Chapter 8
Countdown 15 Departing From the Alpha (Evelyn)
Chapter 08 Daisyâs photography team approached us, and the lead photographer called out cheerfully, âYou must be the couple who booked the session! Weâre ready to start!â
âLetâs go!â Daisy grabbed Laucasâs arm without hesitation, dragging him toward the team.
Lucas hesitated but looked back at me apologetically. âJust for a little while, Evelyn. Iâll be back soon.â
Daisy gave me a sweet, innocent smile. âEvelyn, Iâm just borrowing your fiancé for a bit. You donât mind, do you?â
Without waiting for my answer, the two of them were led away.
I stood frozen as they posed for picture after picture.. Daisy making heart shapes with her hands, brushing Lucasâs hair, and even kissing his cheek.
She looked absolutely thrilled.
The photographer seemed delighted. âGreat chemistry! Now, give us a kiss!â
Lucas froze, glancing nervously in my direction, but Daisy puckered her lips playfully, urging him. closer.
Onlookers began to cheer.
âKiss! Kiss!â
Trapped under everyoneâs expectant eyes, Lucas leaned in and kissed her.
The crowd applauded, the camera flashes flickered, and my heart shattered.
Each second of their embrace felt like a knife slicing through meâdeeper, sharper.
I pressed my hand to my chest, trying to steady my breath and push back the ache.
No tears. Not this time.
wasnât the fragile girl who once poured her sorrows into the waves.
I was stronger now..
Memories of the past five years flickered in my mind as I made a silent decision.. to leave this love Chapter ne behind.
Just then, my phone buzzed. It was a message from my mother.
âEvelyn, everything is set up for you in Silver Moon. We bought you a house with a garden and a view of the harbor.. youâll love it. Your brothers also gifted you a yacht. From now on, weâll make up for every moment we werenât there for you.â
Tears blurred my vision.
I typed back quickly. âThank you, Mom and Dad. And my brothers too.â
See? The world still had people who loved me.
No more tears for someone who didnât deserve them.
Mom sent more photosâof the house, the yacht, and the private jet Iâd be taking home.
âWeâll be waiting for you at the airport tomorrow.â
I smiled, clutching my phone. âIâll be there.â
Fireworks exploded above the beach, lighting up the sky.. and my tearâstreaked face.
t âMiss Evelyn?â
My photographer approached hesitantly. âShould we continue?â
I wiped my eyes and beamed. âOf course! Letâs keep going.
Under the fireworks and by the endless sea, I captured the best version of myself.
Later that evening, I reached the parking lot to find Lucas leaning against his car, smoking.
He looked irritated. âWhere were you? I waited forever! You didnât answer my calls or mindâlink messages.â
4 met his eyes calmly. âIâve waited like that for you countless times, and I never complained.â
Opening the back door, I climbed into the car without another word.
Lucas hesitated. âYou can sit in the front. Daisy isnât coming with us.â
hapter 68 Iâm fine back here,â I said, closing the door.
Anxiously, he explained. âEvelyn, the kiss earlier, it was just for the photos. Donât take it the wrong way.â
His words felt more like an excuse than an apology.
He continued. âIâm an Alpha. Sometimes, I have to put on an act in business and social events. If you get upset every time, itâll be exhausting...â
âI get it. Just drive.â
I cut him off, my voice flat.
The cold from the beach still clung to me, and all I wanted was to go home.
Lucas hesitated but finally started the car.
Then his phone lit up na message:
âLucas, do you think Evelynâs still mad? I mean, she disappeared after our kiss... What if sheâs really upset?â
Lucas smirked and typed back confidently:
**âDonât worry. Sheâs crazy about me. Sheâll get over it. Iâll make sure she learns to accept you in time.â
