The Void
We're Broken People
Have you ever looked out the window,
20 floors below
With the ground cold and unforgiving
And wonder
What would it be like to jump?
What would it be like to step off the edge?
What would it be like to kiss death on his cheeks?
What would it be like to feel your body fracture into a dozen shards of bone?
You can only wonder
Because you turn away soon after
The void calls the living
But it is not their time
And so it is not your time either
Because with every rattling breath you take
With every second you make the choice to stay
With every step you take forward even though the pain that shoots through your legs is unbearable
You are brave.
And not everyone can walk into the dark, and continue walking even when the demons claw at your face and your arms and your skin.
Not everyone can say, "I went through hell and back, and I survived."
So keep walking, because the night is not infinite.
But if it tires you so, and the void seems like home, tell him to come back another day.
Because you are suffering, you are hurting, and your heart is torn with holes, but you are a living miracle.
And with all your scars and tired smiles, there is beauty in courage, courage to get up every day and face the world even when your own is nothing but ash.
So the void calls, but the void is nothing but an illusion.
It promises nothing but the dark, where you worked so hard to climb out of.
