Chapter 528
When His Eyes Opened
Half an hour later, the vice president of Sterling Group burst into Benâs office.
âIâve looked everywhere for you, Chad. I knew youâd be here!â
The vice president slumped down next to Chad.
Noticing the vice president dripping in sweat, Chad asked, âWhat happened? Youâre making me think the
companyâs in some kind of35 trouble.â
The vice president poured himself a glass of water, then said, âDid the two of you know that Avery Tate
was here? Why didnât you tell me?â He drank the entire glass of water in one gulp.
â Let me tell me, when I went to Mr. Fosterâs office just now⦠Ah! Just the thought of it makes me want
to bury myself in a hole! What the hell was that? I have a feeling Iâm about to get fired.â
Ben and Chad were shocked.
âDonât tell me they wereâ¦â Ben began to say, but did not finish the rest of his sentence.
The vice president nodded furiously and said, âThe worst thing about it was that I wasnât the only one
who saw it. I was with a whole team of people⦠All of them saw it, too⦠Honestly, I might as well just
pack up my things and leaveâ¦â
He buried his face in his hands in agony.
Everyone knew that the president of Sterling Group, Elliot Foster kept his distance from women.
He had never brought a woman to the company before, let alone do anything with a woman in his own
office.
However, everything changed today!
Never in his dreams did the vice president think that he would walk into something like this.
Elliot cared very much about his privacy, and was probably pondering on how to make him disappear into
thin air.
Ben and Chad gazed at the vice president with sympathetic eyes. They wanted to share their opinions,
but ended up unintentionally bursting into laughter instead.
âStop laughing! Iâm devastated right now! You shouldnât kick a man while heâs down!â The vice president
said dejectedly as he checked his phone to see if he had received any new calls or messages.
He had a feeling that Elliot was not going to go easy on him.
âDonât be so pessimistic. I think youâll be fine.â Ben took a sip of water to calm himself down.â If I were
you, Iâd go back to his office half an hour later and congratulate him.â
âMr. Foster wonât be mad,â Chad said. âHeâs in a good mood today. Even if you made a big mistake, he
might be able to forgive you.â
âAre you sure?â mumbled the vice president. âWhen he noticed that Iâd walked in earlier, his expression
was really stern! He was furious!â
âAhem⦠At the time⦠What were they doing?â
âLet me think⦠When I walked in, all I saw was something white⦠Oh, I think that was Miss Tateâs
backâ¦â The vice president tried his best to recall what he saw, then took a sharp breath and said, âMiss
Tate was on topâ¦â
Ben looked like he had choked on something.
âI canât help you there.â He shook his head, then said, âI honestly didnât expect that that was what you
saw.â
Chad was also mortified. He could barely wrap his head around things.
âSince neither of you can help me, then Iâll just go and face my doom!â
The vice president stood up in misery and planned to go and beg Elliot for forgiveness.
âHey! You should go later! What if theyâre not done yet?â Ben said as he held him back
âHuh?â The vice president looked perplexed as he said, âHow could they continue after I walked in on
them? No way. Miss Tate actually screamed!â
Ben released his grip on him.
It was over!
âI suggest you beg for forgiveness from Avery Tate,â he said.
âThatâs right,â Chad agreed. âAs long as she forgives you, Mr. Foster would, too.â âOkay! Iâll go find Miss
Tate right now!â
The vice president clenched his fists and walked out of the room.
The doors to the presidentâs office were wide open.
The vice president pretended to walk by and âaccidentallyâ peeped into the room.
All he saw was Elliot working away behind his desk with a serious expression on his face.
There was no trace of Avery in the office.
