Chapter 7: Spring Break

Locked Out of Spring Break (REWRITING)

Chapter 7 :)

—————————————————

"Never," I answer, "You're never going to see me half naked."

"Never say never," he responds, "It just might happen. You may even see me half naked."

I groan, "Isn't it mighty funny that you spread the rumor of me being gay, which turned out to be a fact, and you announced how we're boyfriends?"

"But, people will just think you turned me gay," Jake points out, "which will make a lot of girls hate you."

I laugh, "Why would a lot of girls hate me?"

"A lot has asked me out to Prom," he brags, "Some even asked me out."

"Even after you marked your territory on me?" I unconsciously blurt.

He nods, smirking.

"Good to know," I mutter.

Jake wraps his arm around my shoulder. "I hope you don't forget about your brownie points for your class."

"I hope you do, Mr. A+'s."

When I enter my home, I instantly spot numerous luggage by the door.

I chuckle to myself, joining my father on the couch.

"How was school, Rico?" he asks, keeping his attention on the television screen.

"It was okay," I lie, fiddling with my fingers. "What's up with the early packing?" I change the topic abruptly.

"Your mom," he answers, laughing to himself, "She's overdoing it as she always is with everything."

"Is it a crime to be excited that we're going on a trip?" she snaps, throwing Dad off guard, "We never go anywhere." He tosses more luggage by the pile.

He responds, "It is if you're packing two days early."

"Who said it was two days early? We're leaving tomorrow morning."

"Tomorrow morning?"

"Yes," she replies, nonchalantly, "We're leaving by 6 AM."

He snorts, "We already had a plan of leaving in two days, so we'd have time for preparation."

She argues, "We had plenty of preparation time."

"One day."

"So? One day is more than enough!"

"I haven't even packed yet."

"I packed for you," she responds, folding her arms across her chest. "I want to leave tomorrow morning."

Dad frowns. "Well, I would like to leave in two days, so that I have time to prepare things for myself."

"I already prepared things for you!" She stomped off upstairs.

Dad looks at me. "You're so lucky."

"How so?"

"You don't have to deal with women," he remarks, looking after where Mom just was.

I chuckle, "I'm lucky that you dealt with her, because I wouldn't be here."

He nods in agreement. "She can be loca at times." He whirls his finger around his head in a circular motion.

"You better go see what she packed for you," I warn, "She might have packed something weird more than likely."

"Good call."

When I awaken to the sound of my alarm clock, I take a shower and dress myself. I knock on my parent's bedroom door, which creaks open. I find an empty bed and a note taped to the other side of the door.

Sorry, we left this morning. Didn't want to wake you, because you were sleeping so peacefully. We'll be back after Spring Break. We trust that you'll keep the house spic and span. Love you, hijo.

-Mom

I roll my eyes, laughing to myself. Of course she won that battle between dad. Nevertheless, I fix myself a couple pieces of toast and eat an orange. Next, I look for my car keys, with thirty minutes to spare.

To my dismay, my keys can't be found anywhere. I even checked my all of my drawers, under my bed, in my closet. The only thing that I found was a note taped on my nightstand.

I'm really sorry we didn't say goodbye. But, she won against me. She pulled the abstinent card on me and threatened to go by herself if I didn't wake up. Women are nuts. Anyways, I love you Rico. PLEASE RIP THIS AND BURN IT AFTER YOU RECEIVE IT.

-Dad

I repulse at the thought of my parents... doing it, but laugh at the image of Mom threatening no sex and Dad submitting. I continue looking for my keys but am still unlucky in finding them.

Out of nowhere, I hear a horn honking from outside. I look out of my window, to see Luci's vehicle in the driveway.

I go downstairs, exit the house, and approach her car. She rolls down the window.

"What are you doing here?" I ask.

"Get in," she remarks, "I'll give you a ride."

"How'd you know I needed a ride?"

"Best friend instincts," she answers, "I just had a feeling. Plus, you always lose your keys."

"True," I respond, opening the passenger's door. I always lose my car keys no matter what, however, I always eventually find them, but wasn't lucky this time, which is bizarre.

"Not enough room," she states, motioning her head to the backseats. I notice that the seat is entirely empty but I don't argue.

Luci pulls out of the driveway. "So, where's your parents at?"

"They left," I answer. I see her smiling in the rear view mirror. "Why are you smiling?"

"Because I'm happy for them," she responds.

My attention falls when my eyes meet a familiar looking house before me. "Luci... why are we here?"

"What? I told him I'd give him a ride."

Jake opens the door on my side.

"What a pleasant surprise to see you."

He shuts the door back and goes to the opposite side. I scoot to his side, before he opens the door.

"Sit in the front," I growl, once he opens the door.

Luciana sighs, "Move over, Rico."

"I'm not sitting next to him, Luci."

Jake slams the door shut and opens the passenger's side, but Luciana gives him a deadly look. "In the back with him now."

"But, the seat is empty," he argues.

"It's my car," Luciana remarks, "My rules."

He shuts the door in annoyance and opens the door on my side. "Move over, Rico."

"No," I retort, "I'm not sitting next to you, asshole." Jake shrugs and climbs in, sitting on my lap, shutting the door. "Get off me!" I growl.

"You said that you didn't want to sit next to me," he reminds, "So, I'm sitting on top of you."

"Are you sure you're no longer obese? You're freaking heavy!"

"You just crossed the line," Jake remarks. A couple moments later, I feel an odd vibration meet my legs.

I growl, struggling, "Did you just fart on me?"

Jake cackles in delight. "Sure did." He does it again, making me grow even more upset.

"Get off me, Jake!" I wiggle beneath him. "Luci! Tell him to get off me!"

"Get off him, Jake," she says, "Or you can find yourself another ride."

He sighs, climbing off of me. "Fine."

"You two are so childish," she groans.

A whiff of the putrid scent met my nostrils. "My god, Jake, you stink!" I roll down my window.

He shrugs, laughing boisterously.

Luciana opens her glove compartment and sprays her perfume in the air.

"If I would've known I was going to deal with this, I would've just walked," I mutter, "But, I had to lose my keys."

"You lost your keys too?" Jake asks.

"Stop speaking to me, asshole." I pull out my cell phone and start playing the games on it. Jake does the exact same.

"Hand me your cell phones."

"Why?" We both inquest.

"You two are going to socialize while you're with me. Hand them here now."

"And if we don't?" Jake challenges.

She slams her foot on the brake, making both of us jerk forward. "Give them here now."

"You're insane," Jake adds, trying to open his door, but it won't open.

"The doors are on child-lock," Luciana comments.

Jake hesitantly hands her his phone and looks at me expectantly. I hand her mine also.

My eyes meet Luciana's eyes in her rear view mirror and I glare at her.

Entering Saundergate School, Luciana follows along with us. After some time, it seemed like she was leading the way.

"Why are you going with us?" Jake asks.

"Because I'm just curious," she remarks, "I've never been in here before."

Jake skeptically looks at her. "Really?"

She nods. "Besides, I'm your transportation."

"Well, since I'm not a complete idiot like your buddy Rico, I know for a fact that you've been here before."

I shove him. "Shut up."

Jake's eyes meet mine. "Why are we following her? Haven't you thought of that, Rico?"

"Oh, I forgot to tell you guys something," Luciana butts in. "There's a surprise for you two for volunteering."

"There is?" Jake questions. "What is it?"

"You have to see for yourself," she replies, "Come with me."

I ask, "How do you know?"

"Because it's from me."

Jake and I exchange glances of surprise and he shrugs.

We follow behind her until we're inside an equipment room.

I quickly spot a cake, with a cake cutter.

"Why would we eat cake in an old equipment room?" Jake inquired.

Luciana throws him a look of annoyance. "Then the cake is just for Rico."

Jake snorts, "I'm not that much a fan of cake anyway."

"You should be, fatty," I taunt.

He shoves me to the ground. "I'm warning you to cease your ridiculing this instance."

"Stop it, you two," Luciana demands. "Speaking of which, I forgot something in my car. I'll be right back. Don't kill each other while I'm gone." She dashes off.

"What are you going to do about it?" I counter.

"Can we just stop this already?" Jake rolls his eyes in irritation.

"For now, I guess."

He helps me up. "I have a weird feeling about this."

"Me too," I admit. "I'll go see Luci for a second." I start heading for the entrance.

Next thing I know, the door shuts and I hear ascending jingling keys from the other side.

I go up to the door and try to open it, but it won't open.

"Luciana!" I holler. "The door is stuck!"

Jake appears. "What's going on?"

"The door won't open."

He shoves me out of the way. "Move. Let me do the honors." He attempts to twist the knob, but it won't budge. He attempts several more times, but fails to open it. "It's stuck pretty good." He starts slamming his shoulder into the door.

"Luciana!" I holler, "The door is stuck!"

Jake continues slamming his shoulder into the door, even after he rubbed his shoulder in distress.

"Jake, maybe you should stop," I simply advise.

He ignores me and starts using his other shoulder.

"Luciana!"

"She obviously can't hear you!" Jake yells at me. "So, be quiet!"

"At least I'm not breaking my damn shoulder."

"And you'd rather break your vocals?" he exclaims, then his lips form a smile, "Actually, that would be great. Keep at it."

"Piss off, asshole."

He pauses, rubbing both his shoulders.

A thought comes to mind. "I think the door is locked."

"You don't say?"

"Well, I'm not the one with bruised shoulders, am I?"

He doesn't respond. He seats himself on a stack of floor mats.

"Luciana!" I holler. "The door is locked!"

I suddenly hear her voice. "I'm going to go get help, Rico."

Jake just starts hysterically laughing.

"What?"

"Are you a freaking idiot, Rico?" He sighs. "Your best friend locked us in here."

I look at him crazily. "No she didn't."

"She has the keys, Rico!" he exclaims.

"How do you know?"

"Piece all of the facts together, you moron," Jake growls, "She told our parents we're going on some trip for Spring Break, she gave them brochures to the same place, made sure our keys were missing, gave us both a ride here, and lured us back here."

"But I always misplace my keys," I defend.

"Yeah, but I don't," Jake refutes, "I always place my keys in my boxer drawer."

"Boxer drawer?"

"Yeah," he groans, "I'm calling my sister." He digs into his pockets and his face falls. "She has our phones."

We both hear Luciana start laughing.
