âAre all this theatrics really necessary?â Klaus Mikaelson asked his sister, looking at the Sheriff she had bound to the chair with amusement shining in his eyes. Bodies littered the restaurant, all of the men and woman that consisted of the human faction was dead. All except for one. The one that gave the order to shoot up the Compound. The one that nearly hurt Khaliaâs sweet heart. The Sheriff. See, the female Mikaelson decided to take her time with him, to make him hurt like Hayley would have been hurt. There was butter knives â that she took from the kitchen â sticking out of his legs, both his eyes are turning blue, his arms was broken and he had a steak knife sticking into his stomach. But, he wouldnât die. She made sure of that, knowing where to stab so that she wouldnât hit any major arteries that would cause him to die sooner. Unfortunately she had to compel him to keep quiet or someone would have called the police if they heard his screams of pain, denying her the pleasure of hearing his pain.
The girl in question simply snorted and glanced away from her handiwork and to her brother, a smirk gracing her lips. âThatâs rich. Coming from you and all.â
âAre you going to kill him?â A voice asked and she turned to one of the last living members of the human faction.
âYes.â The Mikaelson female admitted unapologetically and the Sheriffâs eyes widened, but he was to tired to fight the restraints. Kieranâs jaw clenches violently and she smirks before turning back to her captured prey. âLet this be a warning for the entire supernatural community: come near my family and you will die. Itâs really not that hard to understand.â
The Hybrid looks at the father. âThere he is. Our lone survivor. Such a sad day for our city.â He pats Father Kieran on the shoulder. âSome of its best and brightest killed in a tragic boating accident on the Mississippi. Rather nasty explosion, I heard.â He looks Kieran in the eyes. âWhat am I going to do with you?â
âKill him.â Khalia deadpanned, picking up another steak knife from the collection she took out of the kitchen. The vampire carved the word âsinnerâ on his forehead and then proceeded to slice his cheekbones deeply. Satisfaction rammed through her as she watched pain fill his eyes.
Marcel stands up and joins them anxiously. âOkay, hold up. I've known Kieran for a long time. He's smart and he's fair. I think he can do us more good alive than dead.â
âWhat are you? His little cheerleader?â The immortal girl could not help but quip as she cut of one of the Sheriffâs ears. The father wanted to say something to her, but one look at the man he considered a friend made him wisely keep his mouth shut as he did not want to end up like that. His stomach churned and bile rose up in his throat
âNot to mention he's Cami's uncle.â The blonde looks at him suspiciously and Khalia frowned, not sure how a bartender she and Rebekah threatened had anything to do with Klaus. She though for a second and then remembered that her brother is using the blonde human to type his memoirs. Or something like that. âDon't see you care about things much, it's kinda hard not to notice when you do.â
âVery well. Use this reprieve to remake your human faction.â Klaus agreed easily and brows of disbelief rose on the brunette vampireâs. She canât believe her brother agreed this quickly. Maybe Marcel was onto something with what he just said about the bartender.
The human was clearly overwhelmed. âAnd how do you expect me to remake the Mayor?â
âWell, surely there's a deputy Mayor? Choose new leaders. Then we'll re-open negotiations.â The Hybrid told him and turned to his sister. âAre you coming, Khalia, or are you going to continue playing with the human?â The vampire girl tilted her head as she thought about this for second and shrugged.
âEh, Iâve had my fun with him.â With her vampire speed she shot forward and ripped out the Sheriffâs throat, smiling in glee as he choked to death on his own blood. She walked back to Klaus and the two walked out, the girl grinning happily as she did so.
âThat girl is crazy.â Kieran noted, his voice quivering and fear shining brightly in his eyes. Marcel turned to him with a blank look on his face.
âYeah, well, she isnât called the Demon Mikaelson for nothing.â

The female vampire was lounging in her room, she was sitting with her back against her head board and her legs stretched out in front of her while reading a book about pregnancy. She was deep in concentration, carefully reading the lines and committing everything to memory. Khalia was so deep in though that she didnât hear her door opening and Hayley walking into the room. A fuzzy warm filled the werewolfâs chest as she read the title of the book that her vampire is reading, âExpecting Mothers.â
Somewhere along the line, probably when she felt a burning stare on her face, Khalia became aware of Hayleyâs presence in her room. For a good ten seconds she felt utterly embarrassed as she realized that the pregnant girl caught her reading a book about her current state. She internally shrugged it off and decided to catch the werewolf off guard instead. âLike what you see, sweetheart?â
Hayleyâs heart went haywire and her cheeks flushed when Khalia turned her head and locked her brown eyes on the werewolfâs green ones. A sheepish look took residence on Hayleyâs face and she was tempted to say yes. âI-Iâm sorry. I didnât mean-â
âRelax, Iâm just joking.â The immortal girl assured her with a gentle smile, one that made Hayleyâs stomach clench deliciously. Khalia watched as the pregnant girl hovered awkwardly in the door way and patted to the empty spot besides her on her King sized bed. âCome sit.â It was all the invitation Hayley needed as she forced herself not to run to the bed. Climbing onto the bed, she sat as close to the vampire as possible but without invading her personal space and chasing the Mikaelson away. Apples and rain invaded Khaliaâs nose.
âI take from your lack of badgering me to save your pack, that youâve found another way to help them.â Khalia noted matter-of-factly, flipping the page of her book. Hayley tensed slightly, wondering if she should tell the truth or if she should lie.
âYeah, uh, Rebekah and Elijah came by earlier and I asked them to help my family.â The werewolf decided on telling the truth. There was no point in lying to her, in this town, everything eventually came out. The vampire gripped her book tighter.
âAnd why were they here?â She asked, her jaw clenched and she narrowed her eyes dangerously, not reading anything as she waited for an answer. This time, Hayley froze fully.
âThey offered to get me out of here.â The werewolf admitted and anger swept through the immortal girl like a tidal wave. She took a deep breath, deciding that she wasnât going to let her rage control her. She closed the book and placed it on her bedside table before she ripped it apart. Hayley took her silence as a bad sign. âI-I didnât say yes. I donât want to leave here.â She said quickly, turning to the vampire girl. The, I donât want to leave you, was unsaid. Silence enveloped them.
âWhat did you to the human faction?â Hayley asked, not liking the brooding-in-silence-Khalia. She had a pretty good idea of what the immortalâs did to the humans, but she wanted the vampire to talk to her again.
âKlaus, Marcel and I slaughtered them.â She answered flatly, looking at the werewolf girl, wanting to know if Hayley would be scared or disgusted by her. She found neither, looking into those enticing sea-green eyes. They stared at each other, gravitating closer and closer to each other until they were only inches apart.
âIâm not afraid of you.â The pregnant girl said softly, but firmly.
âYou should be.â The Mikaelson countered, her own voice soft and even a little vulnerable. Hayley nodded as if to say âI knowâ but didnât make a move to back away or get away from one of the most dangerous beings in the world. Then something caught Hayleyâs eye.
âWhat is this?â The mortal girl asked, pointing to the necklace around Khaliaâs neck, the one with the ring on it. The one she has seen the vampire wear every single day for as long as sheâs known her. Her curiosity just finally got the best of her. Khalia looked down, bringing her hand up and taking the necklace in her hand, fiddling with the ring. She debated whether to tell Hayley about it or not.
âIt, uh, it was Kolâs. Itâs his daylight ring.â Her voice wobbled with raw emotion and Hayley instantly felt bad for asking about it. The devastating pain was swirling clearly in the vampireâs eyes. She took a deep breath and turned away from Hayley as she continued. âIt was the only thing that didnât burn with him. It is all I have left of him.â Her voice was so soft, so pained, so wrecked, so unlike the badass Khalia she knew. Her heart clenched in her chest, aching for the girl that lost so much but kept going on.
âYou must miss him a lot.â Hayley spoke softly, taking a giant leap and took Khaliaâs hand, intertwining their fingers and moving closer to the Mikaelson, so that they were shoulder to shoulder, their bodies warming up in the best way possible. She didnât grip it, giving the vampire the chance to pull away and when she didnât, the werewolf tightened her grip. As did Khalia.
âEvery second of every day.â The immortal brunette agreed with a somber nod. Out of the corner of her eye, Hayley saw the vampire open her mouth as if to say something, but she closed her mouth. A few seconds later she opened mouth again. The werewolf sat in silence, waiting for the vampire to say whatever she wants to say. Eventually she got the words out. âI, uh, wasnât near him when it happened. I tried to get to him, but I was too late. And Iâ¦.I never got to say goodbye.â
Kol Mikaelson stood watching over his beloved twin sister from the other side with tears in his eyes. Heâs been watching her since the second he died, following her everywhere. He saw how the coldness in her eyes fades a little when she is around the werewolf, how her eyes warm up. How happiness lights in her eyes around the pregnant girl, no matter how much she may deny it or if no one else can see it. He can. She is his twin, and he knows her better than anyone else. He misses talking to her, but at least he can still see her. He walked forward and placed a hand on her shoulder. âI miss you too, sis. Iâll always be with you, every step of the way. Iâll be watching as you live it for the both of us, Lia.â
Hayley didnât know what to say, but that was alright because Khalia didnât want words. She just wanted, for a reason she didnât know but believes it has something to do with the way the werewolf makes her feel, her to know. She wants to let it out. She wants to grieve. She wants to heal.
And so they sat, side by side, the pregnant girl resting her head on Khaliaâs shoulder and smiling goofily when the vampire allowed it and even wrapped and arm around her shoulders. Hayley snuggled into the Originalâs side, wrapping an arm around her waist. Before long, the Mikaelson heard soft snores coming from the girl in her arms and gently moved her so that they were laying down. In her sleep the werewolf let out a sigh of content as she snuggled closer to the vampire, moving her head to Khaliaâs chest and tangled their legs.
Khalia knew that what she was allowing right now is only going to pull her in deeper into the sea of feelings that Hayley is awakening in her. But with the soft, even, content breaths of the werewolf reaching her ears and the fuzzy warmth spreading through her body and into her bones, Khalia couldnât find it in herself to care. She could go back to being her normal cold and distant self tomorrow, but for now, for this moment, she is going to enjoy the presence of the pregnant werewolf sleeping in her arms with a feeling of content bliss falling over her as nothing in her life has ever felt as fight as this moment.
