
You wanted to kill me?â Henry asked with reddened eyes. Even his voice was quivering.
He felt completely numb.
âYou lunatic... Josie looked at Henry with nothing by terror in her eyes.
Josic, Iâve told you before... You can never get rid of me in this life. Yes, Iâm crazy. You can hate me for your whole life if you want!â Henry grabbed Josieâs shoulder hysterically. His expression was terrifying.
Josie was trembling all over and wanted nothing but to escape from him.
âIâve told you before, Josie, that this is your fate.â Henryâs breath became heavier and heavier. He looked down at the blood that had soaked his shirt and held Josie forcefully and tightly in his arms. âYou can only pray... that you donât run into me in your next lifetimeâ
âAfter all, weâve already bumped into each other in this lifetime,â he remarked internally.
The police officers got on the yacht. Among them was Samuel.
âSomeone called the police and reported that you guys were fighting and causing trouble. Whatâs going on?â

âItâs our family dinner. Weâll deal with the conflicts between the siblings ourselves,â replied Spike in a deep voice as he shot a meaningful glance at Quinton.
Quinton furrowed his brows as he swallowed the rest of his words.
Jo!â It was then that Samuel barged in. He was stunned when he saw Josie covered in blood, and he rushed over to her. âAre. you hurt? Where are you hurt?â
Josie finally fehâher body that was numbed with fear loosen a little. She burrowed into Samuelâs embrace almost subconsciously. âItâs not my blood.
Itâs his,â she explained, her voice trembling.
Samuel frowned and looked at Henry with anger and doubt in his eyes.
Truth be told, it was Henry called the police and asked Samuel to come to Delisisle River as soon as possible.
Henryâs fingers went numb. He gazed at the woman who had broken free from his embrace and turned to cower in Samuelâs arms. His heart ached so much that his face turned pale.
May Chapter 88 He knew that Josie, who always used to rely on him when she was scared, would never be coming back to his side.
To him, it was as if Josie had not stabbed the knife into his shoulder but into his heart instead.
