Chapter 12

09: Night School

Her Wolf [Teen Wolf]

"Well, hello there, Princess."

Ariel smiles coyly, "Fancy seeing you here, trouble,"  she says as she grabs Sky's hand, kissing her cheek before she pulls her up the stairs to her bedroom.

With this being the first time Sky had been in Ariel's room, she lets herself look around as Ariel shuts the door behind them.

"Cute," she comments.

"You are," quips Ariel, pulling her over to sit on her bed. "So tell me, what's been going on?"

Sky slips their fingers together as she hums in thought, "I don't know how Scott gets himself involved in all this crap, but he found out we're stronger in packs. Derek wants me to stay away from you and Scott from Allison," She rolls her eyes. "He said you make us weak, but he was wrong."

"How so?"

Sky plays with her fingers, "Uh - remember the first time I shifted?"

"That's kinda burned into my memory forever, Sky."

Sky grimaces, "Yeah. Well, you helped stop me from acting on my murderous thoughts when I turned," she tells her.

Ariel raises her brows, "Okay."

Sky nods, "Yeah, and at the lacrosse game, you helped me calm down again."

The memory makes Ariels lips curve upwards, "I seem to not be able to recall that. Could you remind me?" she asks, innocently.

Sky rolls her eyes, but leans forward and plants a slow kiss on her lips. She pulls back after a moment and points a warning finger at her girlfriend, "Stop distracting me," she says as Ariel grins.

Sky continues, "In class, you might not have realised, but you helped me from possibly wolfing out when Coach was embarrassing Scott," she tells her.

Sky takes a breath, "While I'm not sure why Stiles said you keep me grounded. Like an anchor. Because of what you mean to me."

Ariel bites her lip, "You mean a lot to me too, Sky," she admits.

Sky lets out an exaggerated breath of relief as flops down onto the bed, "Well, that's a relief. And here I thought you were using me for my good looks and intelligence."

Ariel snorts, crawling over and dropping herself down on top of the girl, making her grunt. She smirks, "If anything, it's the other way round."

Sky pauses, "Yeah, that's right actually."

"Hey -" Ariel leans down and nips at her neck. "I know you're secretly soft for me, McCall," she points out.

Sky squirms, "Shut up," she mutters. She rolls them over so she can lie on top of her. "Let me use you for your warmth."

"You're so romantic."

"There's no point trying to make you swoon if you're already lying down."

Ariel leans closer, "Well, you could at least kiss me whilst your using me."

Sky bites her lip in fake contemplation, "I guess I could," she relents as she leans forward, kissing her slowly and deeply.

Ariel can't contain her giggles as she pulls her hands from under Sky's shirt.

"Your eyes are glowing," she whispers with a grin.

Sky drops her head onto her chest and sighs, "This is your fault."

The buzzing of her phone makes Sky lift her head up again and Ariel smiles, "There are those beautiful brown eyes," she says quietly.

Sky rolls her eyes with an embarassed smile as she moves over and grabs her phone, seeing a text from an unknown number.

'Got a new phone. Meet me at the school. It's an emergency. - Scott'

"Damn," Sky mumbles. "Scott needs me at the school for some reason. I gotta go."

Ariel raises her brows, hopping up and standing, adjusting her skirt. "I'll drive you," she offers.

Sky looks at her, "You sure?"

Ariel narrows her eyes, "I don't want you going out alone at this time."

Sky shrugs, taking her hand as they leave.

***

"This is creepy," Ariel mumbles as they pull up to the school.

"Yeah. If you see a guy with a chainsaw, run in the opposite direction."

They look around. "See him?" wonders Ariel.

Sky sighs, "No," she looks over to her.  "I'm gonna go inside and look for him. You can go home if you want."

"What? No, I'll -- Wait, is that Jackson's car?" Ariel points at a silver Porsche by the entrance.

Sky frowns, "Yeah, let's go. He's probably inside."

They step slowly into the reception, only to be greeted by darkness and an eery silence.

Ariel shivers, "I don't like it here, let's leave. The door's aren't even supposed to be open," she says, grabbing Sky's arm.

Sky closes her eyes and focuses on her hearing. People were coming. She pulls Ariel behind her and they jump as Scott, Stiles and Allison stumble into view.

"Jesus, Scotty, I'm gonna kick your ass," exclaims Sky as her heart calms down.

Scott looks between them, "What? Why did you come? What are you doing here?" he asks.

"You asked me to, idiot," says Sky and Allison nods. "Me too."

Scott frowns, "I asked you to?" he repeats.

Sky just sighs and shows him the message he sent, but he just looks more confused, making her realise something.

"You didn't send it, did you?" she looks to the ceiling and curses when he shakes his head.

"Did you guys drive here?" asks Stiles.

"I did," says Ariel.

"Jackson did," Allison tells them, making them stare at her with wide eyes.

"Jackson's here, too?" asks Scott.

Sky presses a hand to her face, "Could this get any worse?"

"And Lydia," adds Allison. "What's going on? Who sent this text?"

"Finally!" They all jump when a fed-up Lydia walks towards them, Jackson reluctantly following behind. "Can we go now?" she asks.

Ariel sighs in relief at seeing her sister and moves to her side, grabbing her arm.

A noise makes them all quiet and glances wearily down the hall. Suddenly, they startle when the ceiling caves in next to them, the Alpha crashing into the hallway with a loud roar.

"Run!" shouts Scott, making them all take off in the other direction and run through a set of doors, shutting them quickly behind them and working on blocking them shut as fast as possible.

Unfortunately, whilst arguing among themselves and stacking furniture in front of the doors, nobody but Stiles notices the wall of windows.

Knowing he was one of the smartest people in the room, Sky shouts to get everyone's attention when he fails to. "Guys! Listen!"

Once everyone stops and looks to them, Stiles claps, "Okay, nice work. Really beautiful job, everyone. Now, what should we do about the 20 foot wall of windows?" he exclaims, Sky cringing as the others panic.

Allison takes a deep breath, "Can somebody please explain to me what's going on, because I'm freaking out here. And I would like to know why. Scott?" she looks to her boyfriend. Ariel inches toward Sky and squeezes her hand.

"Someone killed the janitor," Scott reveals.

Sky gapes, that being news to her, "Seriously?"

"Yeah, the janitor's dead," confirms Stiles, nodding to her.

Allison can't wrap her head around it, "What's he talking about? Is this a joke?" she looks between them.

"What? Who killed him?" asks Jackson.

"No, no, no, no," panics Lydia. "This was supposed to be over. The mountain lion killed --"

"No. Don't you get it?" Jackson interrupts. "There wasn't a mountain lion."

Allison fires question after question at Scott, "Who was it? What does he want? What's happening? Scott!" she cries.

Sky watches as her brother stutters, not knowing what to say, "I - I don't know. I - I just - If - if we go out there, he's gonna kill us," he tells them.

"Us? He's gonna kill us?"

"Who? Who is it?" questions Allison.

Scott hesitates before blurting out, "Derek. Derek Hale."

Stiles, Sky and Ariel all look at him with wide eyes.

"Are you sure?" checks Allison.

He nods, "I saw him."

"The mountain li-"

"No, Derek killed them." Scott interrupts.

As he continues to tell them all the crimes he was 'responsible' for, Sky looks at Ariel and squeezes her hand.

"You okay?" she whispers.

Ariel glances at her, "I will be if we get out of this with all our limbs in tact."

Sky nods, "Fair point."

Jackson turns to Stiles, "Your dad is armed with an entire sheriff's department. Call him," he orders as the tension in the room rises. Stiles didn't want his dad to come and get hurt.

"I'm calling," announces Lydia as she holds her phone up to her ear. A moment later, she pulls it away with a dumbfounded look. "They hung up on me. She said they got a tip warning them that there are gonna be prank calls about a break-in at the high school. She said if I called again that they're gonna trace it and have me arrested," she tells them.

"Okay, then call," Allison suggests.

Stiles shakes his head, "No, they won't trace a cell and they'll send a car to your house before they send anyone here."

Allison breathes out shakily, "What the -- what is this? Why does Derek wanna kill us? Why is he killing anyone?" she looks to Scott for answers and the others follow suit.

Scott backs away at the stares, "Why is everyone looking at me?"

"Is he the one that sent her the text?" asks Lydia

The questions just kept coming and Scott could do nothing but look lost, "No. I mean, I don't know," he struggles.

"Is he the one that called the police?" asks Allison.

Scott snaps, shouting, "I don't know!"

It was then that Sky steps in front of him with a hand on his arm in a comforting manner as she narrows her eyes at the others, minus Ariel, "Stop with all these questions, alright? He doesn't have all the answers! He's as scared as you are! Do it again and I'll throw you out the god damn window!" she almost growls out.

"All right, why don't we ease back on the throttle here, yeah?" says Stiles, trying to ease the tension. He pulls Sky back slightly, knowing she would probably go through with her threat if pushed far enough.

Ariel and Sky stay close to Scott and Stiles as they speak quietly, "Okay, first off, throwing Derek under the bus, nicely done," says Stiles. "Second, Sky please stop threatening people."

Sky rolls her eyes.

Scott sighs, "I didn't know what to say. I had to say something. And if he's dead then it doesn't matter, right? Except if he's not. Oh, god, I totally just bit her head off,"  he rambles.

Sky glares at him, "And she'll get over it," she deadpans, crossing her arms.

"Yes. Bigger issues at hand here, like how do we get out alive?" questions Stiles.

Scotts forehead creases in worry, "But we are alive. It could've killed us already. It's like it's cornering us or something," he tells them.

"So what, he wants to eat us all at the same time?" asks Stiles.

Scott shakes his head at the idea, "No! Derek said it wants revenge."

"Revenge against who?" wonders Ariel.

"Allison's family?" Scott guesses.

Stiles shrugs, "Maybe that's what the text was about. Someone had to send it."

"No, I got a text too," states Sky.

Scott looks at her, "Yeah, but he wants you too, just like he wants me," he says.

Jackson coming over and demanding they call Stiles's father ends their quiet discussion. Stiles immediately objects to the notion, causing Jackson to try and grab his phone.

Jackson's head whips back as Stiles punches him in the face.

Sky's eyes widen in surprise, "Holy --" She watches as Stiles brings his phone up to his ear and calls his dad himself, only for the sound of his voicemail to come through.

There's a bang on the door.

"Oh my God," mutters Lydia as they all back up.

"Great," breathes Sky as she pulls her girlfriend closer. She looks behind her to a staircase and leads her back. "C'mon. I refuse to let us die in school," she says as they all rush up the stairs, trying to get as far away from the Alpha as they can.
