WAR OF HEARTS • hayley marshall
After that incident, Khalia refused to leave Hayley's side, insisting that she's only doing it because Klaus will never let her hear the end of it. But despite her words, Rebekah knew better and Hayley didn't care, she just like the way Khalia was fussing over her. But eventually the craziest Mikaelson left when the werewolf asked her if she would make her a sandwich. The vampire immediately agreed. And that is how she ended up in the kitchen of the mansion, making ham and cheese bread for the pregnant girl in the house.
"You know, when I first met you, I thought you were a real bitch." Those was the words that Khalia heard the werewolf say when she made her way back to said girl's room. She chuckled at Hayley's bold and blunt words.
"What changed your mind?" Rebekah asked with a smile on her face as Khalia turned into the hallway where Hayley's room is. When the immortal brunette heard the werewolf laugh, she couldn't help but smile, a toothless one, but it was still a smile. "Oh, I still think you're a bitch! I've just grown to like that about you." With the toothless smile still in place, the vampire walked into the room and to Hayley.
"Well, that's Bex for you. She tends to grow on you. As for the bitch part, I take complete credit for that." She quipped, the smile turning into a large smirk. "Here you go, sweetheart." Khalia said affectionately as she handed the plate of sandwiches to the werewolf. Hayley beamed up at the vampire as she took the plate and warmth spread through the brunette Mikaelson and for a second she allowed herself to bask in the feeling she got from the pregnant werewolf before she pushed it down again.
The blonde chuckled, "Aw, well, that's sweet of you two to say." Her face becomes more serious and her eyes flickered to her sister before she added, "Remember it when I'm gone."
Dread built up in Khalia as she realised where Rebekah was heading with her words. Hayley, however, didn't know. "Gone? Where are you going?"
"She's leaving." The eldest Mikaelson in the room filled in for the pregnant girl. Her tone was icy and there was an accusatory glint in her brown orbs that she shared with Kol.
"I only came to town to make sure everything was okay with Elijah. He's fine, and he hasn't punished Klaus for daggering him, so... as usual, they'll be thick as thieves, and I'll be left to clean up the mess. It's time for me to fly the coop." Rebekah defended herself, looking at the werewolf. She turned to her sister, "And you would just let them do whatever they want because unless it threatens our lives, you don't care about what happens around you."
Khalia opened her mouth to object to her sister's words but she shut it when she realised Rebekah was telling the truth. "That's true." The brunette vampire agreed with a nod of her head. Hayley would never admit it, but that hurt her a lot more than she would have liked. Looking at the girl that plagues her mind pretty much every minute of every day, Hayley realised that her feelings for Khalia Mikaelson goes much deeper than a gigantic crush. How far they went, is something she didn't want to explore just yet in fear of getting hurt because she had a sinking feeling that having feelings for Khalia would only result in heartbreak for her.
"Oh..." The Marshall girl said, trailing of awkwardly. She picked up one of the sandwiches and she goes to bite the bread in her hand, but she suddenly starts to feel woozy before she gets the chance to eat it. The bread slips from her fingers and alarm bells goes of inside of Khalia's head.
The concerned frown on the blonde's face matched her brunette sister's. "What's wrong?" The sister duo asked in unison, the concern that she's feeling visible in her tone.
The werewolf shook her head, "I dunno, probably morning sickness..." She trailed off.
Rebekah placed a hand on Hayley's forehead and her eyes widened as she felt her temperature. "Oh, you're burning up, actually." Khalia's eyes widened in worry as she also placed her hand on the werewolf's forehead once Rebekah removed her hand.
She looked at her blonde sister, "Call Nik."

"As soon as that link is broken, I'm going to kill Agatha and Sohpie." Khalia snarled out venomously as she paced up and down, running a hand through her hair. Elijah and Klaus has just told them over the phone that Sophie had been injected with a needle that will kill Hayley and Klaus' baby by rising the werewolf's blood temperature by that old hag. This is now the second time that she has harmed Hayley and the Original decided that she will not live to see the next sunrise. And no one is going to stop her.
"It's Agnes." Rebekah corrects her sister but Khalia only rolled her eyes and muttered a 'whatever'. The brunette Original glanced at the werewolf who is laying in bed as the blonde vampire blots sweat from her forehead and chest with a washcloth. Worry ate at her stomach and she caught her bottom lip between her teeth.
"I'm going to fetch ice and clean water, try to keep her calm, please?" Rebekah asked and Khalia nodded as she stopped her pacing and went to Hayley's side. She took the werewolf's hand in her own and a wave of calm washed over both of them. Hayley's breathing evened out a little and Khalia's nerves settled ever so slightly. The Mikaelson gave the pregnant girl a small smile and Hayley's heart tripped at the sight.
They just sat there is silence and that's how Rebekah found them a few seconds later. A soft smiled curved on her lips as she saw the content and relaxed expressions on their faces, despite the situation. And that's when she realized that someday, she'll call Hayley her sister-in-law. It may take a few decades or even a century, but the pregnant girl is the person that will heal Khalia's broken heart.
Dropping the ice in the clean water that she also got while downstairs, the blonde washed the cloth in the clean water before handing the cloth to her sister. Khalia looked at it with wide eyes and shook her head. Rebekah gave her sister a soft smile and the a dark haired Mikaelson took the cloth and repeated what she had previously seen her sister do. "Elijah will be here any minute." The younger Mikaelson announced as she watched in awe as Hayley calmed down even further, even if she was burning up.
Hayley groaned before she said, "I feel like I've been microwaved."
"Hey! Just because you're carrying a baby doesn't mean you get to act like one! I'm sure my little niece is healing you up as we speak." Rebekah told her sternly and Khalia couldn't stop the chuckle that passed her lips.
"Look on the bright side, sweetheart," Khalia started, gaining both the blonde and the pregnant brunette's attention. "Now, you're hot as hell. Literally." It was a lame joke and not one of her best lines, but the light laugh that came from the werewolf, made it worth it. And Rebekah laughed to, but that's not as important.
The moment between the three woman was interrupted by Elijah, who runs in with Sophie. Rebekah stands to greet them, but is appalled when she sees who Elijah has brought with him. Luckily for the oldest Mikaelson and the witch, Khalia's eyes are still on Hayley and her hands are still blotting sweat from her.
"What the hell is she doing here?" The blue eyed vampire's statement caught Khalia's attention and she turned her head. She would have sped over to the witch had it not been for the tight grip Hayley has on the hand that isn't busy dabbing sweat of her.
Sophie sighed, knowing that the two Mikaelson sister's won't accept her help easily, "I'm trying to help."
Khalia scoffed loudly but didn't say anything. The same could not be said for Rebekah, "Help? You're the reason we're in this bloody mess!" She all but shouted at the witched before she turned to her brother. "Why aren't we unlinked with this witch already, Elijah?" It wasn't so much a question as it was a demand.
"Rebekah, let her do what she can." The brunette vampire rolled her eyes at her oldest brother. She's not stupid, she knows that Elijah likes Hayley as more than a friend. An spark of possessiveness and that warm angry feeling towards Elijah burned through her at the thought.
"I may know a way to slow the fever down. But, I'm gonna need some special herbs." Sophie said and for the first time since they've arrived, Khalia spared her a glance. The witch turns and looks at Rebekah. "I'll text you a list."
"I'm no one's fetch girl." The blonde spat, crossing her arms over her chest. Khalia quickly pulled her hand out of Hayley's, placed down the cloth, got of the bed and sped in front of the witch. None of the four beings in the room missed disapproving sound coming from the werewolf when the Mikaelson girl left her side.
"I'll do it." She said determinedly. "And I really do hope that a witch tries to stop me." A dark look made its way onto Khalia's face and an involuntary shiver made its way down Sophie's spine - and not the good kind.
"Khalia," Hayley moaned out, her breathing unsteady because of the lack of Khalia's hand and presence to anchor her to reality. All eight eyes went to her. "Please don't go." Said vampire looked torn between wanting to find the ingredients that will help with her discomfort and giving the werewolf what she wants.
Rebekah heaved a heavy sigh, but there was a smile on her lips and a teasing glint in her eyes as she said. "I'll play fetch girl, you stay here and watch over your 'sweetheart", Khalia." And then she was gone with a whoosh of air.
With a roll of her eyes, the craziest Mikaelson made her way back to Hayley's side but was thrown of balance as a sudden surge of hunger swept through her. Moving on their own accord, Khalia's eyes made their way to the werewolf's neck. She would be an easy target, she's weak. The female Mikaelson shook her head and forced her eyes away from the pregnant girl. For the first time in a thousand years, Khalia was horrified and disgusted by her bloodlust and in fear of losing control, she sped out of the room and down to the kitchen to tame her hunger with the blood bags in the refrigerator.
Hayley lifted her hand towards Khalia but said girl only shook her head and sped out of the room. Tears filled her eyes and fell out of the corners of her eyes of their own will. Elijah saw this, but he also saw his sister's eyes darken with hunger and he knew that she removed herself before she could hurt Hayley. Now the noble vampire had two choices: one, he could tell Hayley what he saw or two, he could leave it be and let Hayley make her own conclusions.
A quiet sigh slipped past his lips as he said, "She just went to feed. She's hungry and doesn't want to hurt you." He wasn't sure if he should have kept quiet, but when he saw Hayley's face light up and her lips quirk up, he decided that it was worth it.
"Okay, we need to move her outside to the pool." Sophie announced to Elijah. "Can you walk?" She asked the werewolf. Hayley shook her head. It was true, she couldn't her legs felt like it was on fire but she also hoped that Khalia would carry her like she did when she fainted after Agnes tried to kill her the first time. She liked the feeling of her vampire's arms around her. She internally smacked herself, she shouldn't be thinking about Khalia like that, especially when the Original has done nothing to show that she likes her back - hell, she looks like she barely tolerates the werewolf. But nonetheless, she still couldn't help what she felt.
Hayley's hope was flushed down the drain when she smelt a manly scent accompanied by two suit covered arms picking her up. Elijah walked down the stairs with Hayley in his arms and he felt the werewolf getting warmer and warmer as they walked. Her eyes fluttered close and her head ran limp.
That was the scene that Khalia came across. She was walking out of the kitchen and towards the linen closet to get some towels that Sophie shouted for her to get - for Hayley because the witch had a sinking feeling that Khalia Mikaelson wouldn't do a damn thing to help her.
A certain type of dread and hurt took residence in Khalia's stomach, similar to what she felt as she saw Kol burn to ashes in the Gilbert house. And it terrified her. She sped over to her brother and the werewolf that is awakening all sorts of feeling inside of her. "Sweetheart?" She called out in a panic and it didn't escape Elijah's ears. He knew from what Rebekah and Klaus told him that Hayley cares about their sister and that they suspect that she cares about the wolf, but he didn't think that they translated Khalia's actions correctly. From that panic and worry in her voice, he had to admit that they were right. He just didn't know if Khalia has or ever would admit to it.
The female Mikaelson called out a few more times before Hayley moaned as her eyes fluttered open and a breath that she didn't realized she was holding, escaped Khalia. The crazy Mikaelson smiled, actually smiled. Her teeth and two absolutely adorable dimples showed on each of her cheeks on her brightly lit face as she looked down at the sweaty werewolf. Hayley felt her heart still for a moment as she took in the glorious sight that was Khalia.
"Put me down, I'm fine." The werewolf told Elijah, who reluctantly did so. He knew she wasn't fine, but wasn't about to say anything because he saw the glint in her eyes. It reminded him of Rebekah when she was planning something. And he'd bet money that her plan was to end up in his younger sister's arms. His thoughts was proven true when the werewolf swayed and Khalia steadied her by the shoulders before scooping Hayley up bridal style.
With a soft smile on his face, Elijah turned around to go and get some towels. Knowing Khalia wasn't going to let go of Hayley.
