Chapter 437
Arielle Moore and Vinson Nightshire
Obsessed CEO Throws Himself at Me Chapter 437 Mason stiffened, then turned around slowly. He gave a dry chuckle and said, âIâm going to the library.
Iâm thinking of furthering my studies so that Iâll be a good match for Yvette.â
âIs that so?â Edmund drawled. He smiled and continued, âDonât push yourself too hard then, and donât stay out too late.â
âAll right.â Mason forced a smile before leaving hurriedly.
As soon as Mason had his back turned, Edmundâs amiable smile and demeanor disappeared. His expression turned icy cold.
He fished out his phone and called Russell immediately. âYou were right, Mr. Actonward. He left not long after you did.â
On the other end of the line, Russell sneered. âIs someone trailing him? Good. Send me his location. Iâll go and see what heâs up to.â
âRight away,â Edmund replied.
About half an hour later, Mason arrived in front of a jewelry store.
He cast a furtive glance around to make sure that no one was watching him before going in.
When the storeâs owner saw him, he pushed his glasses up his nose and asked, âAre you here to buy or pawn jewelry?â
âAre you the owner?â Mason asked.
The man nodded. âThatâs right. Are you here to pawn something?â
âI have something very valuable with me. Could you take a look and see how much itâs worth to pawn?â
As Mason spoke, he opened his backpack and carefully took out a jade statue as large as his palm.
The store owner looked excited as soon as he caught a glimpse of the statue.
âY-You want to pawn that?â he asked in surprise.
Mason placed the jade statue in front of the man. âGo ahead and take a look. How much is this worth?â
The owner took out a special light used to appraise gemstones. As he checked the jade statue, he would make remarks about the material, color, and clarity.
Mason did not understand a word the man said. He asked again, âTell me, how much is it worth?â
The owner fell into deep thought. A rough piece of jade with such quality and color could go for millions, let alone one with such masterful craftsmanship.
He raised his head and cast a glance at Mason. Seeing that Mason did not look like someone particularly well off, he asked warily, âWhere did you get this? I donât accept pieces with unknown origins.â
Mason swallowed hard before replying, âDonât worry. I took it from my house. Iâm pawning it because my wife is ill and needs a large sum of money for her treatment. Iâll come back for it in the future when I have the money.â
The man was still doubtful.
Iâm sure that thereâs more to it than he lets on. However, it doesnât make sense for me to turn down a chance to make money. Moreover, itâs clear heâs young and naive. I can quote him a much lower price than what itâs actually worth.
With that thought in mind, the man said, âThree million. No more than that. Although it has a beautiful color, the craftsmanship isnât that good. If I were to try and sell it, Iâm afraid.â
Without waiting for the man to come up with an excuse, Mason nodded. âAll right. Three million it is.
Please transfer the money to my account immediately.â
The owner looked at him, thrilled. I can sell this piece for tens of millions, but he agreed to pawn it for three million. If heâs not a fool, then he mustâve stolen it. Well, it doesnât matter. I have my ways to sell it off.
âWait right here! Iâll make some calls to our other branches and get the money. Iâll transfer it to you soon!â the owner said excitedly.
Just as he stepped out of the store to make the calls, he saw more than ten men dressed in black suits standing in front of him.
