Chapter 47: Let's Hear It for the Boy
Topping the Enemy (Werewolf Story)
Spencer
I am floored.
I knew I had a hot mate. I have eyes. I just didn't think I was mated to a sex god. Hot damn! That was incredible!
My legs are shaking right now. I didn't even know I was such a hungry bottom. *chuckle*
I thought Ares would be like one and done, then roll on the bed to sleep. But he really surprised me. Of course, I knew he had experience. I already imagined he was good in the sack. This is not exactly surprising, but I didn't think it would be THIS good!
I mean... the stamina to go on and on...
I am thoroughly impressed by him. Legitimately gobsmacked by his intense vigor, even for a 22 years old. Just to think he spent 6 hours in wolf form patrolling the territory. I'd be knackered after that, but not my mate. He really went for it.
And then some.
And then some more.
Around 2 a.m., I collapsed exhausted on the bed. Ares did the same, though he put on a brave face saying he could go on. But I was so tired and sleepy, I feared I wouldn't wake up in time for breakfast.
The problem is that we forgot to buy food, so both of us were starving by morning. In fact, we went to sleep already hungry. I am not much of a snacker, so I don't keep food in my room except for some potato chips - but I was out of those anyway.
Without any other alternative, my alarm clock which was previously set for 8 a.m. did its job and we both woke up drowsy asleep.
"Oh thank Goddess I don't have to work today or I'd have to call in a replacement for me." Ares said, yawning lazily.
"Yeah, if you had to work today then last night would've been a bad idea." I snickered, glancing at my mate lying beside me on the bed.
Ares laughed at this, then he kissed me. I melted under his luscious lips. I didn't even care that we hadn't brushed our teeth yet. Actually, I have to get him a toothbrush since this sleepover was totally improvised.
We took a quick shower to wake up, got dressed, and went downstairs for breakfast. Though it's not normal to bring "guests" to the meals here, I am hoping they won't mind this time.
Goddess only knows how hungry Ares is after that marathon last night.
"Oh, my Goddess!" Landon gasped in shock at seeing both of us walking towards the dining room - bearing our fresh mate marks. Harry elbowed him on the side.
"Keep it down, Lan! You don't need to announce it to the whole pack!" He reprimanded him, uncomfortable by the scene.
Ares and I blushed as we approached them.
"Good morning, Alpha. Good morning, Harry. Would it be okay if Ares had breakfast with us? He's very hungry." I asked politely and the Alpha couple snorted at this. I bowed my head first, naturally. So did Ares.
They both laughed out loud for a minute while Ares and I blushed even harder.
"Yes, I'm sure he's very hungry..." Landon snickered with a naughty grin.
"Of course, he is welcome to share our breakfast. Please make yourself at home, Ares." Harry said, trying to speak in a serious tone.
We walked in to find the Barnetts already sat and ready. We all greeted them as we entered the dining room.
"Forgive the intrusion, Luna. I promise to not take much of your food." Ares told Felicia, still blushing.
"You're at home, Ares. Eat whatever you want. What is mine is yours." She replied with a courteous smile.
We served ourselves some food and I needed to be stuffed. Just not in the same way I was last night. *chuckle*
"You look like you haven't slept all night!" Landon told Ares with a naughty grin.
"So do you, Alpha. What's your excuse?" He shot back in a snarky tone.
"Probably the same as yours." Clark interjected, holding back a laugh.
"Congratulations, my friend. I'm very happy for you." Harry told me with a loving gaze.
"Thanks, Harry. I could barely believe I got another mate, but it's official. There's no turning back now." I said, still reeling from the recent events.
"Definitely not. You're mine forever." Ares stated in a firm tone and I gulped awkwardly. Not because I didn't want to be his, but mainly because of the audience.
"Congratulations, Ares. I understand how much this means to you and I wish you all the joy in the world that only a mate can bring to your life." Felicia spoke with a content smile.
"Thank you, Luna. It's not lost on me that if it weren't for you, I wouldn't have come to Harry's birthday dinner and therefore wouldn't have met my mate. You have always held a special place in my heart and I'm forever in your debt." He told her, feeling appreciative.
Wow. I didn't know that. What a coincidence! When they say the Goddess will find a way to get you mated, this is probably what they mean by that. I am so mesmerized by this turn of events.
"It was my pleasure, sweetie." She smiled at him. That woman is a saint.
We ate our breakfast hungrily. I mean, Ares literally cleaned his plate. Thank heavens they cook good, bountiful food here. As we finish up, Felicia walks out with her youngest. Clark goes back to his room.
"I'm guessing you're off today." Landon told Ares with a mischievous grin.
"Yeah, I am. I'm not in any condition to patrol today. Or even to train." He replied, sincerely. He looks exhausted and underslept, as do I.
Landon and Harry laughed at his honest response. I glared at them.
"Stop laughing! Don't think I didn't notice the bags under your eyes. I know you two stayed up till late last night too!" I accused them, peeved.
"I plead the fifth." Landon said, jokingly. Harry laughed at this.
"What are the plans for your Saturday off?" Harry asked me, curiously.
"Sleep until it's time for lunch." I replied without missing a beat.
He snorted once again as Ares and I got up from the table to walk back to my room.
"See you later, guys." Ares said goodbye to them.
"Have a good sleep!" Landon snickered as if they weren't going to do the exact same thing. *eye roll*
Once we were back in my bedroom, I went to the bathroom to brush my teeth again. Ares did the same with the toothbrush I had gotten him last night.
Then we collapsed on the bed and drifted off to sleep. We were still pretty tired and very sleepy. We managed to take a power nap until 11 o'clock.
Waking up feeling much more relaxed and refreshed, I kissed my mate to wake him up too. But I wasn't prepared for the aftermath.
Ares rolled over on top of me, towering my body with his own, kissing me with purpose.
The tall muscled warrior showered me with kisses, already taking advantage of the fact that we slept with no shirt on.
His tongue found its way to my mate mark and my eyes already glowed in lust for him. Hot damn! I am so glad I was smart enough to keep some condoms with me because this mate of mine is gonna be a handful. I can already tell...
AN HOUR LATER.
Ares and I rushed downstairs to the dining hall, hurrying to not be late for lunch. Especially after that speech from Felicia yesterday, I don't want to be caught on that woman's bad side.
Though I highly doubt she'd hold off on serving the food on my account. Not that I'd want her to anyway.
"Sorry that we're late." I apologized, entering the room where the maid was just about to start serving the food.
"You aren't." Harry replied with a pleased smile.
"I am gonna start charging you extra for your mate's food, Spencer." Landon snickered.
"Of course, Alpha. Please tell me how much it is and I'll Venmo you." I replied promptly. Felicia and Harry both glared at him for the supposed anecdote.
"That was a joke, Spencer. And even so, I have no idea of the cost." Landon was mortified I took it seriously.
"Don't mind him, Spence. I am glad Ares could join us today." Harry told me, sideways glaring at his mate.
"I'll stop by Kyle's mate's office and check in with her for what I owe for today. Don't worry, Alpha." Ares spoke in a firm tone.
"I wasn't trying to collect money from you, Ares. Genuinely, I meant it as a joke!" Landon defended himself, taken aback.
"No, it's fine. I shouldn't impose on you guys. That's not how it works." He insisted, ever so humbly.
The room took an awkward turn and the vibe was off for some time while everyone ate quietly, except for Ella who talked to her mother about a playdate for later.
"So, where is the date tonight? Or are you going to continue what you did yesterday?" Harry asked me with a naughty grin.
"We haven't discussed it yet, actually. But we're probably going out to celebrate our mating. Right, Ares?" I replied, turning to my mate who was surprised by this.
"Sure, I'd love to. I just need to stop by my house to change clothes as I've been wearing this since yesterday." Ares responded, awkwardly. Harry, Landon, and Felicia all laughed at his remark.
After lunch, Ares did stop by Lourdes' office [the pack secretary] and settled his debt for the two meals. I told him I'd be glad to put them on my account, but he wouldn't have it. He is a true gentleman.
He drove back to his house while I waited for him inside my room. I took the opportunity to clean up since we left it a mess after all our adventures last night - and this morning.
When he returned, he told me to give notice to the kitchen that I'd be dining out tonight. He was taking me for a fancy meal at his favorite restaurant and I was excited at the prospect.
It's certainly better than going to a bar, though I wouldn't have a problem with that. It's not exactly like we are swimming in options here in this small town.
Much to my surprise, it was an Italian restaurant - my favorite type, by far.
The cantina had a variety of wines and pastas to go along. He had already called ahead and pre-selected two bottles of wine for us. I was legitimately impressed by him. I am not much of a wine person, but I won't say no to a glass or two.
The food was simply fantastic. The wine was so good that he ordered another bottle to go. We stretched out our meal to enjoy each other, talk, and celebrate our marking.
I was already tipsy from the wine when I remembered how we got to the restaurant and asked him how we'd return home. He told me I shouldn't worry about it, he already thought about that.
What a night to remember! I am completely in awe of my mate...
He had a friend of his drive us back to the pack house - one who conveniently lives there, by the way. I am thoroughly impressed by this. Once we got inside the room, we continued to drink by opening the bottle we had brought home.
He even stopped by the kitchen to grab us a couple of wine glasses and a corkscrew, of course.
"Wow. Tonight was simply incredible. I am in awe of you." I complimented him, raising a glass. I have been impressed by him since yesterday, as a matter of fact.
"I am in awe of you, mate. I am inspired by you, making me wanna step up my game every single day. Thank you for making me happy as I've never been before." He replied and I couldn't help the tears from falling down my face. I got emotional at his words.
"You are the one making me happy when I never thought I'd be again. Or even deserved to be." I spoke, deeply emotional. My voice was wrought with a sense of joy and relief for this second chance at happiness that I never thought I'd have after Kevin.
Ares hugged me - carefully not to drop the glass - and kissed my cheek wet with tears.
"You deserve happiness and I can't tell you how much joy you brought into my life simply by accepting me into yours. You are the mate I begged the Goddess to give me and the mate I had pretty much given up hope I would get." He told me, (very) emotionally.
We gobbled a glass of wine as we dealt with our emotions that were all over the place tonight. It's kind of funny how I can feel what he is feeling right now. As I am sure he can sense the same of me.
After a moment and more glasses of wine, we lay in bed together and relished in each other's company. I entangled myself in his warm and strong embrace, feeling completely fulfilled.
Ares David Saunders, thank you for coming into my life. You are a blessing from the Goddess and I am forever grateful for you.
Now if you please excuse me, there is a hot man in my bed and the night is still young...
A|N: Honestly, I added tears to [after] Ares' speech because I was crying myself to his words.
I know, right? What can I say...
I had a different song in mind when I started writing this chapter, but it completely wrote itself out like this. It happens more often than I'd like.
I start writing a storyline, then it completely shifts focus and the song I had envisioned doesn't pan out. It explains why some songs end up not fitting in previous books of mine, then it miraculously finds itself in another one - if I remember it.
But you'll never catch me putting a song in a chapter that doesn't relate to it. Rules are rules. Even if I created them myself. LoL
Sometimes I think I write too much positivity and people find a book interesting because of the drama it comes with. I do too, but I can only go where the story leads me.
But if you're here for the drama, please stick around. The next chapter comes with a heartbreak. It's conveniently titled "What hurts the most". Another chapter whose [song] title I had to change by the end of it.
Love,
Léo.
