Sunlight fell onto Isha's eyes as she lay on her bed staring into space. Her left hand searched for the phone on the table beside her bed.
"Abhi toh sirf 11.30 baje hain." She groaned as she covered her ears with the pillow.
"Inlogo ko Sunday ke din bhi Santi nahi hoti." She said, sitting up on the bed and removing her duvet.
Standing up on her feet, she stood up on her feet. Sleepily walking towards the door.
She opened the door, only to hear her father's loud shout.
She went downstairs to see her brother standing in front of her dad with his head low as her dad growled at him with furious eyes.
Ikshan saw Isha coming downstairs as he signalled his dad about her presence. Abhishek, their dad, gaze shifted to Isha who was yawning while standing on the stairs.
"Beta! Idhar aavo" Abhishek said, his voice sweet as he smiled at her daughter. Ikshan's forehead creased as he listened to his father's sweet tone towards Isha, when earlier his tone was harsh while talking to him.
"Me?" Isha pointed at herself before looking here and there to check if someone else was also present over there and maybe he was calling them.
"Haan tum."
Little did she know her brother was being scolded by their father for not waking up early.
She slowly went towards them. "Tu ja nahane!" Abhishek dismissed Ikshan from there. Ikshan, without saying a single word, left from there and stood in a corner to witness the scene between his dad and sister.
"Haan papa boliye?" She said, her voice sounding like she was still in sleep.
"Beta, mere chilane se tum uth gayi na, tera bhai hain hi aesa hi mujhe chillana padhta hain. Sorry, maine neend kharab kar di na teri?" Her father gently patted her head as she simply blinked.
"It's okay, papa." She innocently smiled as her father kissed her forehead.
On the other hand, Ikshan stands bewildered in the corner, watching the scene in front of him. He scoffs, not ready to accept this. How his father just scolded him for sleeping late whereas now he is apologizing to his sister for disturbing her sleep.
Before he stepped in this matter, his father asked Isha. "Toh ab beta kya karne wali hain?" Isha stayed silent, as she thought of what she should do now. Abhi bhi neend aa rahi hain, wapas Sone chalte hain. She thought to herself.
"Wapas Sone?" Her father asked as if he read her mind.
"Uh.. uh.. thike, jesa aap kahe." She said, stretching her arms out.
Her father's expression changed; the gentle smile on his face fell, his eyes darkened, and his forehead creased. "NAHANE JA NAHANE!" He roared at her.
Isha, now fully alert, hastily nodded. "Haan Haan!". She ran upstairs and slammed the door.
Ikshan, who was witnessing the scene laughed. His laugh caught the attention of Abhishek.
"Tu kya apne daat nikal raha hain aur tu abhi bhi idhar hi khada hain, bhag yaha se!!" Ikshan ran to his room, terrified of his father's anger.
"Kya nalayak bacche hain!! Dono ke dono Kumbhakaran jese." Abhishek rubbed his temple with the finger feeling frustrated.

After 45 minutes, both siblings came down and settled on the dining table. Isha is in front of Abhishek, and Ikshan is beside Abhishek, who is reading a newspaper.
"Maa!! Chaiiii aur breakfasttt donaaaa!!" Isha called out. Abhishek looked up from the newspaper.
"Beta, time kya ho raha hain?" Abhishek asked.
"12.20" Isha answered, her voice confused as she glanced at the clock hanging on the wall.
"12.20? Toh 12 baje breakfast hota hain ya lunch?" Abhishek asked, his eyes narrowed and eyebrows up. Isha gulped sensing the tension.
Ikshan, who was also going to ask for the tea, stayed quiet, observing the scene, knowing he could be dead too with his sister.
"Lunch. Voh galti se lunch ki jagah breakfast nikal gaya aur pani ki jagah Chai." She went paled.
As his attention went back to the newspaper, she looked at his brother, asking him with her eyes. Her eyeball pointed to Abhishek, then the eyebrows up. 'What happened to him?'
But Ikshan didn't understand her sign language as he knitted his brows together in confusion, asking her what she just said.
She repeated the same gesture, yet his brain didn't process the sign.
"Gadha," Isha muttered on her breath.
Ikshan was quick enough to hear the insult. "Kya? Gadha boli mujhe?" Isha rolled her eyes.
Netry, their mother, joined them. "Maa, lunch?" Ikshan mouthed to her, not wanting Abhishek to hear it.
"Abhi baan raha hain." Netry quietly said as they both nodded.
"Sunoo! Hum dono ko tum dono se ek baat karni thi." Netry said, clearing her throat to gain Abhishek's, Isha's and Ikshan's attention.
"Haan boliye Maa."
"Main aur tumhare papa, hum dono yaha se ja rahe hain." Netry stated, her voice clear once everyone's eyes were on her.
"Kitne dino tak?" Ikshan asked, curiously.
"Pata nahi-" Before Netry could complete, Isha inrupted.
"Kya hum dono itne kharab hain ki aap log ghar chhod ke ja rahe ho?" She said, her voice dramatic as she wiped fake tears off her face.
"Hum dono ghar chhod ke nahi ja rahe aur ek minute tujhe aesa kyu lagta hain ki hum tum dono se pareshan hoke ja rahe hain... kyuki agar tum dono ko chhod ne ki baat aayi toh main aur tumhari mummy tum dono ko ghar se bahar nikal denge par hum is ghar mein hi rahenge." Abhishek taunted, keeping aside the newspaper.
"Kya papa aap bhi!" Isha pouted, crossing her arms.
"Hum dono tumhari Nani ke ghar ja rahe hain. Nani ki health acchi nahi hain, unki condition abhi serious hain." Netry said, her voice serious. "Toh hum dono unka dhyaan rakhe waha ja rahe hain. Tum dono ko bhi leke jate par hume pata nahi hain ki hume kitne time tak rukh na pade..."
Abhishek continued. "...mahine ne bhi lag sakhte hain kyuki fir tumhare nanu ka bhi dhyaan rakhna hain. Hum nahi chahte tum dono ki padhai kharab ho isiliye tum dono idhar hi rahoge."
"Toh fir humara khana-peena?" Isha asked, worried about herself when her parents won't be present.
"Tum dono Abhiman chachu ke ghar rahoge, meri unse baat hogai hain." Hearing her father's words, Isha smiled to herself. Wait... Abhiman chachu ke ghar, Karan bhaiya ke papa. Agar waha pe rehna hua toh Krish se mulakat roz hoti rahegi kyuki Karan bhaiya ne bola tha ki Krish unke waha baar baar aata rehta hain.
"Haan chalega hume," Isha answered, feeling excited.
"Kya chalega? Papa wese bhi abhi summer vacation start hoga so we will get vacation of 2 months. Why don't we come with you both?" Ikshan suggested throwing a whole bucket of water on Isha's excitation.
Abhishek thought for a moment before saying. "Par Beta tickets ho chuki hain hamari aur vacation ki wagah se hume tickets maan maan milli hain. Toh fir ab tum dono ki tickets kaha se le?"
"Haan toh koi nhi papa, main dhundta hu- ahhhh..." His words discontinued as Isha kicked his leg with full force.
"Papa ne bola na ki unko ticket ho gayi hain aur abhi hamare liye ticket milna muskil hain. Aap samjhte kyu nhi ho?" Isha said, gritting her teeth while Ikshan rubbed his leg.
"Wese aap dono jaa kab rahe ho?"
"Next Sunday."

The warm glow of the T.V. lightens up the cosy living room. The two boys are lounging on the sofa as they share a laugh at the scene on the screen in front of them. Their laughs were interrupted by a knock on the door followed by the ringing of the bell.
The boys exchanged curious glances, thinking who could it be at this time. One lowered the volume of the T.V. while the other asked aloud. "Kon hain?"
No answer followed by another ringing bell. "Ja check Kar kon hain." The elder ordered the younger.
"Humesa main jata hu, aap jake check kijye Kom aaya hain." The younger defened.
Another couple of knocks were heard by an angry voice from a neighbouring room. "Yash, Laksh. Kya kar rahe ho? Jake jaldi check Karo kon hain darwaze pe."
Rolling his eyes, Yash rose to his feet, heard his father's voice and opened the door. To his surprise, there was nobody, just a box kept on the doorstep.
"Again?" He picked it up. His eyes searched for the sender of the box but found no one. It has been regular for him to find a box on his doorstep which had food in it and a note stuck on its top.
"Bhaiya, kon hain?" Laksh asked, from inside.
Yash closed the door and walked towards him with the box. "Wapas?" Laksh asked, as his eyes fell on the box. Yash removed the note attached to it and handed the box to his younger sibling.
The note attached read:
To Yash,
Smile regularly. It looks good on you. :)
He sighed and kept the note in his pants pocket. "Look it's cookies of different flavour." Yash glanced at his younger brother, who was looking at the box with excitement, the box filled with different coloured cookies.
Laksh picked one of them and put it in his mouth. "Mmhh... it's so good. Bhaiya yeh joh bhi bhej raha hain aapko voh Kitna accha khana banata hain." Yash took the seat beside his brother and grabbed a cookie from the box.
A loud thud grabbed their attention; it was their father who swung open the room door and slammed it loudly. He grabbed the car key from the table kept near the TV. While shouting on a call, and walked out of the house without glancing at his kids.
Yash shook his head at his father's behaviour. His thoughts were interrupted when Laksh spoke, "Aaj kya mang wa rahe hain hum lunch mein?"
"Pasta humne kal khaya tha, parso ko pizza aur uske pehle pav bhaji khayi. Aaj Masala paneer aur Naan mang waye?" Laksh suggested as he leaned back on the sofa eating the cookies.
"Aaj ghar ka kha le?" Yash asked, his voice soft.
"Pata hain na kya hota hain jab bhi hum ghar ka khana khana sochte hain toh. Last time almost Pura khana jal gaya tha." Laksh shivered recalling the memory. "Aur hum itne saalo se bahar ka hi toh kha rahe hain toh aaj kyu ghar ka khana?"
"I am worried about our health, especially yours," Yash answered, concern written in his voice.
"Itne saalo mein hum bimar nahi padhe, aage bhi nahi padenge." Laksh shrugged.
"Ja mera phone mere room mein padha hain. Joh mang wana ho mang wa le." Laksh grinned and runned to the room hearing his elder brother's words.
On the other hand, Yash sat on the sofa concerned about both of them. How long will they have to eat from outside? His mind came up with an idea; he decided to work on it from tomorrow. He surely will.
