Don't be a silent reader pleasee...

Kritika stood outside the door of her senior's class, she peeked inside the class, glancing at the clock hung on the wall above the white board. Time was still left before the school starts, even students have not arrived yet.

She glanced at the lunch box in her hand and then looked at Jay, who was sitting beside Krish and limited students were there which she could count with two fingers. Jay's and Krish's attention was solely on the books. Too invested.

Something flicked inside her mischievous mind. Ever since that Aditya thing, Jay started talking nicely with me and he stopped stealing lunch box from me as Aditya left but I missed that side of him. She pouted.

She stepped inside the class with a friendly smile, her presence stole the attention of Jay's and Krish's, who returned the smile, Jay's eyes flicked to the box in her hand as he grinned and leaned back on the desk, waiting for her to approach him.

It took less than two seconds for his smile vanished when she walked past through him and went to his classmate. Krish slowly turned his head to Jay, who scoffed.

Jay gazed at Krish. "Kya?"

[What?]

Krish gave him a awkward smile. "Sab kuch thik hain?"

[Is everything fine?]

Jay nodded. "I don't think so. Pakka tune kuch Kiya hoga." Krish said, not believing Jay.

Jay rolled his eyes at Krish words and turned his ears to Kritika talking to his clssmate. "Manav!" Manav looked at Kritika with a soft smile.

"Yes?"

"For you." She kept the lunch box in his desk.

"For me?' He pointed at himself in disbelief, she nodded. "Why?"

"You helped me few days back in getting home when I was alone." Kriti said, her voice rising purposely.

"Oh! Usme iski kya jarurat thi?" He chuckled.

"Just take it." She said, hissing.

"Thank you so much, Kriti." Manav said, smiling cheekily.

She nodded and spun around to leave but stopped at Jay's and Krish's desk, they both looked at her. "Hello Krish bhaiya!" She greeted him, who greeted her back. "I should o now, class will start soon."

With that she left, while Jay stared at her without blinking but she didn't spare a single glance at Jay, let alone talking to him.

Krish took a deep sigh and turned his body in Jay's direction, he pursed lips and slammed his fist on his mouth, looking at Jay who was staring at the door blinking. "Sach bata tune kya kiya?"

[Tell the truth, what did you do?]

"Kuch nahi bhai-" Jay was about to explain himslf but stopped when he heard Manav from behind.

[Dude nothing-]

"Kriti bhi..." Manav chuckled. "...Na bola tha fir bhi..." He was talking to himself. "...like kya jarurat thi iski."

[I told her no then also...]

[...like what was the need...]

Krish spun around, facing Manav. "Bhai tujhe nahi khana toh de idhar, de." He extended his hand.

[If you don't want to eat it then give it here, give.]

In return, Manav didn't reply instead made a weird face at Krish and turned his focus to his stuies.

Isha, Kriti and Rhea stared at Anaya who was laughing when they were waiting for her for ever since break has started but she didn't seemed to budged and kept talking to Karan.

"Mera bhai mujhse itni baat nahi karta jitni meri dost se karta hain." Isha said, aggressively biting on the carrot.

[My brother doesn't talk to me how much he does with my friend.]

"There something going on between them." Rhea said, narrowing her eyes as she chewing her food.

Soon, Anaya's conversation ended with Karan and she headed towards her friends. "Hellooo!" She greeted enthusiastically while sitting on the seat right infrontof Isha and beside Kritika.

Instead of greeting back, they looked at her suspiciously. "What?" Anaya furrowed her eyebrows as she looked at them.

Isha slammed her hand on the table and stood up, she narrowed her eyes, leaning forward at Anaya while biting on the carrot. On the while, Anaya kept leaning backward maintaining the distance. "What's going on beteen you and my brother?"

"Baatein?" Anaya replied, unsure.

"Kesi baatein?" Isha asked, bringing her face closer to Anaya's.

"Pyaat vyaar wali baatein." Rhea replied, shruggingly.

Anaya made a face at Rhea. "Kuch bhi. We were just talking." She pushed Isha away from her.

"Anayaa!" Manav called from behind, she turned around, she stood up. "Haan, Manav?"

"Can you come with me right now? PE sir has calledus." He said, in response Anaya nodded. He turned towards Kritika and gave her a smile which she returned.

Unaware of someone staring at them, they hitted a small conversation with each other. "Shant bhai shant!" Krish said, patting Jay's shoulder, while he glared at that Manav.

"Kya shant." Jay scoffed.

"Take a deep breath in." Krish said to Jay, while himself he took a deep breath. "And out." Krish exhaled.

"Now repeat after me, Om Shanti... Shanti.. shant-" He stopped when Jay was glaring at hi and started eating his food quitely.

"Is manushya ka kuch karna padega." Jay muttered under his breath.

Krish furrowed his eyebrows. "Manushya?"

"Arey Manav.. Manushya. Paryayvachi shabd." Jay explained.

Anaya and Manav left the canteen when Karan approached the girls. "Where's Anaya?"

"She went with Manav." Ishanvi replied.

"Where?" He asked curiously, gazing at the canteen door. In response, she shrugged her shoulders.

He nodded and went out searching for her, he searched at couple of classes but they were no where, when his eyes caught them standing and talking to the PE sir, he waited at a distance for them to over their conversation.

Once the sir was done, he instructed them about something and left, Anaya was also about to leave when Manav held her wrist to stop her from going. Karan's forehead creased when he saw Anaya was not uncomfortable, instead she was laughing at something Manav had said.

He scooted closer to hear their conversation, pretending to be causal. Their conversation was not clearly audible to him but he tried his best to catch every words that they were speaking.

As he tried to focus on their conversation, he was constantly getting distracted from two boys speaking and their voice overlapping each other. Karan hissed and turned towards them. "Thoda dhire bolona."

Taking his words in positive manner, they lower their voice and Karan again turned all his focus on Anaya and Manav. His ears perked up when they mentioned meeting each other.

"Let's meet today to..." Their voice become slightly inaudible when the two boys started speaking loudly again. "...go on a date."

A date? He said.

He looked at Anaya, waiting for her to answer him, hoping her answer is no. "Umm... fine. At 6?" Anaya replied, grinning.

Karan's chest tighten, when Anaya agreed his hands curled into tight fists as an unfamiliar rage twisted in his chest. She's going on a date? With him?

He wanted to storm over there and pull her away but he forced himself to stay put. No. If she's really interested in Manav, I'm not going to make a fool of myself.

His jaw clenched as he watched Manav smiled. "Cool. I'll pick you up."

Anaya nodded, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear. "Alright. I'll see you then."

Manav finally let go of her wrist, but Karan had already seen enough. His chest burned with frustration as he turned on his heel and walked off, each step heavier than the last.

He didn't care where he was going-he just needed to get out of there before he did something reckless.

He walked out removing them from his gaze, he headed back to the canteen, sitting with his friends silently while they discussed about the trip, which was in two days.

No matter how much he tried not to bring the recent sight into his mind but it flashing infront of his eyes. He closed his eyes and frustratedly and stood up abruptly, the chair scraping against the floor with a jarring screech.

Everyone gazed at him but he didn't care a bit and walked out of the canteen ignoring the stares following him from behind.

"What's wrong with him?" Krish asked, confusedly and other shrugged their shoulders.

______

Jay wiped his forehead which was fulled of sweat as he walked back to his classroom from his PE class, that's when his eyes fell on Kritika and Anaya walking out from Physics lab.

He was about to approach them but halted when he heard his name in their conversation, he kept a healthy distance from which he can hear their conversation and not let them know that he is walking behind them.

"Something happened between you and Jay bhaiya?" Anaya asked, glancing at Kritika. She shook her head in denial, suggesting nothing happened. "Then why are ignoring him?"

"Just for fun." Kritika replied, chuckling.

"Fun?" Anaya repeated.

"Yes, it's been a while we haven't fought so I thought of teasing him." Kritika answered.

Jay scoffed silently hearing her reply, he was trying his best to get her attention since morning but here she was, ignoring him on purpose-just for fun.

Shaking his head, Jay quickened his pace, deciding to give her a taste of her own medicine. If she wanted to play games, he was more than ready.

Just as they reached the staircase, Jay casually walked past them, pretending not to notice Kritika at all. He greeted Anaya with a brief nod but didn't spare Kritika a glance.

Kritika, who had been expecting him to call her out for ignoring him, frowned. She turned to Anaya, who gave her a knowing smirk.

"You were teasing him, and now he's teasing you back," Anaya whispered.

Kritika clicked her tongue in annoyance. She had expected Jay to get frustrated and demand her attention, not act as if she didn't exist.

"Two can play this game," she muttered under her breath.

Anaya chuckled.

Kritika narrowed her eyes at Jay's back, already plotting her next move. If he thought he could win this, he was sorely mistaken.

________

Two days have past with Karan and Jay ignoring Anaya and Kritika, while Anaya was confused about Karan's cold behavior, Kritika was planning something to tease Jay more than before.

It was the day of the trip when Students were supposed to climb the train to reach the destination. Krish walked on the platform which black glasses on his face, the rumbling of his suitcase wheels echoed through the train station.

"Platform Number three. Here." Madhav, his father said as he crossed check the ticket and the number displaying on the screen.

Krish sighed and looked at the sparsely populated station, he turned towards his mother. "Maa, look nobody has arrived yet and you woke me up at 1'o clock." He rolled his eyes. "Look, it's only 2.15 a.m and my train is at 3.30, we still have one hour."

His mother, Sunita, gave him a stern look. "It's better to be early than to rush at the last minute. What if there was traffic on the way?"

Krish sighed dramatically, dragging his suitcase beside him as his father led the way toward a nearby bench. The station was quiet at this hour, with only a few passengers scattered around, some dozing off on benches while others sipped chai from roadside stalls.

"I could've slept for another hour," Krish muttered, pushing his glasses up his nose.

His mother smacked his arm lightly. "Stop complaining and sit down."

"Beta, you weren't the only one forced to wake up early." Madhav said, shaking his head.

Krish plopped onto the bench, stretching his legs. Just as he was about to put on his headphones, a familiar voice called out.

"Oi, Krish!"

He turned to see Jay and Yash walking towards him, dragging their own suitcase with a sleepy expression. Behind them, a few more students from their group followed, yawning and rubbing their eyes. Jay dropped onto the bench beside him.

Krish chuckled, already feeling a little better. As more students started arriving, the station slowly came to life.

Jay and Yash hitted a conversation with Krish's father when Prakash sir approached them. Madhav stood up to shake his hands with Prakash sir.

Madhav glanced at Krish. "This one was complaining about waking up too early, but it looks like most of the students are just as sleepy."

Prakash Sir smiled. "Well, they'll wake up as soon as the excitement kicks in. These school trips always turn out to be the most memorable experiences."

Krish, who had been half-listening, sighed. "Memorable, sure. But right now, all I want is sleep."

Yash patted his back. "Don't worry, you can sleep on the train. Unless, of course, we decide to keep you awake."

Jay smirked. "Yeah, we could always start a game or, better yet, play some loud music."

Krish groaned. "You guys know that everyone must be sleeping at 3.30 am."

Madhav and Prakash Sir laughed at their banter.

"Alright, students, gather up!" Prakash Sir called out. "Make sure you have your belongings. We'll be boarding in a few minutes."

"Mujhe fikar ho rahi hain." Madhav said, rubbing his palm over his face.

Prakash sir patted Madhav's should, reassuring him. "Aap fikar na kare, hum aapke bete ka acche se dhyan rakhenge."

Madhav lifted his eyebrows. "Mujhe apne bete ki nahi, aapki fikar ho rahi hain. Mera beta joh ja raha hain aapke sath."

Prakash was taken aback by his words. Madhav continued. "Aapko yaad hoga isne last time kya kiya tha." He narrowed his eyes at Krish, who gave a prideful smile.

Krish walked towards the area where students were sitting for bonfire, laughing, talking, singing songs and playing games. He quitely took his seat beside Prakash sir with a horrified expression spread across his face.

Students slowly left for their tent as it was getting late and they were camping in the middle of the jungle, when few students were left, Krish turned towards Prakash sir. "Sir..." He called, his voice low.

He continued. "When we were coming back from trekking, I met someone."

"Who?" Prakash Sir asked, curiously.

"I don't know, an old lady, her hairs grey, her nails long, her face and hand wrinkled and her back bent. She had covered herself with a white shawl. Ekdum mujhe yeh wali feeling di..." Krish shivered recalling it. "But she told me something."

"What?" Now everyone's eyes was on Krish.

"That here." He pointed at one place. "This place is middle of the jungle. There's a skeleton of a man who was killed by the villagers and there's a saying that his soul is wander in this jungle since he was killed at the exact at this spot."

Prakash gave him a look. "Nice try, Krish. This ain't a joke."

"Everyone move back to their tent, right now!" Prakash gave instruction to the students.

"If you don't believe me then why don't you dig over here and check." Krish said, his expression tense.

Prakash shook his head in denial. "Sir, let's check one time by digging. Is baat se Krish ko bhi shanti ho jaye gi." Jay said in support of Krish.

Prakash rolled his eyes and was about to leave for his tent, that's when one of the student came with a shovel in his hands. "Sir, Let's digg!"

"No, we're not." Prakash resisted.

"Yes, we will." A few more students agree with Krish.

Even after Prakash stopped them from digging, they didn't listened and one student started digging the spot which Krish mentioned earlier.

After sometime, they started seeing something white beneath the brown soil. Everyone looked at each other, Jay bended down and dig little more.

Everyone's eyes went wide when they saw it was actual skeleton, Everyone at first thought Krish was joking but it seems like he was not.

More digging made the skeleton more visible to Everyone's eyes, some started screaming and running to their tent.

Prakash stood at his spot terrified, not able to process what he just saw, when Krish shook him. "Sir?"

Prakash screamed on top of his lungs and run inside his tents when Krish stood behind laughing with Jay and Yash shook his head done with their action.

Krish, Jay and Yash laughed recalling the memory while Prakash cleared his throat feeling embarrassed. "I have to meet other parents."

Madhav smiled and nodded. When he left, Madhav turned towards Krish. "Don't do anything dumb like this again."

Krish nodded.

Krish looked here and there to look for Ishanvi but she was nowhere to be found. "Karan abhi tak aaya nahi?" He whispered asked to Jay who shook his head. He once looked around the platform but saw Anaya, Rhea and Kritika only.

After sometime, train has arrived but Isha and Karan has not. Madhav and Radhika helped Krish and Yash to get on train. A final call has come that train will leave soon everyone is worried about Karan and Isha.

Prakash sir called them but they were not picking up the calls.

The train has started moving slowly, Krish stood by the door looking for Isha and Karan and that's when his eyes caught the sight of Isha running with her luggage in her hands.

Krish extended his hand for Isha as she fasten her speed and took his hand, he pulled her up. She kept her over her chest to caught her breath. "Are you alright?" Krish asked.

Isha was about to speak but a voice called out. "Abeyyyy! Oiiiii! Krishhhhh! Mujheee bhi hath deeeee!" Krish looked out and saw Karan running, Krish extended his hand for him and pulled him inside.

"Thik hain bhai?" Krish asked, patting Karan's shoulders who nodded.

Krish turned to face Isha but she went inside already, he took Karan's luggage and went inside followed by Karan, they looked here and other, found everyone sleeping and it was dark.

"Tu humare sath hain, idhar." Krish pointed at his seat where Jay and Yash were keeping the luggage beneath the seat.

Krish excuses himself and went ahead to Isha. "Found your seat?" She nodded.

An old lady was sleeping and Isha's seat was in middle, to open the middle bed she needed to wake the lady up. "Wake her." Krish whispered to Isha.

"She is sleeping, I can't." She pouted.

"Then will you stand like this till morning?" Krish asked. Isha shook her head as no.

When she was not ready to wake her up, Krish gently shook the lady. "Dadi.. dadi..." The lady slowly opened her eyes. "Haan, beta kya hua?" She asked.

"Dadi, voh yeh seat khol ni thi." Krish replied.

The old lady chuckled and stood up with the help of Krish and Isha, since she was too old, it was hard for her to stood by her own.

Krish opened the middle bed and helped Isha with covering it with a white sheet. "If you need anything then tell me." Krish said before going back to his seat.
