Secrets revealed
TEGA
"What?! Enohor's alive and you kept it a secret all these years?!" Sister Kemo yelled, shaking Aunty Enita furiously.
"Actually, your dad is aware" Aunty Enita stuttered, as she looked down at the floor.
I stood there, shocked as a sudden flow of anger rushed through my vains.
"Sister Kemoâ"
"Way ahead of you, this calls for a family meeting" She said.

"Aunty Enita, what did you tell us in the kitchen?" Sister Kemo asked.
"When were we in the kitchen?" She asked, feigning hurt.
"Don't even try to lie here because I would still say it!" Sister Kemo warned, "What did you tell us in the kitchen?".
"Umm, well. . .Enohor is still alive" She said reluctantly.
"Come again!" My mother voiced immediately.
"My daughter is alive? Ernest abi I told you. Your sister, this your sister!".
"Margaret, your husband is aware as well" Aunty Enita said again.
My mother looked from Aunty Enita to my Dad, who looked quite uncomfortable about the whole thing.
"What do you mean my husband is aware? he took away the dead body himself!" She yelled.
"Margaret, your husband was the one who decided we hide her" Aunty Enita said again.
"Ernest act like a man and tell her to shut up!" My mother said.
My father remained in his position, quietly staring at the floor.
"Ernest you're not saying anything, talk to your sister!" My mother yelled.
My father remained silent once more.
"So it means she's right, you knew and you didn't tell me!!!" My mother shouted, looking furious.
"Ernest why?! How could you team up with this idiot and hide ourâMY daughter away from away us, making us think she was dead. Do you know how it feels to for a mother to loose her own child that came out of her womb?" My mother sobbed as she went on her knees.
"Where is she?" She asked, after she stopped crying.
"Who?" Aunty Enita asked in response.
"Don't play dumb with me. Where's Enohor?" My mother yelled.
"Sheâ Your husband decided to keep her at sister Emu's place" She said.
"Where is that?" She asked.
"She lives in Bayelsa" Aunty Enita answered.
"Kids pack your things. We're traveling to Bayelsa tomorrow morning" My mother announced, "Ernest, I just want to know why you did all this. You owe me an explanation. How is she alive? I didn't hear her heartbeat and why did you keep her away from us?!".
My father took a deep breath before speaking up.
"After that day I announced her death I decided to take her to the hospital anyway. At that time, the doctor said she wasn't dead, the only reason we couldn't hear her heartbeat was because it slowed down. They did an emergency check up on her and admitted her in the hospital for some days until she was okay" he continued "Some police men found Enita guilty of murder and I knew that if I brought back Enohor she would tell them Enita almost killed her, And you, Margaret, you would have made sure Enita got arrested. I didn't want her to go to jail, it would tarnish our name, especially the small family business".
I looked at my dad.
This man doesn't deserve to be called my father!
How could he still side Aunty Enita after everything she's done?!
My mother walked to Aunty Enita and before we knew it, a hot slap landed on her face. She glared at my father angrily, who still went over to protect his sister.
I couldn't take it anymore, I walked out of the living room and straight into my room. A rush of different feelings flowed through me.
I felt happiness, anger, pain, sadness and excitement, all at once.
I began to pack some of my things into my mini-luggage.

We arrived at Bayelsa state by 2:00 PM. My dad advised that we stay in a hotel, but my mum insisted he take us to Enohor.
We boarded a cab and about 30 minutes later, we arrived at a Bungalow.
My dad walked ahead of us and knocked on the door.
The door opened slowly and we met a dark skinned woman who looked like she would be in her late thirties.
"Ernest welcome" She smiled, then looking at our mum she said "Margaret, I didn't expect to see you here".
"Of course you didn't" My mother retorted.
"Emu, can we come in?" My dad asked.
"Yes" She said.
We walked into the house and met a fine looking living room.
"Where's Enohor?" My mother asked, impatiently.
"I'll bring her" Aunty Emu walked in through a door and came out shortly with a small skinny child.
"Is this my daughter?" My mother asked. Signaling for Enohor to come over.
"Yes" Aunty Emu answered, non- chalantly.
Enohor burst into tears as she hugged my mother.
"Mummy I thought you left me. Aunty Emu is wicked!" She sobbed.
Aunty Emu's eyes grew wide and she stared at Enohor in anger.
"Come here" Sister Kemo ordered. Enohor complied, and hugging sister Kemo she continued to sob. I joined in the hug and broke into tears.
"I thought you were gone Enohor. I thought I would never see you again" I sobbed as well. Soon everyone began to cry, except my so called father and Aunties Enita and Emu.
"What happened? Did she treat you well? Why are you so skinny?" I asked, concerned.
"She use to beat me" Enohor sobbed, pointing at Aunty Emu "She use to say that if I don't do work I would not eat food. She did not allow me to go school again!".
I stared in shock at Aunty Emu who didn't seem to care at all.
"Ernest, don't worry. Let's get back to Enugu first. From today onwards, don't call me your wife!" My mother yelled.
"Enohor follow us. Leave everything here. Kemo, Tega, let's go" She yelled again.
Sister Kemo and I stood up at once and followed our mother and Enohor.
"Where are you going?" My so called father asked.
"To a hotel, where I won't see you or any of your useless family members" My mother
scoffed.
We went out of the house and took public transport a hotel.
Enohor sat on my mother's laps still sobbing loudly. I patted her hair softly which was now cut off.
Finally, we got a hotel. As soon as we got to a room, my mother ordered various foods.
I couldn't just believe my eyes as I watched my sister, Enohor eat like as if she hadn't eaten in years.
Few minutes later, we all went shopping at a mall. My mother bought more clothes for Enohor but I really didn't mind.
I moved around looking for good clothes for Enohor when I spotted a barbie doll that came with various outfits.
I grabbed Enohor and showed her the doll.
"You want this?" I asked and she nodded in reply.
I went back to the shop and told my mum and Sister Kemo about the doll which she agreed to buy.
After some minutes of shopping, we went back to the hotel.
"Are you feeling better now?" I asked Enohor as she laid down on the bed, almost asleep and she nodded sluggishly.
I sat beside her and patted her head softly.
I couldn't believe all that happened recently. It seemed so real, more like a dream.
I punched myself and It actually hurt. I couldn't believe it, I got my sister back.
