chapter 12

I grumbled rubbing my eyes as I peered up out of my coffin. The lid was still wide open, something I usually wouldn't do. I preferred the lid to be closed...just a natural guttural instinct to keep the light out. I sat up, my long hair messily following my lazing head. I looked out the window to see the reds and pinks of the sun going down, casting a red glow around the whole room. I knew I was up a little early, peering at my alarm clock it was 7:20 am. I had a choice to make, go back to bed or wake up and find Alaric to spend time with him. Now that I think about it...I put my head between my legs. "Ugh I don't even know what dorm room he's in!" It's the weekend so I knew I didn't have to worry about classes or a schedule, I had time to look around if I wanted to. I remember seeing zanders room number and my ears seemingly perked up. I can hang out with Zander till Alaric wakes up! Or until breakfast whichever one comes first.

I slowly raised to my feet inside my coffin and stepped out. I dragged my feet sleepily over to the closet with all the new pretty dresses. I yawned stepping into the closet, now I wasn't a dumby to magic. I knew of it's existence and even how to use some magical objects. But as the closet got bigger and even a new door appeared...I felt kind of flabbergasted. I hadn't actually stepped in yesterday, just grabbed the pajamas that were at the front then ran to put them on. I slowly reached for the door knob of the mystery door.

I once again opened the door to find a bathroom, equiped with a shower, sink, toilet, 2 labeled hampers, and another mysterious door across from the one I just walked into the room through. I stepped into the bathroom looking around to try and find some basic necessities. The mirror a vampire mirror, specifically made to show the reflection of vampires...another magic object in this clearly magic room. It was shining and casting back an image of a very tired short vampire girl. My hair was a mess, tangled to high heavens. Dark circles under my eyes, my lips dry and cracked. I felt... insecure looking at my reflection. I quickly turned away to look at more of the room. I found 2 hair brushes, 2 tooth brushes, 2 sticks of deodorant, even some feminine hygiene products all underneath the sink.

I grabbed the brush and quickly began running the brush through my thick long hair. It seems that the other door...was the door to another dorm. Another girl would be occupying this bathroom sometimes. I'll have to remember to knock next time. After about 3 minutes all of my hair was finally silky soft. I found some hair accessories in a bin on top of the sink and quickly tied my hair back into a bun. Much easier to manage when it's up out of my face. I grabbed the tooth brush and began brushing my teeth. Once I was done I slipped back into my closet and re-locked my door so no one would get into my room.

I picked out a comfortable outfit, settling for an oversized sweater, shorts, leg warmers, and soft house shoes. If I was going to be hanging out all day, might as well do it in something comfortable. I walked back into the room peaking into the vanity table, several skin care products, lip care, nail care, some light makeup, and...vein pronouncer. A powder that opened the veins...making them appear bluer. I put it back into the vanity shaking my head and grabbing a tube of chapstick. Opening the packaging and quickly applying it to my cracked lips.

After being satisfied with my appearance I peaked my head outside the door of my dorm. I saw the halls were empty but I could hear some light chatter at the common area. I slowly stepped out, locking my door and slipping the key into the pocket of my shorts. I walked towards the sound of the voices, no matter what I'd have to pass them before going into the male hall to talk to Zander. As I turned the corner I could see the group. It was a group of students...with Rosalie right in front. "Yeah I got paired with a prince, I'm going to be royalty! He looks mean and scary too so I don't have to worry about other people being rude to me. He'll tair them to shreds." I tried my best to quickly slip past the group without getting any attention. "Oh, Lilith? Where are you going?" I bit my lip the breath freezing in my throat. "O-oh I was just going to check on a friend, I got up too early and I don't know where my doms room is." I all but mumbled. I hated talking to Rosalie, sure she wasn't mean to me...but she definitely wouldn't be afraid to step on me if I stepped out of line with her. "Oooh, who is your Dom, maybe someone here knows there room?" It wasn't shocking that she was helping me, our parents pushed very heavily that we at least had a...decent relationship since my father was her father's business partner. "Alaric, uh he's tall and has long black hair." Rosalie came to stand right next to me. "You just described like half of the guys here Lilith." I giggled awkwardly. "Uh he's got darker blue skin, super red eyes, super long ears. Uh hes..." Someone cut me off. "You're with the pure blood prince?" Rosalie's ears seemed to perk up as she turned to me. "Is that true Lilith?" I rubbed the back of my head. "Uh yeah, tho I don't really care for his royalty or anything." For a split second I could see disdain for me in Rosalie's face before her face went back to the aloof expression she usually carried. "Oh well does anyone know which room her daddy is in?" I blushed not really enjoying being called out by Rosalie. "He's in the room right next to my Dom I can show you!" A girl with short pig tails said grabbing my elbow as she walked us away. "Hey, Lilith right? I'm a little too! My name's Nixie!" I smiled down at the shorter girl. As she talked I noticed small gills on the side of her neck, opening and closing as she breathed in and out. She seemed to blush and small scales appeared around her eyes as she turned away embarrassed. "I'm not completely vampire miss, I'm half vampire and half siren. I can breath out of water due to my vampire blood, but I usually prefer to hide it." I stopped and hugged her tightly. "I don't judge Nixie, I'm happy to make a new friend." She made a slight humming noise before giggling. "Thank you Lilith, I was really scared you were going to be like Rosalie."

"What do you mean like Rosalie?" I asked looking back at her. "O-oh...she doesn't like 'crossbreeders' as she calls us...she said my parents tainted the vampire blood line. I try to ignore her, she's a pure blood so I don't blame her I guess." I looked at the girl in shock. "You need to meet Alaric right now so I can change your mind! It's just Rosalie who's like that." She pointed to a door. "That's my daddies room, Alaric's to the right." I quickly ran up to the door and knocked and waited patiently. I heard some steps before the door opened.

"Oh hello there Rose bud! Good morning! Oh and you brought a friend, who might this be?" I gave Nixie a light push. "H-hi sir, my name's Nixie. Me and Lilith just met. My daddy is in the room right next to yours and Lilith was lost." Alaric patted my head showing Nixie a friendly smile, careful to not show his fangs. "Well now my little should know where I am. Thank you very much for bringing her here to me." Nixie blushed, her gills frilling and slight sharp fins spreading from her fingers. When she smiled you could see rows of very sharp teeth. "No-no thank you! Shes the nicest person I've met yet." He smiled proudly down at me. "I'm glad to hear that, if you ever want to have a playdate please let me know." She nodded smiling big, her sharp teeth once again showing proudly, before turning and running back towards the female dorms. "A siren hybrid, huh? Your making friend with a lot of unique people cutie." I blushed at the pet name. "She was very kind and I really had no clue what dorm you were in." Alaric pulled my wrist pulling me into his dorm room. "Well we have some things to discuss before breakfast, then I'll let you play with all your friends. Promise." I nodded following him into his room.
