Chapter 692
When His Eyes Opened
âWhyâs her phone off?â Avery mumbled softly to herself, then walked out of the house.
âAre you going out, Avery?â When the nanny saw her on the move, she quickly followed behind her.
âTammy said she was coming over but sheâs still not here yet. Even if thereâs traffic, she should be here
by now.â Avery walked past the front gates and looked around.
The nanny comforted her and said, âMaybe sheâs gone to buy presents! She always brings all kinds of
presents when she comes over.â
The nannyâs consoling words made Avery relax slightly.
âItâs windy out here, Avery. Letâs get back inside!â The nanny was worried that Avery would catch a
cold.
âMr. Foster especially asked me to take good care of you and not let you get sick.â
âI stay at home every day now. Iâm like a flower in a greenhouse. Iâd get sick easier that way.â
âYou still shouldnât be out here in this wind!â The nanny helped Avery back into the house.â Itâs easy to
get sick when the seasons change.â
âIs lunch ready?â Avery asked.
âIt is. How about you eat first? We donât know when Tammyâs arriving yet!â
âIâll wait for a bit more.â Avery wondered out loud, âShe doesnât usually turn her phone off.â
âMaybe it ran out of battery when she left the house.â
âItâs easy to charge your phone nowadays, though. You could find charging stations everywhere,â Avery
said.
âIâll wait for another thirty minutes. If she isnât here by then, Iâll go look for her.â
âHow are you going to find her if sheâs out? You should just rest easy and wait at home. You can call
her husband if she doesnât show up and ask him to look for her,â said the nanny.
âOtherwise, you could also ask the driver to look around.â
Avery knew that the nanny did not want to let her leave the house because of the pressure from Elliot.
The more cautiously they treat her, the more uneasy she felt.
âIâll bring you a bowl of soup. I made corn chowder today.â
The nanny went into the kitchen to get her some soup.
Avery sat down on the couch and continued calling Tammy, but she still could not get through.
She ended up texting Jun to ask what he was doing.
Jun: [Iâm at work! Iâm extra busy at the end of the year! I heard Elliotâs going on vacation soon. Tammy
will nag me again, then. Sigh.]
Avery: [Iâll leave you to it, then!]
Jun: [Is something up? Youâre not just asking for fun, are you?]
Avery: [Itâs nothing for now.]
She would contact him again if she still could not reach Tammy.
About half an hour later, a black sedan pulled up outside the front gates.
Avery heard the car and immediately walked out to take a look.
When the car doors opened, Wesley and Shea emerged.
Avery was extremely surprised to see them.
âWesley, Shea, why didnât you let me know you were coming over?â She strode over to welcome them.
âAvery! I made a cake and brought it over for you!â Shea held up a small cake and showed her.
âWesley taught me how to make it.â
âYouâre amazing, Shea. It looks even better than the ones they sell in bakeries !â Avery took over the
cake as she genuinely praised Shea.
âLet me know how it tastes.â Shea held Averyâs hand with a face filled with excitement.
â Wesley said you canât eat too much cake, so I made it smaller.â
âOkay. Iâm sure it tastes great.â
Once they entered the living room, Avery opened up the cake box, cut a small slice of cake and tasted
it.
âHow is it?â Shea asked with a face filled with anticipation.
