Chapter 530
When His Eyes Opened
Tammy shook her head and said, âNope! Wasnât there a senderâs name on the package?â
âI just glanced at it. I think it was the name of some company.â Avery then revealed the suspicious part of
the matter and said, âI asked the delivery man to leave it at the neighborhoodâs delivery counter or hand
it over to the nanny, but he insisted on me signing for it personally.â
âMaybe itâs something expensive. You usually have to sign for something like that.â Tammy flashed a
mysterious grin and said, âCould it be something from Elliot? Arenât the two of you in the middle of a
passionate relationship?â
Avery responded without hesitation, âIt probably isnât him. Heâs never used a courier service to send me
gifts. Even if itâs from abroad, heâd send it to his place and check it before giving it to me.â
âTsk! Hearing you say all this is making me fall in love with him all over again. After all, he once was my
dream man!â Tammy picked up her teaspoon and stirred her coffee, then said,â Have you completely
gotten over things, Avery?â
Averyâs behavior today was like a young girl deep ine8 love.
Avery knew she could not hide it, so she nodded and said, âIâm letting bygones be bygones!â
âI respect your decision. Who could go through life without making some mistakes?â Tammy was happy
for her friend. âI feel like youâve turned into a different person after reconciling with him. Of course, heâs
changed as well. Since youâre so happy together, then just stay together from now on! That way, your
three children would finally have a complete home. How great is that?â
Avery lowered her gaze and said, âIâm not certain about the future, but Iâll definitely cherish our time
together more than I did before. Weâre not children anymore. Our kids are all grown up, too.â
She had given it a lot of thought.
At this point, marriage was not important to her and Elliot.
What they needed was the trust between family members, and not a marriage license.
At five in the evening, the nanny took Layla home from school.
While changing into her house slippers, Laylaâs eyes landed on the package on the shoe rack.
âWhose package is this? Whatâs inside?â she asked.
âItâs your motherâs,â answered the nanny:
âOh⦠I want to open itâ¦â
Layla thought that whatever belonged to her mother was hers, too.
The nanny felt uneasy, then said, âYour mother will be home soon. Letâs wait for her to come back and
open it up, okay? Or we could wait for your brother to come home and see what he thinks.â
Layla thought of how Hayden would be home soon, then nodded her head.
About ten minutes later, the bodyguard returned home with Hayden.
âHayden! The nanny made me some really yummy pancakes today!â
Layla was holding a fluffy pancake in her hand, and was so happy that she utterly forgot what happened
ten minutes ago.
As Hayden changed into his house slipper, he glanced at the package on the shoe rack
Avery rarely shops online, so they donât usually receive packages.
âHayden! Thatâs Mommyâs package. I want to see whatâs inside! Letâs open it together!â
With her brotherâs company, Layla was not afraid even if they got in trouble.â
âItâs Mommyâs. We canât open it,â Hayden said.
âMommyâs stuff is our stuff⦠Our stuff is Mommyâs, too!â Layla pouted, then said, âI really want to see
whatâs inside!â
Hayden was worried that his sister would touch the package, so he dragged her into the living room.
âWe can only open it with Mommyâs permission,â he said.
â⦠I can open up whatever I want in the house.â Layla shook off her brotherâs grip unhappily, then said,
âMommy wonât be angry at me!â
Layla rarely went against Hayden like this.
âGo and open it, then,â Hayden said coldly. âI wonât be your brother after that.â
Layla was speechless.
When Avery got home, she felt a weird atmosphere in the house.
The children did not run up to greet her like they usually did.
âLayla!â she called out as she changed into her house slippers. âHayden! Mommyâs home!â
Layla and Hayden walked over from two different directions.
âMommy, I fought with Hayden.â Layla ran up to her mother with reddened eyes and said, â He said he
wonât be my brother anymore.â
Hearing this, Avery turned to Hayden and asked, âWhatâs wrong Hayden? Did your sister upset you?â
Hayden pursed his thin lips and said nothing.
Layla impatiently dragged Avery to the shoe rack and said, âI wanted to open your package, Mommy, but
Hayden wouldnât let me⦠Mommy, you wouldnât be mad at me if Iâd opened it, right?â
