10 | TAKING ABOUT KOL; SORT OF
WAR OF HEARTS • hayley marshall
The Mikaelson trio that consisted of Khalia, Klaus and Rebekah was back in the living room. Hayley was in her room and Elijah was God knows where. The latter of the three was busy scrubing at the bloodstains in the carpet while Klaus continues to read 'A Poison Tree.' and Khalia was pouring herself a drink.
"Poetry about poisoned apples dead trees. Looks like someone's worried about impending daddy-hood." Rebekah said, momentarily stopping her scrubbing to look up a her brother.
"I'd be worried to if I were him, I mean he called the baby 'that' a few days ago." Khalia commented with a smirk on her face and downed her drink. She looked at the alcohol for a second before shrugging and grabbing the bottle.
Klaus shook his head, "Nonsense. Elijah's back. In his presence, all problems turn to pixie-dust and float away!" The oldest female snorted in amusement as Rebekah side-eyed and grins, and Klaus grins back.
"I thought it was unicorns and rainbows." Khalia remarked as she sat down on a couch and crossed her legs indi-style before taking a long drink of the tequila. The two blondes just smiled at their crazy sister.
Elijah, having heard his siblings talking about him, joins them in the living room. "Strange, I don't recall any pixie-dust from the darkness of the coffin I was recently forced to endure."
"Unicorns and rainbows?" Khalia asked with a smirk, just because she's a little shit and this time Klaus and Rebekah laughed heartily. Elijah rolled his eyes and opens Esther's grimoire and flips through it.
Khalia saw this and narrowed her eyes. She may not know much, but she knows what a grimoire is and how her mother's looks. She was about to ask him what he's doing when Rebekah beat her to it, "What are you doing with Mother's spellbook?"
"Well, in exchange for my freedom, I promised the witch Davina that I would share a few pages from Mother's grimoire to help her learn to control her magic." He informed his siblings and Khalia face palmed with her free hand.
"Well, it's official. You've gone bonkers." The brunette declared as she took another gulp of tequila.
"I thought we'd begin with a little un-linking spell." He added on, knowing his sister will be pleased with this information - Rebekah told him everything last night after Khalia left and although he felt something for the werewolf, it is clear that she does not feel the same. It was clear this morning. Rebekah and Klaus look at each other in confusion as Khalia sat up with a grin.
"Or maybe you're a genius." She said and held out her bottle of tequila to him. He chuckled at her and shook his head 'no'. The brunette female may not have liked witches or wanted anything to do about it but Kol talked about it so much that she was bound to pick up something.
"Wait, you want to use her to un-link Hayley from Sophie Deveraux?" Rebekah questioned, confused.
"Sophie brought us here under false pretenses! She doesn't just want us to take down Marcel and his minions, she wants to take Davina back. So, she yolked her own cause to ours with magic threats and half-truths! Well, no more. As of now, our deal with Sophie Deveraux is null and void." Elijah said and Khalia fist pumped in the air while Klaus and Rebekah smile wryly at each other.
"Niklaus, I need you to come with me. I need five minutes alone with Davina. You need to make certain that I am not interrupted." The darker haired man ordered his Hybrid brother and Khalia raised her eyebrows. He points to Rebekah and Khalia and thinks for a moment before giving his order to them. "You stay here and watch Hayley." He turned around, ready to leave.
"Excuse me?" Khalia asked, her tone sharp and her eyebrows raised. Sharp enough to make Elijah stop in his track and turn back. The girl stood up and walked until she was infront of her brother. "The only reason I'm not going to object to that order, is because I don't have a problem with Hayley and actually enjoy her presence. But do it again and I'll smack you." She told him sternly. Even if she was slightly buzzed from all the blood that she drank that night and the multiple bottles of vodka she's had during the night, plus the half bottle of tequila, she was still terrifying as shit. Elijah nodded before leaving the house.
"How did I get elected super-nanny?" Rebekah complained, annoyed that Elijah ordered her around. Khalia chuckled as she took another gulp of her bottle of booze.
"More importantly, who put him in charge?" Klaus asked, his voice also coated in annoyance, before he reluctantly follows Elijah out of the house.

If there was one thing Khalia Mikaelson hated about being a vampire most of the time, it would be how fast their bodies healed. It was because of that healing factor that she was sober. After she finished her bottle of tequila, she didn't take another bottle of booze and now, an hour later, she was completely sober. But luckily she doesn't have the urge to kill like she usually has after she comes down from a high. The brunette had an idea that it has something to do with Hayley, but she would never admit that out loud.
"What are you doing?" She heard her sister ask her. Khalia turned and saw her sister standing in her door way with an amused look on her face. She stopped her actions and gave her sister a blank look.
"Jumping on my bed." She deadpanned. After sobering up, she was bored and she couldn't leave because she had to look after Hayley - not that she minded - she just didn't know what to do. "What are you doing?" The brunette retorted, jumping of her bed and landing on the carpet covered floor.
"I'm about to check on Hayley." Rebekah answered her sister and a ghost of a smile made its way onto Khalia's smile. The blonde saw this and smiled to herself knowingly.
"I'll joined you." She told her blonde sister before walking to her closet and taking out a pair of combat boots. Then she walked to her dressed and took out a pair of socks. If there was one thing that Khalia loves more than her twin, it would be her combat boots. Or any boots for that matter. She only wore the pumps that morning because she felt like it. But she quickly grew tired of them.
"Hey sweetheart." Khalia greeted as she entered the room of the pregnant girl. Hayley, who was sitting on her bed, brightened up at both the mention of her nickname that her vampire gave her and the presence of the immortal girl. She didn't even notice Rebekah until the blonde greeted her. Hayley looked down with flushed cheeks and Khalia thought she looked adorable.
"What are you guys doing here?" The werewolf asked in an attempt to change the subject. Her words was soft but the Mikaelson girl's heard it clearly.
"I can leave." The eldest girl in the room said with a shrug and Hayley's eyes widened. She didn't want the girl to leave. She like being around her.
"No!" She yelled out quickly when Khalia turned around to leave the room. "That wasn't what I meant. I was just wondering." The werewolf mumbled and the immortal brunette gave her a small smile. Getting an idea, Khalia walked to Hayley's bed and launched herself onto it, landing next to the pregnant girl. The werewolf's eyes widened but she wasn't about to complain.
"Comfy." The immortal girl said, her voice muffled, as she snuggled into the werewolf's pillows. It smelled just like Hayley. Like apples and rain. Two of her favorite things. The werewolf smiled warmly down at the vampire.
"Well, Lia, you look like you have this covered, so I going to leave now." Next to Hayley, Khalia froze and the blonde was about to leave the room when a growl stopped her. Then the eldest Mikaelson shot up and glared heatedly at her sister.
"Don't call me that." She pleaded, her voice soft and vulnerable. It was almost unbelievable to think that the voice belonged to a girl who looked ready to murder. Rebekah's eyes widened in realization before she nodded, silently promising not to, and left the room.
Hayley didn't know what to do as she stared at the girl's rigid body, so she kept quiet. Khalia didn't know what to do. It's been months since someone has called her that, but if just felt so wrong for Rebekah to say it. And not to mention the emotion that came with the familiar nickname. The hurt. The pain. It feels like someone is squeezing her heart and doesn't want to let go. She knew the feeling all to well. Khalia's grown used to it in the months since Kol died, but that doesn't mean that it hurts any less.
Eventually, the Original took a deep breath, composing herself and she lied back down next to Hayley on top of the covers - this time she laid on her back and stared at the white ceiling. Khalia knew that Hayley wanted to ask her what just happened. She could feel it. But she didn't say anything and neither did the werewolf. The silence that felt on the two was deafening. It took Hayley a few minutes to get the courage to open her mouth and ask the question, "Why don't you like being called that?"
The Mikaelson saw the question coming, yet she still didn't have an answer for the werewolf. Or she did, but she knew that the answer would lead to another line of questions. And Khalia wasn't ready to talk about him yet. She wasn't sure if she'd ever be ready. But this was Hayley. A person that wasn't a member of her family, who she could tolerate. A person that made her feel warm and fuzzy inside. The immortal girl sighed heavily as she made a decision.
Hayley heard her sigh and thought that Khalia wasn't going to answer her. But then softly, very softly, Khalia gave her an answer. "It was what my twin brother Kol used to call me. My whole family eventually started calling me that, but it was he who started it."
Downstairs, Rebekah's eyes widened as she listened to her sister's words. It was the most that she's said about their deceased brother since his death. And when someone brought him up, she would go crazy. The blonde smiled softly. She was right; Hayley would help her family in more ways than one.
In the room, Hayley saw the pain swirling in Khalia's eyes and the way her breathing got a little uneven, but the strange thing was that she never, not once, saw traces of tears in her eyes. Hayley knew that Khalia was still processing her brother's death and grieving but she didn't know to what degree. She also realized that the brunette Mikaelson didn't like to show weakness in front of others, but she got that from her ice cold bitch attitude.
Hayley vowed to herself that she will be there every step of the way. Even when she pushes her away, even when she gives up, Hayley will be there and pull her through.
"I know it probably doesn't mean anything," The werewolf started, biting down on her bottom lip. "But I'm sorry for your loss." Khalia nodded, appreciating the words. Believe it or not, the pregnant girl was the first to say that to her. Her siblings were all to scared of setting her off to say something to her. And others didn't exactly know Kol and those who did, didn't really care about Khalia's feelings. After all, she is a world class bitch. And she's hella proud of it.
The werewolf was about to say something, when suddenly she yelped in pain and instinctively grabs her neck. Khalia quickly sat up, her own pain forgotten when she saw blood on Hayley's hand that came from a small puncture wound that is already starting to heal. Having heard the werewolf's shout, Rebekah rushed in the room.
"What the hell was that?" Rebekah asked, clearly unnerved. She glanced at her sister but the vampire's eyes didn't once leave Hayley's form - concern now swirling in her brown orbs that she shared with her twin.
"Hell if I know. It felt like I was being stabbed." Hayley told the two, her tone slightly panicked.
"Sophie." Khalia growled in realization with a scowl on her face. The trio glance at each other, the immortal brunette finally tearing her gaze away from the werewolf, and they get a dawning realization that something bad is happening.
