2 | HAYLEY'S GONE
WAR OF HEARTS • hayley marshall
"Khalia, wake up!" Rebekah yells in a panic.
"Go away, I'm trying to sleep here." She mumbles back but with her superatural hearing, Rebekah heard her just fine.
"You've been sleeping for nearly an entire day." The blonde complains in confusion. How the hell does one person sleep so much?
"I haven't had a proper sleep in nearly two weeks." The brunette counters.
"Well, no one told you to get high of blood and move from one club to the other without stopping or sleeping." This time, Rebekah didn't even get a response to her words.
"Hayley's gone." At these words, Khalia shot up in her bed, wide awake, panic and worry spreading through her. Rebekah notices this and smiles slightly. Maybe Hayley and this baby can help two of her siblings. Although she doubts either wants to be helped at the moment, but all in due time right?
"Dammit." She swore under her breath and looked at her sister as got out of bed. "Gone as in taken gone or what?" The brunette asks the blonde.
"I don't know, I was out and when I came home, she was just gone." She explains and Khalia sighed as her quickly used her vampire speed to get dressed.
"I thought you were looking for Elijah." Khalia says, her tone confused.
"We were but when we didn't find anything I went to see a witch. The one Elijah told me about and since werewolves are banned from the Quater, I left her here." Rebekah rambles and Khalia nods as she takes in her words
"Then that's were we start, if she's there and a vampire spots her, she's dead." Rebekah nodded her words and the words left an sting in Khalia's heart and her stomach feeling unsettled but she pushed it down and sped of the the Quater with Rebekah.
"Nothing, you?" Khalia asks once they made their way around the French Quater.
"Not a thing." Rebekah replies and Khalia feels a little relieved because that means Hayley isn't in immediate danger but all her relief was wiped away and panic bloomed in her once again when she saw Hayley being cornerd by two vampires and one laying on the ground behind her.
"There!" The brunette says, pointing to where the pregnant girl is standing and sped towards her. Khalia rips out the one's heart and Rebekah snaps the other's neck. Hayley gapes at the two in shock but smiles widely when she notices the relief on Khalia's face.
"Now, that is no way to treat a pregnant lady. I do hate bad manners." Rebekah says and Khalia throws the heart on the ground. Hayley's eyes stays on Khalia and Rebekah notices this and smiles. Maybe there is hope for her sister yet.
"You wound me, Bex." Kol's twin says in mock hurts, placing her hand over her heart - the clean one.
"Eh, I've had a thousand years to get use to you." She says teasingly. Knowing that Khalia will task her with Hayley, she makes a quick plan so that Khalia had no choice but to take her home herself. "See you at home." With that, she sped of - grining as she did so - leaving the vampire and the werewolf alone.
"Thanks for saving me." Hayley pipes up, her voice soft.
Khalia turned to her with a glare. "Klaus specifically told you to stay at home and out of the Quater. And what do you do, you come here. To the Quater. Where werewolves are banned and killed when they are found." She rants in the anger from the worry and panic her felt and Hayley looks down in shame. "And if you weren't in danger, I would let you walk back home."
Hayley's head snapped up to her and looked at her with sorrow in her eyes. "Sorry."
"I don't care." Khalia says, putting her mask back on when her heart skipped a beat when they locked eyes. "But Klaus will. You better start thinking of an epic explanation." Ignoring the hurt on Hayley's face, she wiped her hand clean - sort of - on her jeans and stepped forward to pick the werewolf up bridal style.
"What are you doing?" Hayley asked starteld, gripping Khalia's shoulders for support. Warmth crept up on both Hayley and Khalia's faces at the intimate position.
"Taking you home." Was her simple explanation before she sped of, pushing the thoughts of how Hayley fit perfectly in her arms to the back of her mind. Arriving home, she saw Klaus in the front courtyard throwing the bodies into a small pile, more that likely to burn them.
Khalia gently put Hayley down and the werewolf gave her a smile.
"Thank you." The pregnant girl says and the Original nods, humming in acceptance.
"Here we go." Khalia mutters as she was Klaus storming to them. She unconsiously took a protective stance besides Hayley and Klaus noticed this as he stopped in front of them. He didn't know why she wanted to protect Hayley but he wasn't about to get his neck snapped, knowing that's excactly that's what she will do if he questioned her actions. And she was right, he wouldn't dagger her.
"Get out here, Rebekah." Klaus calls into the direction of the house and said vampire appeared seconds after hearing the Hybrid's words. She noticed the way Khalia was standing and smiled slightly.
Klaus turns back to his pile throws a final body onto it while he berates Rebekah and Hayley for their behavior while Khalia stays put, listening to his rant.
"This is why I told you never to leave the house. Werewolves are banned in the Quarter. I had a plan, and your little nighttime stroll put it all in peril!" The hybrid shouts and Khalia growls inaudibly, not liking how he was talking to Hayley.
"Leave him!" He shouts to Rebekah, who had started walking toward the pile of bodies, one of them was still alive but at Klaus' last command, she stops.
"You've done enough, don't you think? Leaving a trail of bodies like a road map to my door?" Klaus shouts at Rebekah.
"And exactly what have you done, execpt daggering Elijah?" The brunette Original sneered at her older brother.
"Don't give me that crap about having a plan. You've had all the time in the world to execute a plan, and no one's seen you do a damn thing!" Rebekah states, agreeing with her sister. "Elijah made a deal to protect your child, so that it could save you from your selfish, rotten self. But you obviously don't give a damn about the child or Elijah, because what have you done to honor it?"
"I have done everything. Let me spell it out for you, shall I? From the day I arrived, Marcel hasn't trusted me. From Day One, he's had his vampires ingest toxic vervain which, as you know, little sister, protects them from my mind control. I needed a spy, someone on the inside with me who Marcel would never suspect. So, I created a Day Zero and got there first. Marcel had just lost six vampires, thanks to your little murder spree, and he needed new recruits. So, I made the new one mine, before he'd had even a drop of vervain. But we all know the real way to a man is through his heart, so I compelled a bartender he's taken an interest in. And this one I'm gonna drain him of vervain, compel him to believe his mates found religion and moved to Utah, so that he can explain to Marcel why he lost three more vampires tonight." The hybrid explains and Khalia nods as she takes in his words.
"Okay, I'll say it. I'm impressed." Khalia compliments as Klaus drags the vampire into the house, while she, Hayley and Rebekah follows him inside. A small smile appeared on the Hybrid's face at her words but he hid it as quick as it came.
"Does anyone have any more questions? No? Good, because I have a question. Hayley, what were you doing in the bloody French Quarter in the first place?" He asks the pregnant werewolf and Khalia turns to her, wanting to know the answer as well. "Answer me!" The male shouted when Hayley didn't answer him.
"Leave her be." Rebekah tells him and Khalia rolled her eyes. Like he's going to listen to her.
"You wanna know what I was doing? I was buying poison, so I could put your little baby out of its misery." The werewolf tells him and Khalia's eyes widened at her words and glanced at her brother just in time to see him getting ready to run at the werewolf. The Original threw herself infront of Hayley and instead of the pregnant girl being grabbed by her throat and choked, it was Khalia.
"Khalia!' Hayley shouted in horror and panic, and was about to run towards the two but Rebekah stopped her.
"Don't." The blonde told her sternly. "She can take care of herself, even against Klaus."
The girl gasped for air as Klaus tightened his grip on her neck, not having realised it was his sister in his grip - still blind with anger. The dark haired Original lifted her leg between Klaus' and kneed him with all of her strength, making him lose his grip and making him sink to his knees in pain. Khalia quickly took Klaus by his neck and used all of her vampire strength to keep him pinned to the wall.
"Don't you dare touch her." She snarled in a dangerously low tone and the hybrid nodded as he gasped for air, causing the girl to let him go. Knowing she couldn't keep him down for much longer.
"Are you okay?" Hayley asked the girl as she took deep breaths to calm herself, and the second she heard the werewolf's voice, she calmed down immensely. Khalia was going give her a rude remark but when she saw the worry in Hayley's eyes, she got a warm feeling inside of her and sighed, deciding to give her an honest answer.
"I'm fine." She told her, giving the pregnant girl the smallest of smiles, making a warm feeling - identical to what Khalia felt - erupt inside of Hayley, causing her to smile widely.
"All of this bluster about not wanting the child, and then the second she tells you she's ready to get rid of it? It's okay to care. It's okay to want something. That's all Elijah was trying to do, all he's ever wanted for you. All we've ever wanted." Rebekah told him and Klaus, calmed down but reeling from being confronted with his feelings, sits down on the stairs. Rebekah sits beside him as Khalia stood infront of him, Hayley next to her. Rebekah gave her sister a look saying, 'say something to him', and the girl rolled her eyes before telling her,
"I can't give him comforting words when I'm just as bad as him." Her simply yet, honest words caused Hayley to frown at her. Just who is this woman?
The one second she's trying to kill her and the next, she's saving her .
"I gave Elijah to Marcel." Klaus suddenly announced making Khalia glare at him.
"What?" Rebekah and Khalia asked simultaniously but in two very different voice tone. Rebekah's soft and disbelieving while Khalia's was loud and disbelieving and boy if looks could kill, Klaus Mikaelson would be twenty feet under.
"Marcel was nervous. It's bad enough one Original returned to town, but two? His crew was getting antsy. He wanted Elijah gone, so... I gave him a peace offering." The hybrid explained to his two sisters and the girl he impregnated.
"You bartered our brother?" Rebekah asked in disgust, and Niklaus gave a little nod.
"Unbelievable." Khalia commented with a huff, shaking her head in disbelief. "All he wanted was to help you. For a thousand years. And look what you do."
"I have a plan. Gain Marcel's trust, dismantle his empire, honor Elijah's wish that that baby be born. I am executing that plan the only way I know how. If you don't like it, there's the door. See if I care." Klaus rises and leaves the room and Khalia makes a choking gesture with her hands, and a frustrated facial expression behind his back, barely resisting the urge to really do it, making Hayley bite her lip to surpress a smile. Meanwhile, Rebekah leans back, her work cut out for her.
"Now what?" Khalia asks, breaking the silence.
"I have no idea." Rebekah comments and female Original nodded with pursed lips.
"So..." Kol's twin starts, drawing out the 'o', making the two females look at her. "We're screwed." She deadpans.

Later on, Rebekah is sitting on the back porch of the house when Hayley comes out and joins her. The two starts talking about Klaus and Rebekah's old boyfriends that Klaus killed and how she finally stopped falling in love and then Hayley gave her three daggers. Kol's, Khalia's and Rebekah's. And then they came to the topic of that which is Khalia Mikaelson.
"She's a confusing one, isn't she?" Hayley comments, pointing to the house as a referal to the dark haired Original female.
Rebekah nods as she answers, "She wasn't always. But after Kol died, she took it the worst and she went of the deep end."
"Yeah, Elijah told me that." The werewolf tells the vampire.
"Look, Hayley, I'm going to be honest with you." Rebekah said seriously. "Khalia is a difficult person to get to know. A very difficult one. I can see you like her already, but that's not going to be enough. My sister is the best frighter alive and a deadly weapon, but unless you're family, she's emotionally retarded. She's going to push you away, but you're going to have to push back harder. Show her that you're not going to leave her." The blonde tells her, and Hayley stares at her - mouth slightly agape.
"How did you know?" The werewolf asked in disbelief, not seeing the point in denying the truth. She did like the dark haired female Original in a romntic manner but she figured that the girl wouldn't be interested and that she was only worried about her because she is carry a future member of the Mikaelson family.
"When you spend a thousand years falling in love, you learn a thing or two." She told the brunette with a gentle smile and hands her one of the daggers.
"Go give it to her. But be quick because I need her help." Rebekah said with an encouraging smile and Hayley took it with a nervous one.

Yes, sweetheart is going to be what Khalia calls her. Sorry, I'm a sucker for nicknames.
In other news, I'm going to finish season 1 of my Davina Claire fic them I'll pay more attention to my other fics because I've been neglecting them.
Khalia is, to put it in simple words, fucked up and broken. Kol's death shattered her. That's going to have a big impact on her relationship with Hayley.
