Chapter 16

Hide and Seek

Life is better with you!

Samantha didn't plan on Ashley to sleepover. It's more like Ashley invited herself to sleepover and Samantha didn't want to say no to her best friend and here we are, back on Samantha's bed talking about drama and the new school year that's coming quickly.

It's kind of nerve-racking to be out of school for so long and then be thrown right back into it without warning. Doesn't that sound wonderful?

"Michel keeps sending me flirty texts and emojis likes hearts and kissy faces," Ashley explains with a distaste for the man. "Can't he get a hint that I don't want to date. I say no all the time and he still thinks it means 'maybe'. No means no and that's what I mean, you know."

Samantha shakes her head. "Not really."

Ashley sighs in response. "Well, at least you're listening. What about you, Caesar, have you ever had someone try and chase you down?"

I think for a moment then shrugged. "Not that I can remember. I'm dense when it comes to dating sometimes."

Ashley hides her snickers behind a hand. "We've noticed."

Samantha swats her friend's arm. "She's trying, okay."

I shake my head and lay back on the comfortable pillow, crossing my arms, and watching the two girls continue to talk. It's a nice noise for me.

My eyes grow heavy in an instant. Why the hell am I so tired? I shake myself, trying to keep the energy flowing in my body, but it's so hard.

I yawn loudly and don't hide it. (No discrimination to yawning). I have no idea what has gotten into me. Maybe I didn't get the best sleep, because this will be the second time I'm going to fall asleep.

"How are you tired already?" Samantha asks me. A brow is raised while she looks down on me. "It's nowhere near night time. We have, at least, four hours away until the sun sets."

"Yeah, and we haven't even done anything," Ashley adds. "We haven't started a single game yet."

Samantha's face lights up. "Hey, if we start a game maybe it'll keep you awake."

"Or make me fall asleep faster," I said halfheartedly, sitting up and rubbing the sleep from my eyes. "For some reason, I'm super tired and it's kind of been like that all day."

"That's probably my fault," Samantha says. "I did wake you up in the middle of the night after all."

Yeah, can't forget this morning. It was almost a train wreck for both of us. To be completely honest, it wasn't so bad. Sam and I shared a few cute and sweet moments together. Again, not a complete train wreck, besides almost being crushed to death.

"I bet that was fun," Ashley comments, most likely suggesting something.

"Eh," I shrug, not caring too much. It was an experience, that's for sure.

"So," Samantha leans against the baseboard of her bed. "What should we play?"

Ashley lays down on her stomach, propping her head up with her hands. "I don't care as long as it's fun!"

Samantha then turns to me. "What do you want to play?"

"I don't care," I say.

Samantha throws her hands up in the air, exclaiming loudly. "Two you are no help!"

Ashley and I make eye contact through side-eye glancing then we look back at Samantha. "What do you want to do then, Samantha?" Ashley says flatly.

Samantha opens her mouth to answer, but nothing comes out. "Uh..." Ashley smirks watching her friend struggle. "Okay, so what if I don't know what to do either! It's not like you guys are coming up with any ideas!"

"It's your house. You're the hostess!" Ashley counter-argues.

A pouty-like look crosses Samantha's face as she slouches against the baseboard, crossing her arms and huffs.

I snort. It's like free tv, but it's in real life and up close.

Samantha and Ashley snap their attention to me."What's so funny?" Both giantesses ask with some bite in their tone.

I try and sink into the pillow to hide from the harsh glaring. Both of them look intimating as hell and it's making me a little nervous.

"N-nothing."

Both turn their attention away, going back to try and figure out what to do for the next handful of hours before passing out for the night.

I breathe out a sigh of relief, happy to know that their attention isn't on me anymore. Giants can be scary, but not as scary as giantesses.

"We could play video games," Ashley says.

"I'm not good at video games, plus Caesar wouldn't be able to play with us." Samantha counters.

The two go back and forth continuing to figure out a plan to play games or try and entertain ourselves. Video games, board games, card games, guessing games. Why is it so hard for these people to pick a game and play it.

"Hide and seek." Someone finally says with full confidence and consideration.

There's a pause of silence. No one objects to the game, but no one agrees.

"What do you guys think," Ashley says.

"I don't mind." Samantha throws in her opinion before asking me for mine. "What do you think, Caesar?"

I shrug. "Sure."

"Sweet! Then Caesar and I will hide while you count!" Ashley hops up from the bed and holds out a hand for me to climb onto.

I eye her hesitantly. Ashely rolls her eyes. "Oh, come on I'm not that bad."

Samantha pushes me forward which stiffens me up. "Go on. I'll be counting."

I sigh and clamber onto the hand. It's warm and soft like usual, but it's not as smooth as Samantha's hands.

"When we walk out, you can start counting to twenty-five," Ashley says while walking out the door.

She strides down the hall to the steps. I can hear Samantha counting loudly from her room.

Ashley stops at the base of the steps and whispers a plan to me. "I'm going to hide downstairs. You find somewhere to hide upstairs, got it?"

I nod, showing her that I understand.

Ashley sets me down at the base of the steps before stomping down to the main floor. She probably being loud on purpose. Maybe to draw Samantha downstairs? I don't know the full rules of Hide and Seek, but they're pretty self-explanatory. One counts and the others hide. When time is up, the seeker tries to find the hiders.

Now, I know the seeker wins if they find everyone who is hiding, but I don't know how the hiders win. Some people play with time and others play until the last person is found then they are the seeker. No one specified what version we are playing!

"15... 16... 17..."

Oh, shit! I only got eight seconds to hide!

My heart jumps into high gear and I run as fast as I can in any other direction other than Samantha's room to hide. The problem is all of the doors are shut and I don't think I can fit under any of them.

"20... 21... 22..."

Shit! Shit! Shit! I hide behind the leg of a table that stands close to the stairs. This is the worst hiding spot on earth!

"25! Ready or not here I come!" Samantha announces loud enough for every butler and maid to hear. I don't know if she's doing that for me or for Ashley. I'm sure we both heard it anyway.

The ground shakes like thunder. It makes my insides vibrate. My heart pounds against my rib cage. I hug the leg of the table, why am I so scared? It's just hide and seek with no repercussions, right? Right?

The steps grow louder and louder. I hug the leg even tighter when the feet stomp past, heading straight for the stairs. Samantha doesn't look back and keeps walking. I finally breathe again when the top of her head disappears.

I got to find a better hiding spot. I tell myself immediately, letting go of the leg to the table and run to Samantha's room. There's definitely a bunch of places to hide in there.

I can hide under the bed, the nightstand, the dresser, in the closet. This place is a hiding treasure trove. Now, I need to pick a place to hide.

The nightstand is the closest for me and I go for it. Slipping under the large hollow box to hide from the giantess who is looking for me. It feels more like a hunt and I'm the prey like Samantha is the predator.

Thinking about the connection makes me somewhat scared to be found. I can picture it in my head. It's like one of those old cartoons where the cat tries his hardest to catch the little mouse, but it's no use. The mouse never gets caught. I think that's supposed to make me feel better, but it doesn't really do much of anything except distract me from the game.

An echoing yell fills the house. Samantha must have found Ashley downstairs. I hope she doesn't rat me out, but there's this odd feeling that she will.

A suspicious and nerve-racking silence fills the house for a minute or so. Then a squeak of the floorboard sends me on edge. Gods, why did I agree to this?! It's like a horror show in the comfort of my girlfriend's home.

Wait. Did I think of Samantha as a girlfriend!? I think the stress of hide and seek is getting to me. Is that what we're called? We haven't done anything girlfriend worthy, except for a few cuddly moments and some kisses from Samantha. She just talked about how she feels about me and we haven't agreed to that title.

"Found you!" Samantha's booming voice knocks me out of thought. For a split second, I see her golden brown eyes glow like amber in the dark, similar to a cat.

I squeak like a little mouse and dive out of the way of the fingers that reach for me like branches from trees that reach for the sky. Who knew hide and seek would be so terrifying. I guess when you're only two inches tall and playing with a giantess it's scary. Does anyone else get scared when they play?

I run away from Samantha, taking cover under the bed.

"She's going the other way!" Samantha announces.

"Don't worry! I got her!" Ashley responds with glee.

Another hand reaches for me but misses by mere inches in my standards. I move into another direction, aiming for the middle of the bed.

Ashley and Samantha are double teaming me now. The odds are so not in my favor right now.

Both girls reach for the middle. I accept my fate and wait to be grabbed. It doesn't come as quick as I thought, though. Samantha and Ashley are inches off from being in reach and I think it's the most hilarious thing in the world.

I actually keel over, rolling on my back, as I release a gut burster watching the two giantesses struggle grab me.

Ashley huffs obnoxiously while Samantha whines and whimpers, still not giving up. "Are you serious."

I struggle to speaks between bursts of laughter. "I... I can't believe this! You... You two... are so... Close!"

"This is so not fair," Ashley complains. "You're so small, of course, you'd find the best spot to hide."

"Well," I say finally getting a grip on things. "If you didn't leave me up here, I would have been found sooner."

"If I were a little smaller," Ashley grunts, stretching her arm out as far as she can. "Then I'd be able to reach you."

I back up, seeing that she's gained an inch or two. "Why don't you squeeze on under?"

A cheeky grin splits the redheads face almost in half. "Someone else is already doing that."

As if on queue, I'm snatched up from behind. "G-got you." Samantha winces.

I'd clap if I could, but my hands are pinned to my sides. Ashley tricked me while Samantha could get the jump. It's the easiest plan someone could ever think of and I fell for it.

Ashley stands up and makes her way to the other side where Samantha is. "Okay, What should we play now?"

Samantha tries to back out from under the bed, but for some reason, she can't go anywhere. She bites her lip before speaking up. "I think I'm stuck."

There is a moment of silence for Samantha.

"Are you serious?" Ashley asks skeptically as if she doesn't believe her friend.

"I'm serious!" Samantha squeaks, wiggling again. She's not making any progress.

Ashley begins to laugh when she sees her friend struggle. "I can't believe that."

I squirm out of my own captivety. "So you're stuck?"

Samantha nods. "Yeah, I'm stuck."

"Hold on, I'll get you guys out," Ashley says then adds to that quickly. "Don't get all lovey-dovy, got it."

Samantha groans, letting her head sag. "How did we ever become friends."
