To be Human
We're Broken People
"Stay away from her"
They said
"She will be the end of you"
They said
"No one that stayed with her has ever lived"
They said
She was the girl
With the unnatural blue eyes
They weren't blue like the sky
Or the sea
They were blue
Like a burning star
Crashing through the atmosphere
And they raged with a unholy light
But they were beautiful
Beautiful in a way no other could be
They were filled with storms and chaos and pain
But in all that
She was beautiful
They called her powerful
So powerful she destroyed anyone who got close
They called her a monster
She would never fit in they said
No matter how human she tries to be
They said she was inhumane
For breaking so many
But I looked at her
Standing on that battlefield
Head bowed and hands bloody
And I saw a broken girl
Who wanted nothing more
Than to be accepted
And loved for who she was
So I took her hand
And held on tight
Even when they warned me to get away
Even when they said she would kill me
Even when she herself
Resisted
"They're right"
She said
"I really am a monster"
But she was wrong
Because she was more human
Than anyone else
Human because of her mistakes
Human because she had been hurt
Human because all she needed
Was someone who would hold her
And tell her it was alright to make mistakes
It was alright for her to be herself
It was alright for her to be not ok
She was more human than anyone
She just needed someone to see the light
That had always been inside of her.
