Chapter 35

It's been almost three weeks, Can has been of his meds for about a week and half, the swelling went down, his ribs and his leg are almost healed. Sanem has been spending every night with him, the nurses are watching her closely they noticed that she lost some weight and looks very tired. She is eating a little better but the nurses are still concerned they keep bringing her snacks, even that's better than nothing.

Sanem has been sleeping with Can every night, for the past three weeks, once in a while this past week she felt him moving. The other night she felt his arm squeeze her closer to him. The doctor is happy, he feels that Can is slowly waking up.

It was Can's fourth week in the hospital, Sanem came out of the shower and noticed Can was turned to his side. She called the nurse in and asked if she turned him while she was in the shower. She said no he must of turned himself. Sanem was so happy, she called the family and told them that Can turned to is side by himself.

They all came to see him hoping he would wake up while they were there.

They were disappointed he didn't wake up, but they were happy to see some movement.

That night Sanem was massaging Can, she pulled down his hospital gown to his waist,the bruises were gone, she was so happy. She was rubbing his chest and shoulders with a cream she made for him. She would give him little kisses all over and talk to him.

SANEM: " Can Divit, I love massaging you and kissing you, you feel so good, but I want you to wake up, I miss you looking at me, with your beautiful eyes. I miss your kisses, and I even miss when you tease me, yes Can even when you tease me, I even miss arguing with you." She starts giggling , she stops and looks at him and says "Can, my love without you I'm nothing, my life has been so empty these past weeks," she starts crying and tears are falling on his chest. She puts her head on his chest and starts crying very hard, uncontrollably.

All of a sudden she feels his hand grab her head and squeezes it, she looks up and sees is eyes open, and he has a small smile on his face.

SANEM: " Can, Can, you're awake, I love you (she kisses his cheek) I love you, (she kisses him on his lips)

She kept saying I love you and kept kissing him all over. Can was smiling. And says groggily.

CAN: "Sanem, my love, just because I'm in a hospital bed, doesn't mean that I can't make love to you right now" and they both start giggling, tears are rolling down her cheeks, Can tries to wipe them away, but he's very weak.

SANEM: " I have to call the nurse to tell her!" She went to get off of him, and he held her in place.

CAN: "we're are you going, I like you being on top of me." She smiled and kissed him and said " Can, you've been in a coma for almost a month and that's all you can think about."

CAN: "I can't help it, you make me hot" and he starts laughing. " I love you Sanem Aydin, I heard everything you said, you are my life and every breath I take." She smiled and caressed his cheeks and kissed him on the lips. He was getting tired, she knew he was trying to stay awake to make her happy. She ran out called the nurse.

The nurse came in and was very happy to see him awake.

NURSE: " well welcome back Can Divit, this woman, (pointing to Sanem) didn't leave your side. She loves you very much." Can looked at Sanem and smiled, but he was getting tired and started to fall asleep. The nurse took his vitals, and was very pleased, she placed a call in to the doctor and they were very happy, and said they will be in to see him in the morning.

Sanem called the family, they could tell how excited and happy she was, she couldn't stop crying.

Everyone was so happy, Aziz and Emre were crying, everyone couldn't wait for morning to come to see Can.

Sanem was so excited she couldn't sleep, she layed down next to Can, and she put his arm around her waist. She kept rubbing his chest and kissing it.

Can opens his eyes and looks down at her, kisses the top of her head and squeezes her closer to him.

CAN: " Sanem Aydin, calm down, get some sleep, I need to get better fast, because I have plans to take you away and make love to you, with no interruption, just you and me bebek." She smiles and kisses him passionately on the lips. "Can, I'm sorry I'm so happy that you woke up, you have no idea."

CAN: "I know Bebek, I'm happy that I can hold you, no more sleeping without each other , married or not,  I'm going to have you in bed with me every night."

SANEM: " I was hoping you would say that, always together." He kissed her on her head and fell asleep again. And she fell asleep a little while later.

The next morning the doctors were in early to check on him, he seemed even better than the day before.

DOCTOR: " Well Can, everything looks good, we're going to take you down for some more tests one more time, but I think you're in the clear. I assume you know what your best medicine was"they all look over at Sanem, Can took her hand and kissed it. She smiled at Can and hugged him.

DOCTOR: " Sanem, I truly believe that your love for Can, is what made him recover so fast. And Can I have to tell you, I've never seen such love, this woman didn't leave your side. Well anyway congratulations, we will run the test, a couple of days of physical therapy to get you moving again, and you can leave, and go home."

" and you can start eating lightly, don't over do it."

Can was looking at Sanem, he noticed how tired and fragile she looked. She lost weight, now he was concerned about her.

CAN: "bebek you look exhausted, haven't you been eating, you look very thin, my love."

SANEM: "I'm okay Can, especially now that you're awake, don't worry about me."

CAN: "I'm sorry that you had to go through this"

SANEM: (she starts crying ) Can, this all my fault, it should have been me not you. Do you remember anything about the accident."

CAN: " not much, all I know is that I was in an accident, I remember seeing the car but I couldn't get out of the way fast enough. Sanem, look at me this wasn't your fault. Don't blame yourself."

SANEM: " Can, when I tell you who hit you you're going to hate me."

CAN: " that will never happen, my love."Sanem looked at him straight in the eyes and said

SANEM: " Kerem, it was Kerem."

And she starts crying uncontrollably. " Can, he wanted you out of the way, he wanted me to himself."

Can, was shocked he couldn't believe it, he knew Kerem wanted her bad but didn't think he would do anything like that. He takes her and makes her lay down next to him.

CAN: "I don't blame him, I want you for myself too, and I got you." He smiles and kisses his cheek.

SANEM: " your not mad me?"

CAN: "Sanem, why would I be mad, he is a sick man, he was obsessed with you, he tried to kill me to have you. No I'm not mad. What happened to him? Is he in jail?"

SANEM: " he died Can, after he hit you he lost control of the car and went into a wall and was killed instantly." Can, just sat there, he couldn't believe it.

"Can, are you okay?"

CAN: " yes, my love, I'm definitely fine, he got what he deserved. If he lived and went to prison, he would've been out in several years and probably would've come after you again. He was sick and obsessed."

" let's not talk about it anymore, let's just focus on us and me getting out of the hospital." Can fell asleep again with Sanem sleeping next to him.

A little while later the whole family showed up, everyone was so happy to see Can was okay.

AZIZ: "son, I'm so happy to see you awake," he was wiping tears away, Emre went and hugged him. And so did leyla and Miriban.  About a half hour later, Mevcabi shows up with Nihat, with all this food, and her special soup for Can, she knows that he has to eat lightly.

SANEM: " Auntie, do you think you brought enough food, I think you brought enough for the nurses and doctors on this floor."

MEVCABI: " of course I brought food for them too, they took care of Can, and you. They deserve some good food, not cafeteria food."

NIHAT: "okay Mevcabi, stop talking and let's take this food to the nurses, and the rest leave here for the family."

Can looks at Sanem "I love your aunt and uncle, there always taking care of everyone, especially my stomach she knows I love her food."they start laughing, "yes my aunt loves to feed people, it's the answer to everything, food!" Can had soup, he seems happy and hungry, and Sanem also ate, her family was very happy to see her so happy and hungry again.

They came and took Can for some test and Sanem took Leyla to the ICU with her to go see Nurse Meryem.

SANEM: " I love this nurse. She came down to see how Can was doing. She was such a caring person and I wanted to tell her thank you, and to tell her Can woke up.

They asked the nurse at the desk if Nurse Meryem is working today?

NURSE: " nurse who?  I never heard of her. Are you sure you got the name right?"

SANEM: "yes, she was Can's night nurse, and she came to visit Can and I when he was moved to his room."

the nurse asked all the other nurses but they never heard of her.

LEYLA: Sanem are you sure you got the name right?"

SANEM: " I am, that's so strange. She was so sweet"

When they went back down to the floor of Can's room, they asked the nurses there also if they ever heard of her and they said no. Sanem was surprised, who was she. " Leyla, I'm telling you she was here, she was so caring. That last time I saw her was late at night and she came to see us. She was so comforting. She took my hand and rubbed it, and I instantly got this calming sensation, and a feeling that Can is going to be okay."

"Leyla, I just got chills"

LEYLA: " me too sister, I have a feeling you had a heavenly visitor."Sanem was crying.

SANEM: " I think you are right, the doctor did say Can had a guardian angel, and he was right. I wish I can see her one more time to say thank you."

The girls hugged each other, " Sanem I think she can hear you, and she's happy that you're happy and Can is recovered."

SANEM: "I think so too Leyla, Meryem, our guardian angel.  "Thank you Meryem where ever you are!"
