Chapter 39

The next morning Sanem got up very early before everyone else. She had another sleepless night. She got a good morning text from Can but she didn't answer him back.

She wanted to stop at Metins office to talk to him about the letters.

She decided not to come back to the house, at least not for now. She packed up her stuff and called a taxi, as she's walking towards the taxi, tears are rolling down her cheeks. She loves Can, she just wants him happy. He's probably better off with that mean trashy Achia.

Miriban got up went to the kitchen hoping to see Sanem so she can talk to her. But she wasn't there.

"That's strange, she's always the first one up, maybe she overslept. She waited another half hour but no Sanem. Aziz comes to the kitchen.

AZIZ: Miriban you look worried, what's wrong?"

MIRIBAN: Aziz, Sanem is usually the first one up and she's not up yet."

AZIZ: "she probably overslept, she looked exhausted."

MIRIBAN: I don't know, I don't like this, I'm going to check up on her."

They both went to Can's room, she wasn't there, and then they went to the pool house. They knocked no answer. The door was unlocked. They walk in, they call her name no answer. They knocked on her bedroom door. No answer, they open it up and she's gone.

MIRIBAN: "Aziz, she's gone, she ran away, look her closet is empty" they were both shocked, they couldn't believe she left. " this is not good.  We need to find her, she's not in good shape Aziz, just the lack of sleep can make her even more depressed."

Aziz and Miriban, we're trying to figure out what to do, when Emre and Leyla come back from their business trip. They see Miriban and Aziz, sitting on the couch. Very upset.

EMRE: " baba what happened, is everything okay?"

They filled them in on everything that happened with Can and Sanem. Leyla was shocked, but not surprised.

LEYLA: "I sensed Sanem not being in a good place, she was like this when my parents died. The only thing that saved her were my aunt and uncle. And now Can's accident she feels responsible, because it was Kerem who tried to kill Can. And you know Can, he also was different after the accident, it's like he had to relive his past. But I told her, that he would be fine eventually it's just an after effect from the accident"

EMRE: " maybe we should call Can, he needs to know "

AZIZ: "he's probably still climbing, we won't be able to reach him." They tried calling Sanem's number but she kept declining.

LEYLA: "maybe calling the police, she's a missing person."

EMRE: "They won't do anything it hasn't been 24 hours."

Then we need to start looking in her favorite places.

Sanem entered Metins office, he was very happy to see her, he loves Sanem, he's sees his best friend the happiest he's ever been with Sanem. He hugs her and kisses her on the cheek.

METIN: welcome Sanem, what brings you here today?" He's looking at her, but she looks sad, thin, very tired. " Sanem are you okay, what's wrong?"

SANEM: I'm fine Metin, (she pauses) well, I'm very worried about something, but this has to stay between us, no one must know." He was getting very worried about her.

METIN: "what is it." She shows him the letters. He was shocked. "'Who do you think sent these"

SANEM: I don't know, but I'm worried that whoever it is might go after the people I love. Look what happened with the fire." Metin had an idea of who it was, because Can contacted him after the fire to hire his detective. But he still needs concrete evidence to do or say anything.

METIN: "go home and take care of yourself, I will take care of this, ok" he went and sat next to her and held her hand and she starts crying.

SANEM " Metin, I can't have anyone else get hurt because of me" she starts crying uncontrollably , he takes her and hugs her. " look at my uncle he could of died, and my Can, he was almost killed because of me."

METIN: " Sanem that's not true, if you would have known Kerem was capable of something like that wouldn't you have tried to stop him?" She nodded yes.

"Okay, I want you to go home, I'm calling you a taxi, straight home okay." She nodded her head and thanked him and left. I have to call Can, I know I told her I wouldn't say anything and it goes against ethics, but this is an emergency. Metin tried calling Can, no answer. He called Emre.

METIN: Emre, is Can back yet?"

EMRE: " no , why, you sound upset."

Metin told him everything that just happened with Sanem. "Emre, she doesn't look good, I'm worried about her, I'm hoping she's on her way home"

EMRE : "I'll let you know when she gets home, who do you think is sending these letters?"

METIN: "right now I can't say, because the evidence is not enough. But I will put Pressure on my detective to get more answers. I wish she would have came to me sooner. Tell everyone what I just told you. I ll talk to you later.

Emre relayed the message from Metin to the rest of the family. They couldn't believe it, Leyla was scared for Sanem, no wonder she's the way she is. Sanem always worries about everyone else, but never looks out for herself.

Can was on a plane going back home. He was surprised that Sanem didn't answer him back. He sat there thinking about everything that happened, Achia is definitely another Polen, Sanem warned me. But I wouldn't listen. Ah Sanem, I'm sorry, I love you Sanem Aydin. I have to make it up to her. He was looking at the ring he got her, I can't wait to surprise her with it. My life, my only one.

Sanem decided to go to Agva for a couple of nights, just to sit by the ocean. She loves the beach, it always makes her feel at peace. She was thinking about Can and Achia, deep in her heart she knows Achia did it to hurt Sanem. But she also knew that Achia has more in common with Can. Sanem just sat there crying, I love him so much, Can Divit, for me there will never be another.

Can's flight landed, and he was on his way home, he had a bad feeling, something wasn't sitting right with him, and it had to do with Sanem. He tried calling her, no answer. Why isn't she answering her phone. Something isn't right. He calls Emre.

CAN: "Emre, what's going on, I keep calling Sanem and there's no answer."

EMRE: "where are you, are you still in Italy?"

CAN: "no I'm on my way home, I just landed a half hour ago, where is Sanem, she's not answering."

Emre didn't know what to tell him.

EMRE: " come home and we will talk ok."

CAN: " Emre something is wrong I can feel it."

EMRE: "Can, just come home, I have a lot to tell you."

Can got home and ran into the house, he saw everyone sitting around, they looked worried.

CAN: Emre, where is Sanem, is she okay." Sanem ( he starts looking all over for her and panicking). "Sanem "

EMRE: " Can, she's not here. She took her things and left." Can felt like a knife went through his heart.

CAN: " what do you mean she left where did she go "

EMRE: " we don't know, Miriban went looking for her this morning, she was gone and her clothes were gone too. Sit down and let me fill you in on everything."

Emre told him everything, about Achia, the letters and Sanem showing up at Metins office "

Can, couldn't believe what he was hearing. Tears are rolling down his cheeks . Why didn't she say anything about the letters.

EMRE: because she's worried about you, and anyone else she loves that might get hurt. And Can she's blaming herself for your accident."

MIRIBAN: " Can, Sanem looks exhausted and very thin. She's hardly eating or sleeping. And then she got the picture and I think that made things worse."

CAN: "Annem, I swear nothing happened between us, she kissed me unexpectedly and that's when I told her off and got up and left." Leyla is looking at him" Leyla. I love Sanem, trust me, I'm not interested in Achia and never was."

LEYLA: Can, I believe you, but you were different after the accident, I think she felt that you were drifting apart, you always wanted to go on these wild adventures. And then this mountain climb with Achia, we all saw through Achia," and she looks at Aziz and Emre. " well at least the women did"

CAN: " I never stopped loving Sanem, you know that, I always tell her I love her. I don't know why I wanted to do all the crazy stuff I did before, it was like I had all this energy and I didn't know what to do with it. But my love for Sanem was always there, it never changed, I will always love her."

LEYLA: "I know, and I think she knows it too. But all this with the letters the accident, she was very traumatized with your accident. And I think she feels that if she stays away everyone will be safe."

CAN: " we have to find her, we have to go to all her favorite places." Everyone agreed, they all split up. Can decided to go to the girls home and the orphanage and then the pier. Leyla was going to check in the neighborhood. She checked with Ahan and Osman and her aunt and uncle. Miriban and Aziz stayed back just in case she comes back.

Can went all over looking for her, the orphanage, the group home the pier, even the nearby beaches. Can's phone rings it's Metin.

METIN: any luck Can?"

CAN: "nothing, I went everywhere, Metin what are you thinking, do you think your detective could help find her."

METIN: " I'm already on it, he's trying to find her with her phone, but she hasn't turned it on hopefully she will turn it on and we can trace her. Can, don't worry, we will find her."

CAN: " Metin, I can't, I'm going crazy, I'm worried about her, what happens if something happens to her "

METIN: Can, we're going to find her, okay, go home, and if I hear anything I'll call you."

Everyone gathered back home, no luck. Can was going crazy, he couldn't sit still. Mevcabi and Nihat came to the Divit home, they were very worried.

MEVCABI: "Can, come sit next to me. ( can sat next to her with his head in his hands) we will find her, don't worry."

CAN: "Aunt Mevcabi, I shouldn't have left, I should have noticed the way she was. It's all my fault"

MEVCABI: "listen to me, No you shouldn't have gone, but you almost died and you were dealing with your own stuff, I think you had your own life changing experience. I don't think you realized the way you were. And Sanem just wanted to see you happy, because of everything that happened to you. Can Sanem loves you very much, she is a selfless person, she will never put herself first even if it hurts her. Now you need to be strong, because when we find her she is going to need you. Can you are her medicine." Can looked at Mevcabi and hugged her, they were both crying.

CAN: "Thank you auntie." "You're welcome son"

It's been almost five days Sanem has been missing. The police are involved now also trying to locate her.

Can goes to her favorite places every day, hoping she will show up, but no luck he sits at the pier for hours hoping that he will see her.

Metin called Can late one night to tell him what he knows about the letters. He decided to meet him at the pier.

METIN: Can, ( he puts his arm around his shoulder) are you okay."

CAN: "no, I feel like my heart was ripped out of my chest Metin, were could she be, not even a text to tell us she's okay, what happens if something happened to her. were just sitting here waiting for her, I looked every were, do you think she left Istanbul, she has money coming in from her book."

METIN: "no we checked everything out, she didn't leave, plus she doesn't have a passport. I even checked with the taxi cab. He told me he left her here in the city, but she must of gotten another driver and paid him cash because there's no trace of her using cards."

CAN: "Metin, I'm going crazy, I have to find her. I can't be without her."

METIN: "we will, and she will be okay, I have people looking for her 24/7. Will bring her home brother."

They hugged each other. And sat there for a couple of minutes. And then Metin filled him in on what he knew about the letters and the fire.

CAN: " Ahmet!!! I can't believe it, why is angry with Sanem." Can was very angry.

METIN: "first calm down, getting angry and wanting to kill him won't bring Sanem back."

CAN: "why does he want to hurt Sanem, I don't understand."

METIN: "he's blaming her that his business was shut down, he thinks that she sent the board of health into investigate, and you know that opened up a can of worms. He still under investigation for a lot of other things."

CAN: " poor Sanem, one night we went to pick up her check. She tried to be tuff with him and threatened him with your name, that she was going to have you check him out." They both laughed .

METIN: "she didn't even know me then."

CAN: " no, but she knew that you went to talk to him that first night we met. And she knew we were friends."

She's something Metin, she's smart, beautiful creative, she's everything to me, my life is empty without her.

METIN: "we will find her Can. and Ahmet will go to prison for along time. This man almost killed her uncle, and you and Emre. I'm with you brother we will bring her home."
