The Boneyard. The one place in OBX that brought together all the pieces of the island. You had the Pogues; the working class, the poor. The ones that lived on The Cut making a living off minimum wage jobs or illegal activities. Obviously, the ragtag group of teenagers bore the name Pogue. And with pride. Then there were the Kooks; the Pogue's arch enemy. The rich, prestigious bunch of the island. Figure Eight housed their expensive cars and private school kids that would be raised with mansions on every coast. Lastly, were the Tourons. That's what the tourists were called. Families that had no idea what the area actually offered. Seeing as most Pogues and Kooks would rather die than touch, the inhabitants of the island often went after the willing tourists to satiate their teenage horomones. This included the group of Pogues that didn't have many options with the addition of a strict 'No Pogue on Pogue Macking' rule within their friend group.

Now, this didn't always mean that everyone got along at The Boneyard. The little spot on the beach had seen its fair shair of fighting and verbal confrontations. Sometimes CJ wished everyone would just get along but others she reveled in the fighting. The Kooks were pigheaded assholes and she enjoyed punching them in the face almost as much as her brother did. For the most part, the Tourons were really the only thing keeping the arguments at bay. As long as everyone kept their focus on getting some and mingling, things were usually fine. Until someone lost their focus. Like right now.

"Back off, Topper."

"Yo, buddy, what seems to be the problem?" JJ walked up, head cocked in the Kook's direction. The boy had left to get beer for his sister and John B, coming back to the three in some sort of confrontation.

"No problem, JJ."

"Oh, I don' know about that." He said, looking between his family members tense expressions as he passed them red solo cups. "Looks like a problem. Looks like you're in my sister's face."

Topper snickered, a smirk on his face as the last two Pogues noticed the commotion. Smiles wiped off their faces, they stood from their places on driftwood and hurried over to the group. "Yeah, you always let your sister run around dressed like that?"

"Oh, you mean like half the island?" JJ questioned sarcastically, a cheeky smile on his face as he gestured around at the group of people. "She can make her own decisions."

"Can she, though?" Topper questioned snarkily, getting closer to JJ. "I mean, do you two even have any brain cells?"

Sick and tired of the rich boy's shit, CJ shoved him back. He stumbled, face full of mockery as his beer spilled. "Go the fuck back to your girlfriend, Topper."

"What? You don't want to tell your brother the "issue" we were having?"

"Topper."

"Oh, come on, you're practically asking for it. Don't tell me you didn't notice your outfit. I mean, I burned my clothes from that night, but you just don't have that kind of money do you?" Topper's eyes were narrowed, head cocked as he leered closer. John B had partially stepped in front of the girl, looking warily around at the people gathering. "Or maybe, you just kept it to remember me by. What'd you think would happen? I'd see you like that and leave my super hot, rich girlfriend to fuck you again? I'm not that drunk."

Time stood still after the last words fell from Topper's lips. For CJ, it felt like years but was only seconds. Every person there, including the three people she never wanted to know, turned to stare at her. The only one that didn't was the only other person that knew. The person that jumped straight for the Kook, fist slamming into his face when he processed what he'd said.

From there, it was chaos. People jumped out of the way, some leaving entirely and some screaming. Others picked up a chant of 'fight' with fire dancing in their eyes. Pope tried desperately to pull John B back, but the boy just shoved him off.

Attention pulled from the problem, John B couldn't block the harsh hit to his face. As he fell to the sand below him, CJ helped Pope up, the boy looking up at her with wide eyes. She looked away shamefully. Kie was pushing JJ back, trying to keep the problem from escalating any farther.

As John B tried to get up, Topper kicked him into the water. "Hey, John B! Don't make me drown you like your old man, alright?"

The Kook's words made something snap inside CJ. Standing up, Topper got another kick in before the girl was on his back; a knife pressed to his throat. He threw her off his back, CJ landing harshly next to John B. She groaned in pain, her back still a bit bruised from earlier, before scrambling to her feet. Her knife had sliced a thin line into Topper's neck and was still clutched in her hand.

People were going nuts, the screams of 'fight' getting louder, paired with other cheers and shouts. JJ was now being held back by Pope while Kie fielded the front of him. He was screaming at Topper, threatening him violently. All of that was white noise for the three in the water though, angry focus completely on each other.

John B had gotten to his feet, CJ's attack aiding in his recovery, and launched himself at the blonde. Tumbling into the ocean, they began grappling, punching each other in the torso. Sarah Cameron, Topper's girlfriend and the Kook princess, had finally pushed through the crowd and was yelling at her boyfriend to stop. Just like everyone else, her words fell on deaf ears.

Putting her knife away, CJ raised her hands, getting ready to fight in any way she was needed. Her eyes were watchful and waiting as the boys got back on land, swinging each other around. Topper managed to get out of the hold and threw John B away from him.

With John B thrown to the side, CJ stepped forward. Topper cocked his head at her, shaking his head in denial of her fighting ability and she simply cocked an eyebrow. Smirking, a glint shined in her eyes and she didn't wait for the Kook to make the first move. Surging forward, her fist slammed into his face. With a speed either boy could only wish for, she followed the hit with a kick to his ribs and a kick to his chest. The boy stumbled back, shock covering his features before the cockiness smothered it. Stepping forward, he didn't let the fact that she was a girl stop him from punching her in the stomach. When she keeled over slightly, he went to slam an elbow into her back but was stopped by the inability to breath. CJ's palm slamming into his diaphragm gave the girl a chance to back up and right herself.

At this point, JJ had mostly calmed down and was cheering on the Pogues with Pope while Kie looked on in worry. She hated all the fighting. They were gonna get seriously hurt, again, and she didn't know what to do about it.

With CJ out for the moment, John B took up the helm. "Come on!" He screamed at Topper, waving him closer.

"This ain't a fair fight!"

"Yeah, well that's your specialty!"

Toppers fist swung, slamming into the left side of John B's face. The boy almost went down, but righted himself as Kie yelled at them to stop. The shakiness of her voice caught CJ's attention and she turned to look at her. Her eyes softened only slightly as she sent her a look of reassurance and turned back to the fight.

The next hit Topper threw didn't land; John B dodging to the side. With better luck, Johnny's slammed into the right side of Topper's ribcage. A light punch met Topper's stomach before the two started grappling again. John B grabbed onto the older boy, twisting and throwing him into the ocean.

"Come on, Topper!" John B screamed ragedly. "Let's go!"

Topper made it back to his feet, the two exchanging a few more blows. John B was pushed back for a second when Topper's open palm hit his chin, but quickly came back to the fight. He ran at the Kook, being flipped and slammed into the ocean floor. That was where Topper held John B's face down, drowning the boy in the shallow waters.

CJ's eyes widened, her blood burning as she jumped on Topper's back again. This time she wrapped her arm around his neck, choking him out. "Topper, get off of him!"

In response, Topper threw his head backward, colliding with CJ's face. The girl was sent back, hand pressed to her nose as he threw her off of him. She quickly wiped the still flowing blood off her face with the water before spinning around. It was in the moment that she was about to throw her knife into the boy that JJ stepped forward, a gun pressed to Topper's head.

"Yeah, you know what that is. Your move, broski."

Pulling out her knife, CJ flipped it open and stepped closer to the three. Crouched down, she glance down at John B who had been released from the salt water. The boy was coughing out water but was fine. On the beach, everyone was scattering, yelling about a gun while Pope and Sarah screamed at JJ to back off. CJ kind of thought he should do it.

"Put the gun down!"

"Did you say somethin', princess?" JJ snapped rhetorically. "Cus your knight in shining plastic, he just tried to drown my boy. And I think you said to put the gun down and I'm just thinkin' to myself, why the fuck would I do that?"

"We're good, we're good. Come on, man."

JJ kept the gun pressed to Topper's head until he let go of John B, rolling over into the water.

"Kie, can you check your psycho friend, please?" Kie wouldn't do that, but she would and did hold CJ back when she tried to go after the Kook. Not only because Sarah even tried to talk to Kiara like they were still friends, but because the girl implied her brother was the crazy one. It was her boyfriend that started drowning someone.

"Okay, everyone listen up!" JJ screamed, his throat sure to be rubbed raw in the morning. "Get the hell off our side of the island!" Raising the gun he held in the air, he popped off a few shots as people ran away. CJ was sure that would come around to bite them in the ass, but in the moment she didn't really care.

Kie kept her held back as the couple passed them. She tried to wriggle out of her arms as Sarah stared at her indignantly, but couldn't get lose. Pope was on JJ, pushing him back and telling him that was stupid. JJ just put the safety back on the gun and tossed it back in his bag.

CJ was the one that noticed John B fall back. She wasn't sure if it was due to exhaustion or lack of oxygen, so she got Kie to release her and ran forward. Finding that he was in fact under the water and unconscious, she dropped to her knees and lifted the boy onto her thighs. Keeping him above water, Kie and Pope berated JJ while CJ lightly slapped John B's face. The boy came to after a few minutes, surging forward as he inhaled deeply. CJ held him up, rubbing his back lightly. He turned to look at her, expression full of emotion that she couldn't quite read. Of what she could, she saw malice, appreciation, and deep pain.

Pulling him into her arms, CJ held him from their place in the water. Tiny waves splashed onto their lower extremities as John B's arms encircled her waist. Head tucked into her chest, he released a deep breath. "I'm sorry."

"Not your fault." She told him, one hand rubbing his back while the other was pressed to his head.

"I should've just pushed him before he said anything."

"You know that would've just riled him up. They were bound to find out, eventually. And besides..even if it was your fault, I think you redeemed yourself."

John B scoffed lightly, his head raising to look her in the eyes. A small smirk rested on his lips. "I didn't even win. And you fought half the fight."

"Twenty-five percent." She teased, smile beginning to curl the sides of her mouth. "And I don' know, I think we won. JJ scared the shit out of him. Probably literally. We're all in this together. Maybe you didn't land the final punch, but JJ sure as hell did."

John B's little smirk turned into a sweet smile. Not two minutes after they got their shit rocked and she was already trying to lighten the mood. Trying to make him feel better despite knowing the consequences she would face after tonight. She always put everyone else first, especially him. She was special.

On the beach, the Pogues were wandering around, overwhelmed. JJ was walking over to the two in the water when Kie spoke up."So, are we gonna talk about this? The fact that they hooked up? I mean, with him?"

Any smile beginning to form on CJ's face fell with those words. In the split second before she looked at Kie, John B saw the fear and almost tears in her eyes. She was terrified.

"What about it?" She asked, trying to stay casual about the whole ordeal.

"'What about it?'" Kie asked incredulously. "I don't know, everything. I just- I don't get it. Were you ever gonna tell us? What else don't we know?"

"That's it." John B said, shaking his head as he looked between his friends.

"You knew?"  Pope questioned, tone raising as he stepped forward. His face was full of disbelief and betrayal. "And you didn't tell us?"

"What makes you think it was my story to tell?"

The boy huffed at the response, shaking his head as he backed up. "Whatever. Tonight has been way too much, I'm goin' home."

"Yeah, me too." Kie said, grabbing her stuff as she went to follow after Pope. She spared one last glance at the three left as she slung her backpack over her shoulder. "We are gonna talk about this later."

The statement was directed towards CJ and the girl nodded her head, looking down at the ocean floor in humiliation. Despite Kie making it known she wanted to talk about it, CJ could see the disappointment in their eyes. The betrayal. She couldn't even bear to look up at her brother.

Everything was silent for a few moments; the sound of the ocean the only noise other than footsteps on the sand. When the steps faded away and CJ was sure she wouldn't cry, she looked up. She forced herself to look at her brother who helped the two to their feet. Without a word, he pulled her into his arms. Squeezing her tightly, CJ was confused, her brows furrowing before her arms wrapped around his neck. On her tip toes, her body slowly relaxed until her head was tucked into her brother's shoulder. The boy didn't say anything for a while and when he did, CJ almost cried.

"Dude's a dick. I hope you didn't suck it."

Sputtering, laughter bubbled from CJ's lips and it made a smile form on JJ's face. His baby sister could never do anything to make his viewpoint of her change. She was his better half and he'd do anything to make her smile. JJ especially couldn't judge her for her escapades. He was no stranger to sexual endeavors; humiliative or otherwise.

"JJ, oh my God, dude." John B chuckled, sitting down on the beach with his hands covering his face. "That's fuckin' gross."

"What?" He questioned, merriment coating his voice. As CJ pulled away from their hug, he raised his arms to his sides. "It is a valid concern."

"I love you, you dumbass."

Arms dropping and eyes softening, he smiled at his sister. "I love you too, shithead."

Flopping down on the beach, JJ turned to face John B. A crooked smile formed on his face. "So, how'd that feel? Punchin' him in the face?"

"I've done it before."

"Yeah, but c'mon. That was in seventh grade. Had to be more satisfying this time."

While the two bantered back and forth, CJ went and grabbed the almost empty keg. Scooping up the bag of cups, she dragged the thing over before falling in between the two with the hose in her hand. Filling three cups, she handed them out and the three clinked the plastic together.

"To the pogies!" JJ toasted, raising his beer in the air.

"To the pogies!"

And that's where they stayed, finishing off the last of the keg before passing out on the beach.
