Chapter 40

Sanem stayed in Agva, for over a week, she shed a lot of tears. She would eat as much as she could, and sleep was very little. She missed everyone, especially Can. She's wondering if he's with Achia. Did he come back from the climb, is he still in Italy with trashy Achia. Did he forget about me? She gets angry every time she thinks about it.

Sanem knew she couldn't stay in Agva forever, she would eventually have to go back to the city, she needs to talk to Metin, but she can't let him know where she is. She has to find a place to stay.  Sanem finally fell asleep on the beach, she was dreaming of Can. She sees herself lying in bed in the hospital next to him. In her sleep she hears a woman's voice, "Sanem, get yourself together child, get back home the people you love miss you." Sanem wakes up, what was that. The voice sounded familiar. She knew now she had to get back and contact Metin. Take it step by step girl you will figure it out when you get back." Sanem layed down in the sand again trying to fall asleep and looks up at the stars and says "good night my love sweet dreams. I love you."

The days were going by, and Can and the family were getting more and more worried. Can, did his same routine every day, he would drive through the neighborhood looking for her, he would go to the home , and the orphanage and every night he would sit at the pier for hours way into the night hopping she would would show up. "Ah Sanem, my love we're are you, please come back to me". Can was sitting at the pier when an older woman probably around fifty years old approaches him. " good evening,( she looks at him closely) Can is that you?"

Can looks up but doesn't recognize her.

CAN: "yes I'm Can, but I'm sorry I don't recognize you, do I know you?" She smiles and says "

Well you probably don't remember me because when I met you you were in a coma, I was your night nurse in ICU, my name is Meryem , well Can Divit it nice to meet you awake."can laughed.

CAN: "it's nice to meet you too, and thank you for being by my side in the hospital, Sanem told me that you are a very special nurse and how you took care of me"

MERYEM: "it was my pleasure son, but you know your Sanem is very special, I've never seen so much love in a person. Well except for me and my husband" and she pointed to him and smiled, Can waived to him, but had a funny feeling he knew him from somewhere. "How is she, why are you here by yourself so late." Can for some reason felt at peace with Meryem, he told her everything that's happened since the accident, including how selfish he was himself and  he didn't even think how it was affecting Sanem.

CAN: "I screwed up Meryem, and now she's missing, I should have never left. You know she's my heart and soul, I was always a free spirit, traveling the world I never thought I would want to settle down, but when I met my Sanem, the first night I layed eyes on her in the club I was hooked. She's the most beautiful woman I have ever layed eyes on, and it's not just her beauty, she has a heart of gold, she is my heart and soul." And tears were rolling down his cheeks.

MERYEM: "Can, you don't have to tell me, Sanem is an open book, you Can see who she is just by looking at her and talking to her. She wouldn't leave your side Can. It sounds to me that you two are soul mates."

CAN: "she is, but I should of payed more attention to how she looked and felt, I just wanted to do what I wanted to do and didn't even think about how she felt, all she would say is, I just want you to be happy Can that's all I want, and not once did I ask her if she was happy."

MERYEM: Can, listen to me and listen good! You are far from selfish, Sanem told me everything about you, you my son are also selfless, you travel the world and take pictures of the worst situations to raise awareness of how people are treated from hunger to illnesses. You have helped so many people, and I know Sanem is very proud of you. When she talked about you she was glowing with so much love and admiration for you.

CAN: " I don't know, I don't see my self like that. The last several weeks proved it."

MERYEM: "oh pish posh Can Divit!! You had a life altering experience happen to you too, don't forget that. I've been a nurse for thirty years, and I've seen a lot trust me, your not the first or the last that went through this or are going to go through this. So now what are you going to do?"

Can looked at Meryem and they both smiled at each other, she takes his hand in both of her hands and rubs them, and looks into his eyes and smiles. Can all

Of a sudden is feeling this calmness throughout his body. He can't explain it, but he knows that this woman is very special and very caring."

CAN: " Meryem, I can see why Sanem liked you so much, I know she's forever grateful to you for being there for her and lending an ear for her to talk to you."

MERYEM: " Son it was my pleasure, I love Sanem, and you know I love you too, I can see why Sanem loves you so much, you're just as special as she is."

CAN: " Thank you Meryem, ( he pauses and takes a deep breath) but now the question is, where is Sanem is she ok. Dear god if something happens to her or happened " Meryem stopped him from talking.

MERYEM: " Can, I'm sure she's fine, I'm sure she's feeling depressed and she's not taking care of herself because that's the way she was at the hospital when you were in your coma, do you know all the nurses took care of her to, they would bring her things to eat and drink because they noticed how fragile she looked.

CAN: I noticed her when I felt better and I told her to eat more,  but you know she's very stubborn" he laughs and says " I think I've met my match because I can also be very stubborn,". Meryem laughs along with him and says "Oh I know"he looks at her and she clears her throat and she says " because I also tried to get her to eat more, but like you said stubborn"Meryem laughed and said, " she told me how clumsy she is, and how she was a frequent visitor in the ER and how it was always her head that she would hurt, and then she would laugh and knock on her head and say see no damage everything is still there and she would laugh the sweetest laugh." Can looked at Meryem and thought those two got real close in the hospital, but Meryem had a smile on her face full of love and affection, she must be an exceptional nurse.  And he starts laughing and says.

CAN: "that she is, very clumsy , I caught her many times before she hit the ground." Meryem looks at him and she sees a soft smile on his face,  full of love for Sanem. She knows that these two are Destined to be together.

MERYEM: okay Can, what now? I know you're going to keep looking, and I know you will find her."

CAN: " but where do I look, I've looked everywhere she loves to go, and been back several times and nothing. She's no where."

MERYEM: "keep looking Can, keep going to the places she loves, and the places you go to every day, especially to the places she loves that you two have gone together, places that are special in her heart, and to yours. Because I guarantee you that that's where she will be, because she will feel closer to you there."

Can looked at Meryem and smiled and hugged her tight he had tears in his eyes. She gave him the warmest smile and for some reason made him feel that everything will be okay.

CAN: "I will do exactly what you told me, and I will find her, Meryem you are a god sent."

MERYEM: " well I don't know if I'm a god sent but I am definitely a woman with alot of experience in life."

Oh and Can, this Ahmet character, I'm sure he's hiding a lot even from his past. But I'm sure everything will come to light soon."

CAN: " I'm sure you are right, as soon as I find Sanem, I will definitely dig deeper into his past"

MERYEM: "that's all I ask son."and pats him on the hand and says "'well it's time for me to get back to my one and only, he's been waiting there for awhile. Take care son and don't worry everything will work itself out . Good night."she starts walking away

CAN : Meryem, where can I get a hold of you when I find Sanem."

MERYEM: "You will find me Can, don't worry, I come here a lot. I'm sure our paths will cross soon."

She waves goodbye and takes her husbands hand and starts walking away, can looks out into the ocean and looks back to see Meryem but they were gone. " I just looked into the water for a couple of seconds where did they go." All of a sudden Can felt something warm pass through him. He wasn't sure what it was but one thing he did know this Meryem was definitely special.

He got up started walking towards his car and looks up at the stars and says Sanem Aydin, I know I will find you soon, you can't hide for long. Good night my love, sweet dreams, I love you."
