~Chapter 26: Remember

Karta's POV

It was dark and cold, that's all I could remember from when I passed out. I knew what I was doing was a risky move. Michele told me to use it in only dire emergencies. From what he explained my body was in between my awakening as an elf. The potion I drank was supposed to extremely speed up the process. Certain elves are born with the power in their blood to heal. It was certainly a gamble to say the least.

I couldn't let Reese die, the only reason he was in danger was because of my existence and this war. If I didn't exist he would have met his mate naturally and wouldn't be in this predicament. Not to mention Haidel's pack wouldn't have lost so many members and the elves wouldn't have lost their beloved princess. Everything would've been better if I never existed...

Reese's POV

Everything went to shit as soon as Karta fell, Haidel caught him but he was screaming at Vimen asking what the hell happened. I was healed and stable for the most part but these babies wanted out,

I screamed as another contraction ripped through me, "stop screaming and help him Haidel!" I managed to yell at him. It seemed to work as he snapped out of his panic and looked at his mate.

"W-what do I do?" He whimpered out. I looked at Vimen and he sighed, "Based on what he said I guess he sped along his pregnancy so the babies could be removed safely and they wouldn't die from the amount of blood loss he sustained after he saved Reese" he took a breath and looked at Haidel, "it's safe to assume the safest option is to give him a C-Section and remove the children as soon as possible."

I grabbed Vimen's wrist,

"What about Karta? Will he be okay?" Vimen was silent for a while, "He's in the middle of transitioning, it might me enough to save his life. His wounds are already healing after all"

Haidel nodded, "please save my mate, I know he has done some bad things to both of you in the past....but he's changing, and I'm changing and He and I deserve the chance to love each other." Haidel pleaded and I swear he was about to be on his knees, an Alpha...on his knees. I didn't think I truly understood the strength of the mating bond before then. I squeezed Vimen's arm, "I'm stable, it'll be a while before the babies arrive. Save Karta"

Vimen looked down at me with conflicting eyes, "Okay... I'll save him but only because you insist" I watched as he went over to Karta and listened to the sounds of him performing the C-section as Haidel held Karta's hand. When he got one baby free and cleared it's throat it's little  screams relieved everyone in the room, Vimen handed the baby to Haidel and went in to recover the other baby....unfortunately I can't tell if the other baby made it out safety because shortly after that I fell unconscious.
