Chapter 34
Ex-Husband's Endless Pestering (Josie and Henry)
Chapter 34 On the other end of the call, Charles could feel a chill run down his spine even before Henry spoke.
âYou donât believe me?â Seeing that Henry was silent, Charles knelt in front of Josie. âGo on, say something. Tell Mr. Gibson all about it.â
Josie simply stared blankly at Charles. There were blood stains on her neck, but she stubbornly refused to say a word.
After a long silence, Henry berated Charles. âYouâre sick in the head!â
Henry thought. âIs Charles really sick?â
Charles smiled sarcastically and said. âIâm sure Mr. Gibson is aware that Josie has an anxiety disorder. She has a tendency to inflict injuries on herself.â
âSince sheâs already your woman, you should settle this matter yourself, whether sheâs alive or dead.â Henry hung up abruptly after saying that to Charles.
Charles sighed with a smirk on his face. Jo, he doesnât care about you at all. Why are you so stubborn?â
Josie was a little breathless as she said in a soft voice, âHeâs right. Youâre sick.â
Henry had never cared about her. She knew it all along for the past three years. Josie went through it all.
Yet there was no denying that Charles was sick.
At the very least, he must be suffering from a mental illness.
From the very beginning, Charles had always wanted to outperform Henry. It had become his obsession.
He was a pathetic soul.
Charles clenched his fists. The one thing he detested most was having anyone look at him pitifully.
Charles raised his hand to grab Josieâs wrist. He pulled her up to his chest effortlessly and threw the bloodâ
stained glass fragment on the floor. Josie Yates, Iâve been too lenient with you, havenât I?â
Nothing he said was of any use.

Josie was so frightened that her whole body started shaking. There was no way she could resist his advances at this moment. âCharles, your thoughts are always so strange. Why should I need someone to want me?â
Josie was certain she could survive even if she was all alone.
She did not need a man in her life.
âLook how stubborn you are!â Charles was sarcastic. He wanted to force himself on Josie but could not bring himself to do it, as she looked practically halfâ
dead.
âCooperate with me. Iâll help you find out the truth about your parentsâ deaths. Iâll help you take revenge and take back what belongs to you, okay?â Charles kicked the nightstand irritably.
Josie slowly curled up and said in a quivering voice, âCharlie, I feel cold.â
Charlesâs fingers stiffened and he cursed, âDamn it.â
