Lunch Time
Life is better with you!
Author's notes: Hey, I'm back! Enjoy!
The walk to the cafeteria is quiet, mostly because Samantha waited a little longer for the halls to be cleared out so she can walk me down there without anyone bumping into us.
Samantha isn't much of a contact person and she hates it when people get in her personal space when she doesn't know them or she doesn't feel comfortable with them yet.
She opens the double doors and walks in calmly. The white noise of chatter and laughter all around us is like listening to kids scream on a playground at McDonald's. It's so annoying for me and I'm sure it's annoying for the other tinies.
"Samantha!" Jazz call from afar. Samantha freezes mid-step and turns to Jazz who yells her name. "Over here!"
I stand up and poke my head out to see what is going on. I'm immediately slammed with the overwhelming amount of giant people walking around and sitting at their respective tables with their groups or friends.
In the midst of everything, I spot the boy Samantha was talking earlier. How do I know? He's the only one waving her over to him and Ashley at a round table in the middle of the cafeteria. Why? Why did they have to sit in the middle of the room? Whatever. I'm a small thing to see anyway and that's all that matters.
I sink back into the pocket and wait for Samantha to pull me out.
"We saved you a seat," Ashley adds patting an empty seat next to her.
Samantha gladly sets her sack of lunch down and slides in next to her friend. "Thanks, how thoughtful."
"Just repaying the favor," Ashley says.
"So," Jazz drags out the 'o'. "When do I get to meet her?" He asks with curiosity.
"You haven't met Caesar yet?" Ashley gasps baffled. "He hasn't met her yet? You haven't met her?" of course, she's being fake the whole thing.
"Caesar? You named her Caesar?" Jazz then begins chuckles. "Why'd you give her a dumb name like that?"
Dumb name?! I push open the pocket flap again and yell at the boy for being rude and judgmental. "That's my name, you damn chump!" Gods and Samantha told me this guy is a gentle giant. More like a giant ass!
Samantha sighs and pinches of her nose. "One normal introduction. Just one. Is that too hard to ask?"
"When you have a tiny with a unique personality like Caesar's that is impossible to ask for." Ashley chimes in giving Samantha a smug smile. "Hey, Caesar. Long time no see. How's the leg doing for you?"
I'll take what I can get from Ashley. "Yeah, long time no see," I grumble. "And the leg is still broken."
"That's a shame." Yeah, a real shame. I feel the outcry of emotions you're pouring out Ashley. "But I bet the ride was nice, hm?" The redhead wiggles her brows mischievously.
There's no way Ashley is going to let that die any time soon. She'll treasure and cherish it for the rest of her high school life, beating it to a pulp, getting as much embarrassment as she can out of it.
"No, we're not going to talk about that right now. What we're doing right now is introducing this crazy unusual tiny to Jazz." Samantha, the voice of reason, interjects.
I look up at Samantha, brows pinched together. "I don't know if that's an insult or a compliment."
"It's a little bit of both." Ashley throws in her opinion.
Eh, I can deal with that.
Fingers come down and pluck me out of the pocket like a claw dropping down to claim a prize from the claw machine. I've never felt so overwhelmed with the large school lunchroom. All the giants just sitting around makes me unsure what they'll do and I'm terrified of what they could do. Anyone of them could just come over snatch me away. It'd be kidnapping all over again and I can't go through that once more.
Samantha sets me down on her open palm. Not good. I don't feel good. Not good, not good, not good! I think I'm going to have a heart attack.
Ashley's smile morphs into concern when she sees how stressed I look. "Hey, are you okay, Caesar? You don't look so good."
I've become short-breathed and my heart is pounding it's way out of my chest, trying to make an escape. My head thumps like a drum and I can't focus, my brain is swimming too fast.
"F...fuck, I can't do this right now." I whimper helplessly, gripping my head.
"Caesar?" Samantha's worrisome voice washes over my body.
I curl up into a ball, squeezing my eyes shut tight like I have soap in them or something. Pathetic whimpers tremble on my lips as I try to make myself as small as I can.
"What's wrong with her?" Jazz asks. The dude sounds more bored than concerned.
"I don't know," Samantha responds. "She's never acted this way before."
"Maybe she's overwhelmed by everything." Ashley guesses with not much confidence.
"But that makes no sense. We took her shopping before. She was surrounded by tons of people."
"She wasn't out and open to everyone around us though."
Samantha sucks in some air but stops when realizing she could be wrong. "Maybe, but what would I do?"
"Leave the room."
Samantha stands up and I'm encased in darkness. I'm too terrified to look up or even come out of my little ball.
The door opens up then closes seconds later and the loud talk is muffled by a few notches. It still doesn't help me though. Nothing seems to help at all.
"Caesar?" Samantha speaks up again when she's farther away from the lunch room. "Are you okay? what's wrong?"
"I...I can't breathe." I say in a raspy tone.
The darkness disappears when Samantha opens her hands up for the light to pour in. I still am in a tight ball with my eyes closed.
"It's not good to be crunched and curled up in a ball, Caesar." Ashley voices her opinion. She must have followed Samantha out when she got up to leave. "Relax your body, put your hands on your head to open your lungs and take a couple of deep breaths."
When did Ashley become a doctor?
I don't have time to react or think when fingers come to peal me open like an orange. I simply panic more, terrified of being exposed. I feel like I'm going insane. The mix of emotions is so overwhelming it makes me break down crying.
"Ashley!" Samantha yelps, yanking me away from the fingers. "What did you do?!"
"Nothing," Ashley responds defensively. "She's having a panic attack, Samantha. She needs to stay relaxed and breathe evenly."
I feel sick in the head. Why am I so dizzy? I want to pass out so bad, but I can't. I force myself to sit up but two fingers push me flat on my back.
"You need to lay down, Caesar. Standing or sitting up will make you dizzy and sick." Ashley explains.
"Okay..." I whimper effortlessly.
There's a long pause of silence. If you have Super-man's hearing then you can the weak raspy breaths I suck in and push out at an even pace. I swallow the small lump that's formed in my throat and wipe my tears away.
My stomach still feeling squeamish as well as my head swimming in slow motion like its in slime or something.
I feel my body being pushed against the g-force while being lifted up to Samantha's face.
"Are you okay?"
I crane my neck pushing my chin up towards the sky and glare at the brunette. "What do you think?" I growl.
Samantha bites her bottom lip and looks away, muttering an apology to me.
"Chill out Caesar."Â Ashley cuts in defending her friend. "Samantha is just trying to look out for you."
A deep scowl embeds it's on my face. "Whatever."
"You act like a twelve-year-old sometimes," Ashley adds.
"You act like a complete jerk." I shoot back.
Ashley scoffs and crosses her arms. "You even got comebacks like a twelve-year-old."
I sit up fast, "You have no idea..." My head becomes dizzy again and I force myself to lay back down.
"What ideas do I not have?"
"Stop it you two." Samantha finally cuts in to shut the bickering down.
Ashley glares down at me, a frown on her face before looking up at Samantha with a softer look. At this point, I don't care anymore. I feel sick and I just want to go home.
"Ashley, no one wants to hear you two argue," Samantha says. "Can you go get my lunch from the table. I'll eat in the hall."
Ashley frowns, unsure if she likes that idea. "Are you sure about that?"
"Well if Caesar reacts to a large group of people like that then I don't want it to happen again."
Ashley rolls her eyes and turns on her heal. "Everything is always about Caesar."
Samantha opens her mouth but Ashley has already walked away.
"I get a feeling she doesn't like me that much," I speak up.
"She's not having the best day," Samantha informs me.
Neither am I.
