Chapter 90
Alpha's Rejected Mate Returns as Queen
90 The Crazy Grandmother
Selma Payneâs POV:
âActually, if it was me a year ago, I would have chosen the Moon Goddess without a doubt.â Dorothyâs eyes were blank as if she had recalled something. âBut times have changed, and everything has changed.
âSince Iâve chosen this path and chosen to become a werewolf witch, I donât have to be so unreasonable and waver between the two gods because I will never be able to calm my will. No god will accept such an impious believer, and I will lose everything.
âIf my identity cannot be separated, why should faith be separated? Iâll pray under the moonlight like every devout werewolf and explore the path of fate like every rigorous prophet. Iâll treat all faith with caution. Isnât that enough?â
I had to admit that she made a lot of sense.
But at the same time, it was also very unconventional. If the stubborn elders in the Council of Elders had heard what Dorothy said, they would have clamored to destroy this âblasphemerâ.
âBut how can one person worship two gods be considered pious?â I mumbled, âShouldnât faith be oneâs heart and soul?â
Dorothy suddenly blinked slyly and said rather embarrassedly, âActually, I was just thinking about this when you suddenly asked me. Of course, I have some doubts too, but this is enough for the current me. Maybe after another nineteen years, my mentality will change again? Intelligent creatures are so fickle!â
My unintentional question caused my good friend to have such a complicated reaction. I felt deeply guilty. Just as I was about to apologize, Dorothy suddenly stopped me as if she could read my mind.
âWhat about you? Selma, why do you want to apologize to me again? Did you realize that youâve been apologizing to me all day?
âAs a courtesy, Iâll also say something to you â be more confident in yourself. My girl, sometimes your power is greater than you think.
âDonât take your kindness too lightly. To those who love you, this is a priceless treasure.â
I had never seen such a dazzling side of Dorothy. If she was a star hidden behind the clouds and buried by the moonlight in the past, she was now a bird flying high in the sky under the sun.
I realized that I had the mentality of a âmother chickenâ, looking down at the infinite sky, the young eagle chirping, and the wind sending us to the place of hope that was infinitely far away. Everyone had their fate. I could provide help, but why should I be so self-righteous and try to control everything?
âOkay.â I chuckled like Dorothy. âSo, my dear prophet, when can we eat a cake that makes people dream good dreams? Maybe we can pick some berries for the stuffing?â
Dorothy pounced on me and tickled me, grumbling in dissatisfaction, âHey! Youâre not allowed to copy me!â
We laughed and ran away.
Behind us, the grass was lush, and hummingbirds were chirping.
Dorothyâs grandmother was a little fierce. She did not have the slightest bit of politeness for her guests. Or rather, she had no manners at all. From the moment she entered the room, she didnât even ask for my name. Instead, she just rudely waved her hand and shouted, âWho is this? Donât casually bring some shady little b*stards into the house! I donât want my house to become a breeding ground for little traitors.â
Gosh! That was very impolite!
I was just about to retort when I heard Dorothy say coldly, âItâs my freedom to invite friends to my house. If you donât like it, then please leave. And this is my motherâs house, not yours.â
âWhat did you just say?â The white-haired old lady said in disbelief, âThe heavens have been overturned! You dare talk to me like that! You little satanâs b*stard. I think youâre itching for a beating!â
As she spoke, she pulled out a bundle of tightly intertwined wool needles from the messy pair of yarn on the sofa and waved it at Dorothy.
This was too much!
I subconsciously tried to stop the fight but accidentally became the scapegoat for the violence. The knitting needles werenât that thick or heavy, but they were like whips smeared with chilli water, causing me to feel a piercing pain.
These were not ordinary knitting needles!
After looking at it, I realized that the knitting needles were silver. Dorothyâs grandmother held the end tightly wrapped in wool, so she was not injured.
Dorothy anxiously checked the red burn on my arm. âSelma, are you alright? We have to go to the hospital as soon as possible. Wounds caused by silver wonât heal so easily, especially now that itâs summer!â
I didnât have the time to care about my small injuries. So instead, I looked at the crazy old woman and shouted angrily, âHow could you do this? Dorothy is your biological granddaughter, and you used silver to hit her. Do you want to kill her?!â
Dorothyâs grandmother did not take it to heart and snorted coldly in disdain, âWhat do you know? Only silver can expel the dirty witchâs blood in her body. She deserves it!â
âI think youâve gone crazy!â I was extremely angry, but I calmed down instead. âI should call the mental hospital and lock you in for treatment.â
âYou canât do this!â She roared angrily, âI have to stay and expel the filth from Dorothy!â
She looked serious, as if she really cared about her granddaughter.
