Chapter 2.5

Dragonblood - The Arrival

Chapter2.5

Sighing, Rei gently ran his hand through her hair. He could understand that it scared her and that she would like to have a happy life. But it was not impossible that she would have just that. A dragon who would take good care of her and respect her.

"And you're asking me to make the transformation quickly? How can you do that if you refuse to eat?" the guardian wanted to know. "Eating is an important part of it, to get your body used to the new circumstances and food," he explained.

"I would prefer to sleep until it's all over," she confessed, trying to explain to him that it was easier for her to be forced than to do it on her own. That way, she could blame someone else and wouldn't blame herself for helping to become what she would end up being.

Placing the soup bowl on the nightstand, Rei took her hands in his before giving them a light squeeze. "Believe me, if I were in a position to let you sleep through it all, I would do it without hesitation," he said softly. His voice reflected regret, for he was genuinely sorry that he, of all people, had to force her through the last two stages.

These were the worst because her body would change a lot, which was associated with pain that could hardly be alleviated.

He knew that her body would form the dragon attributes, and so far, he did not know if she could keep the leather cage, as the garment was called among the men, on during that time. It suppressed any kind of magic and prevented the transformation into a dragon. This could lead to complications but might also take away her pain at first.

"I don't want to actively help with this," she whispered, again retching slightly. The one small spoonful was hefty in her stomach.

"Then I'm sorry I'm going to force you. I don't want to do it, and yet I have no choice," Rei sighed, letting go of her hands and crossing his arms. Cold and condescending, he looked down at Quinn before walking around the bed to retrieve the funnel. He didn't seem to care at all that he was doing this to her.

Quinn moistened her lips. "Then ask one of the men," she said softly. That way, Rei could hold her and stand by her, even if she didn't think he would.

"What exactly do you mean?" Rei wanted to know with raised eyebrows while preparing some things.

"If you don't want to force me, then let someone else do it," she whispered tonelessly. She was aware that she would struggle, and she didn't want to do that to Rei. He was so nice to her, but she would still refuse.

He didn't really need help. The restraints and the funnel with the hose were enough to get his way. However, if it was her wish, he could comply. In his mind, he already went through some men who were suitable for it. Mako was ruled out, although he had given good advice.

Elgatos would offer itself for it. With him, Rei could be sure that he wouldn't touch or stare at Quinn since the man with the orange-red hair was into men. That didn't mean he hadn't walked women. It had been his duty, and he knew what happened and how to alleviate symptoms.

The older dragon was calm and level-headed but still continued to live on the island because he felt safe here, unlike others. This was because he was not accepted as long as he had a preference for men. Maybe that's why he better supported than Mako or Rei himself.

With him, it was worth a try. "Alright, if it is your wish. I'll go get Elgatos," Rei relented quietly.

Quinn lowered his eyes. "Then I don't have to hate you or be afraid of you," she whispered so softly that he barely heard. She knew she would be spending a lot of time with Rei, and it wasn't beneficial if she was afraid of him.

The guard was already on his way to the door when he turned around once more. He had heard her words despite the crackle of the fire. "Even if you do, I don't care," he remarked dryly. She wasn't here to become his wife. So he couldn't care if she hated him or not. It was better in any case. That way, the young woman wouldn't get used to him in the first place.

With these words, he left Quinn alone in the bed-chamber to fetch Elgatos.
