chapter 15 (efforts)

Yibo had been working in Zhan's hospital for a week, everything had been just fine apart from one thing, Zhan can't leave him alone.

Zhan always comes to Yibo and begs him to talk to him.

"I want to talk to you Yibo." Zhan say's.

"Ooh ... you do? , after ignoring me for 5 years. Well Mr Xiao, guess what, I don't want to talk to you now...." Yibo said.

"Not now, Maybe tommorow?" Zhan asked.

"Maybe never" Yibo said and left.

When he got home, he couldn't eat because his mind was too preoccupied, he couldn't even sleep well at night. Zhan's bugging was clearly taking a toll on him and this was not good.

Yibo was sitting on his bed when his stomach churned.

He quickly got out of bed and ran to the bathroom where he vomited.

"It looks like my acid reflux has acted up" he whispered to himself.

He held his tummy and dragged himself to bed.

The following day, Zhan did not disturb Yibo or come close to him. All day Yibo would just glance at every tall person looking for a particular build but didn't see it.

"Zhan didn't come to work today if it's who you're looking for" Cheng whispered to him.

"Who says I'm looking for him, I hate him."

"Yibo, remember what Gulf said, you will always get what you hate." Cheng teased him.

"Oi, why I'm I even talking to you here, I have a surgery later and I'll go prepare for it now" Yibo said and ran away.

He himself didn't even know why he kept looking for him

After the surgery, Yibo went to his mother's office and did some more work there UpTo

9 pm then he went home. He was dead tired so he went straight to bed skipping his dinner in the process.

Riing...riing....

His phone rang.

"Hello, Dr Wang, there is an emergency and you're needed right away to the hospital"

Yibo woke up right away , brushed his teeth then wore his clothes, he didn't take a shower nor did he take some breakfast.

When he got to his car, he connected his phone to the Bluetooth and called his secretary.

"Give me the details Sam"

"A middle aged man and a woman, in a car accident, the woman is not much injured thus other doctors can handle him. However, the man got pierced on his chest thus needs a quick surgery, his head was also touched, you'll have to work with doctor Zhan on this case" Sam finished giving all the details.

"Okay Sam, thanks."

Yibos heartbeat had accelerated when he heard that he would work with Zhan.

He was partly happy because his nurse prepared him earlier otherwise he would have had a heart attack in the OR.

When Yibo got there, there was no time to waste, he quickly changed into his outfit and matched to or where he found that Zhan was already there together with some nurses who were doing the preparations like cleaning the dried blood off the man.

"What's the situation dr?" Yibo asked.

Zhan couldn't help but notice the fatigue in yibos voice and the bags under his eyes.

"It's pretty serious, I suggest you to start the operation since the chest is more sensitive, it might have touched the heart, then I will operate his head next."

Zhan suggested and Yibo agreed.

Yibo liked this about Zhan, he's just so professional in his work, even back in the days when Yibo used to be Zhan's assistant after school.

The doctors washed their hands and started the operation.

Yibos operation lasted 4hours and all this time Zhan stood there assisting him when he needed.

When Yibo finished, Zhan almost begged him to sit on the sofa and wait so he agreed.

He sat there watching Zhan but it didn't take long before he dozed of.

Zhan's operation took 2 hours, it was heavenly successful.

Zhan left his able nurses doing the final touches and cleaning then joined Yibo on the sofa.

"I knew you were tired baby....why are you overworking yourself " he whispered as he caressed yibos cheek softly.

"Yibo.... Yibo....get up...." He called

"Mmmmm....eeh.... have you finished?" Yibo asked as soon as he woke up.

"Yes, I finished just now and it was successful, now you don't have to worry." Zhan said.

Yibo got up and started walking to the door but he suddenly held his tummy.

He got that churn in his stomach and run quickly to the washroom and started vomiting, the most shocking thing was that today, he vomited blood.

Zhan came in the bathroom to check on him, Yibo got up faster than lightening and flushed the toilet not wanting Zhan to see the blood but it was too late.

"Yibo, are you sick?" Zhan asked worriedly.

"No, I'm fine"

"You have some blood in your mouth, are you sure you're fine?" Zhan asked again and Yibo nodded, then he proceeded to gurgle water in his mouth to get rid of the blood.

Yibo started walking away but he suddenly felt dizzy, his legs gave up on him and he fainted, Zhan quickly ran to him In panic and held him before he hit the floor.

Zhan quickly lifted Yibo and ran towards the gastirical ward hoping to find the doctors free.

"He's suffering from severe acid reflux, that's why he fainted." The gastroenterologist gave him his report.

"What can we do to treat it?" Zhan asked calmly.

"He needs to stick to the prescription and also follow this nutrition plan."  the doctor said and gave him a piece of paper.

"Thanks doc...."

When the doctor left, Zhan sat beside Yibo and held his hand.

"What happened to you this past years, I can never forgive myself if anything happens to you" he said softly.

"I will take care of you from now on." Zhan promised.

This was giving him flashbacks of when he first met Yibo and the way Yibo was sleeping on the hospital bed just like now, he never wants to experience that again.

When Yibo woke up, he demanded to go home right away much against Zhan's protests.

"I'll drive you" Zhan said but Yibo refused, they were now in the parking lot.

"Get in the car Yibo, don't be stubborn" Zhan warned.

When Yibo continued to resist, Zhan came and carried him forcefully to the car, he sat him down and pulled his seat belt on then locked the door on yibos side trapping him there.

He got in from the driver's side and started driving to Yibos house, all this time, the little lion was just glaring at him viciously.

"We're here" Zhan announced.

"Hey, how did you know the direction to my house? I didn't tell you" Yibo asked.

"Well, I looked it up in your profile" Zhan lied, he had actually followed Yibo home a few times before.

They got out and went towards the house.

"Where do you think you're going?" Yibo asked.

"I'll take you in, I'll make sure you're okay."

"I'm fine, just go home"

"Yibo.... please let me..."

"Whatever..."

When they got in, Yibo went to his bedroom to take the much needed bath and left Zhan in the kitchen preparing his meal.

Zhan looked at the fridge only to find some noodles but thankfully, there were also some broccoli and carrots which were almost going bad.

Zhan prepared the meal and put it on the table.

Yibo came from the bathroom and found Zhan standing beside the dining table.

"Please eat this, it will be good for your tummy. Also take this medicine after meal, I'll send you some breakfast tommorow morning." Zhan said calmly.

"I don't need your pity doctor Zhan, neither do I need your concern, I have been taking care of myself just fine and didn't need you chirping in....now, just get out of my house and don't come back, and I also don't need your food." Yibo said coldly and opened the door wide motioning Zhan to get out.

Zhan lowered his head and left almost in tears.

Yibo closed the door and fell right there in tears.

"Why are you doing this to me? What wrong did I do to you?" He cried for awhile then got up and sat on the dining chair.

He opened the food and ate a spoonful.

"Even noodles cooked by you taste heavenly. "  He said and ate the rest of the noodles.
