Blood of the Dragon[on Hold]
Dragonstone
Daemons chambers
Cerelle woke up after having sex with her husband. She walked to find him reading and rolled her eyes.
"Perhaps you should come to bed?" Cerelle suggested.
"Why? You already got what you wanted, and I'm doing what I want." Daemon said as he was reading.
"You wanted to see your nephew and now you're here. The least you can do is be a husband to your wife." Cerelle said.
"So that I can hear how you long for home again?" Daemon inquired.
"I have no home because I chose you." Cerelle reminded him. When Jason Lannister found out his daughter was marrying Daemon, his anger was limitless. He wanted to disown her, but his brother Tyland reminded him that it would be an insult to the royal family.
"I didn't ask you to." Daemon said.
"You didn't have to. I know that you don't love me, but you're good at fucking and you gave me two children whom I love very much." Cerelle said.
"Well, you did give me a son, you're not so bad yourself." Daemon said.
Cerelle smiled at Daemon and walked away. She then removed her robe. "Are you coming?" She asked.
Daemon stared at his wife's naked body and licked his lips. A few seconds later he joined her in bed and they had sex
Rhaegons chambers
"I don't understand." Rhaenyra said. She was still in shock as to what Rhaegon was telling her.
Rhaegon sighed. "I...died, but something brought me back."
"What do you mean?" Laena asked.
"All I know is a name. Moribund. He...or it brought me back from death." Rhaegon said.
"This is too much." Rhaenyra said. "I...we lost you and you went to the second Stepstones war knowing about this...Moribund?" Rhaenyra spat.
"I had to go. You both know this." Rhaegon pointed out.
"No you didn't!" Laena yelled. "We needed you. Our children needed you, and you left us!"
"I know, but the realm is safer now. I've ensured it." Rhaegon said. "I didn't want to tell either of you because I knew that it would only make you worry more."
"Who else knows...about you dying?" Rhaenyra asked.
"Daemon, Lord Corlys, Laenor and father. Some knights that fought in the first war." Rhaegon said. "They only know because they saw me rise up from the dead."
"I'm... I don't know what to say." Laena said.
"I understand that you're both angry, but I kept this secret for a reason." Rhaegon stated.
Rhaenyra sighed. "Whatever happened, I need you to understand that I would never be too angry at you."
"Neither would I." Laena said. "You did what you to do for our family and for the realm."
"Sometimes I wish that I wasn't named heir, but Moribund told me that I'm needed for the realm. You both understand that these...Greens want power and we cannot let them have it. They will destroy the house of the dragon and it will result in our deaths and that of our children." Rhaegon said
"Agreed. Just...I want you to be more open with us." Rhaenyra said.
Rhaegon sighed. "There's one other thing that I have to tell you, but I can only tell you once I know what it truly means."
"We will wait for you then." Laena said.
Kings Landing
Birthing chambers
5 months later
"I still don't see it." Rhaegon said.
"After 7 children it still surprises me that you cannot see that they have your eyes." Rhaenyra said.
"Well you have perfect eyes, and I'm glad our children share it now." Laena said.
Just then the doors burst open and king Viserys walked through them. "I've just heard the news. My heir has an heir. The king laughed. What a happy day this is."
"Indeed father." Rhaegon smiled. "Would you like to hold him?"
"Yes...yes while I still have one arm." The king chuckled. Rhaegon then handed his son to his father. "What will you name him?" Viserys asked.
"Laena and I have spoken and we decided to name him Corwyn." Rhaegon said.
"After my father?" They heard Corlys' voice.
"My lord. I happy you made it." Rhaegon said. He then saw Rhaenys. "Princess, are you well?"
"I am. My daughter is healthy and I can see my grandchildren." Rhaenys happily stated.
"Yes well, I would never let my children stray from their family or have my wife away from her parents and brother." Rhaegon said.
"I thank you, my prince." Rhaenys said.
"So about his name. Thank you, prince Rhaegon. You honor me and my house." Corlys said.
"Well he is the king and sea snakes grandson. The least I could do is give him a Velaryon name while he already has his Targaryen name." Rhaegon pointed out.
"How are you feeling, daughter?" Rhaenys asked Laena.
"I'm happy mother. I could not have asked for a better match." Laena said. She looked at her husband. "I love him so much." She smiled.
"As long as you're happy, my girl." Rhaenys said. Unfortunately the queen who never was already suspected that Jace, Visenya and Luke weren't her grandchildren, but Rhaegons illegitimate children by Rhaenyra. She'd never dare to say this to the king, but she wanted to talk to her husband about it.
"If all you could stay here for a moment. I have to take Corwyn with me." Rhaegon said.
"Where to?" Rhaenys asked with concern.
"It's alright, mother. Rhaegon does this with all his children." Laena said. Corwyn will be safe.
Training yard
The training yard was empty and Rhaegon held his newborn son in his arms.
"You will be different. Sometimes youâll feel like an outcast, but youâll never be alone. You will make my strength your own. You will see my life through your eyes, as your life will be seen through mine. The son becomes the father, and the father becomes the son." Once again Rhaegon teared up. He remembers saying this to his first born son and all his children after. He didn't care if they were true-born or illegitimate. He loved them all.
"You're doing your thing again?" Harwin asked.
Rhaegon wiped his tears and turned to face his best friend. "Who told you that I was here?"
"No one. I just know you well enough." Harwin said. Rhaegon spotted his wife's handmaiden and called her. He then gave Corwyn to her and instructed the handmaiden to give him time his mother. "I take it you still haven't told Rhaenyra and Laena your secret?"
"They know about me dying and coming back to life." Rhaegon said. "I already told them.:
"And the other secret?" Harwin asked.
"You swore you'd never talk about that again." Rhaegon reminded Harwin.
"You're the one with sleepless nights dreaming about dead men in winter." Harwin said.
"Well I haven't told them yet." Rhaegon said.
"Do you plan to?" Harwin asked.
"I don't know." Rhaegon said.
"Well on a happier note. I wanted to give you this." Harwin presented a wooden sword to Rhaegon. "It's for your son. I carved it myself"
Rhaegon looked at the sword and saw the sigil of House Strong on it. The crown prince smiled. Harwin had gifts for all Rhaegons children when they were born. You're a good man, Harwin. Rhaegon said.
"Of course I am." Harwin smirked. "I am parched so can we please get a drink?"
"Of course we can." Rhaegon chuckled.
5 years later
Dragonpit
Rhaegon was covered in ash and soot. He was looking for a dragons egg for his and Rhaenyras unborn baby.
"Remind me why I was stupid enough that I decided to come with you?" Harwin asked.
"Because you're the only one stupid enough." Rhaegon chuckled. "I found one. Distract Syrax."
"You're fucking crazy." Harwin whispered.
"You're right she'll eat you alive. Wait she's Slyraks mate. I shouldn't be worried." Rhaegon said. He then casually walked to Syrax and saw his dragon Slyrak nuzzling against the She-dragon. "Congratulations to the both of you. Let's see which of them will bond with my child." Rhaegon then took the dragon egg Slyraks nuzzling assured Syrax that Rhaegon meant no harm. He then went to Harwin. "Let's go."
Birthing chambers
Rhaenyra was pushing as she felt another contraction. "Where is he?"
"He's coming." Laena said. "You have to push now." Rhaegon entered the chambers and immediately rushed to Rhaenyra. "Finally."
"I had to get the egg. Syrax laid an egg just as her rider was giving birth." Rhaegon said.
"You're here. That's all that matters." Rhaenyra said.
"And push!" The midwife urged Rhaenyra pushed and she finally felt her baby slip out of her. "A boy, princess."
"Praise the mother!" Another midwife said.
"Healthy?" Rhaenyra asked.
"Kicking like a goat, princess." The midwife said.
Rhaenyra chuckled and looked at Rhaegon. "Would you like to hold him?"
"Yes." Rhaegon said and Rhaenyra give her son to his father. Rhaegon smiled. "He's perfect."
"He has your eyes." Laena whispered.
Rhaegon chuckled. "I still don't see it."
"What will his name be?" Rhaenyra asked.
"I want to name him Baelon." Rhaegon said.
"After our grandsire?" Rhaenyra asked.
"Yes. He's a Targaryen and he should be named as one." Rhaegon said and Rhaenyra smiled.
The doors opened and Elinda Massey, Rhaenyras youngest handmaiden entered. "Princess, the queen has asked to see the child...immediately."
"Why?" Rhaenyra asked. She then looked at her brother. "I'll take him myself."
"No. You have to rest." Rhaegon said.
"I know!" Rhaenyra shouted. She then looked at her handmaidens. "Help me dress."
"No!" Rhaegon shouted. He then walked to Elinda. "If the queen wants to see the babe, she can come right here where Princess Rhaenyra will wait for her."
"My prince." Elinda bowed and left the room.
Once Rhaenyra was cleaned up and dressed, she, Rhaegon and Laena sat and looked at Baelon. "He's perfect." Rhaenyra said.
"Indeed he is, and he'll have another brother or sister soon." Laena said as she massaged her 8 month swollen belly.
"I couldn't be happier. Thank you both." Rhaegon said.
Just then Laenor entered the room. "A boy! I've just heard. Well done." He smiled. "Was it terribly painful?"
"Was it terribly...what?" Rhaegon was surprised that Laenor would even ask that.
The doors burst open and king Viserys entered with queen Alicent. "What happy news! Where is he? Where is my grandson?" Laenor handed Baelon to the king. "He's sturdy. You will make a fearsome knight. Yes you will."
"Does the babe have a name yet?" Alicent asked.
"The crown prince sugge-" Rhaenyra was cut off by Laenor.
"Joffery. He'll be called Joffery." Laenor said. Rhaenyra looked at Rhaegon and the crown prince nodded which was noticed by Alicent.
"It's unusual name for a Velaryon." Alicent said, and everyone, except the king gave awkward glances at each other.
Rhaenyra looked at Laenor and Laenor cleared his throat. "If you don't mind your grace, your daughter has exhausted herself heroically and should rest." Viserys was about to give the babe to Laenor, but Alicent took him. She then looked at the babe and as soon as the child opened his eyes she knew that this was not Laenors son.
"Find what you're looking for?" Rhaegar asked.
"Yes, my prince. He's handsome, just like his father." The queen said.
"Indeed he is." Laena said.
Rhaegar walked to Rhaenyra who was talking to their father. "Well done, my girl. I do hope the labor was easy." The king said.
"I think I called the midwife a cunt." Rhaenyra said and Rhaegon chuckled.
"Oh." Viserys said and Rhaenyra kissed her father on his cheek. The king and queen then left the room.
"I'll see you later, sister. Get some rest." Rhaegon said and also left the room.
"You don't think to consult me before you name my child?" Rhaenyra asked Laenor.
"He's our child. Is he not?" Laenor inquired.
"Only one of us was bleeding." Rhaenyra said.
Laenor sighed. "I deserve some say in the affairs of own my family."
"You haven't been interested in our affairs of late." Rhaenyra said. She then stood up and left the room. Laenor followed her.
Jace and Luke's room
Jace, Luke and Visenya were looking at the dragon egg that Rhaegon managed to get for their new brother.
"How did you manage to get this egg, uncle?" Jace asked.
"Well I asked Syrax very nicely and she gave it to me." Rhaegon said and the children chuckled.
"One day I'll go into the Dragonpit and retrieve an egg myself." Jace confidently stated.
Rhaegon laughed. "I'm sure you will.: They heard the door open and saw Rhaenyra enter with Laenor and Joffery. Even though Rhaegon was upset that Laenor named his son, he couldn't truly fault the heir to Driftmark.
Mother. Jace, Luke and Visenya ran to Rhaenyra. Look, uncle Rhaegon retrieved an egg for the babe.
"Ah. That looks like the perfect one." Rhaenyra said and Rhaegon immediately helped his sister to sit comfortably.
"You should be abed, sister." Rhaegon said.
"Yes, but I wanted to see my family." Rhaenyra said.
Rhaegon saw Laenor holding Joffery. "Might I hold him again?" He asked.
Rhaenyra loved that Rhaegon loved all his children. "The crown prince would like to hold Joffery."
"Of course." Laenor smiled and handed Joffery to Rhaegon.
"There, there, Baelon." Rhaegon whispered. "One day all the lords of the realm will fear you." He said louder and Rhaenyra chuckled.
"Father may I hold Joffery?" Luke asked.
"No, Luke. You and your brother should go to the dragonpit before they send out a search party." Laenor said and he left with the boys.
Visenya perhaps you should find Heleana, Baela and Rhaena. "I'm sure they'll be waiting for you as well." Rhaenyra said.
"Yes mother." She then walked to Rhaegon. "Might I kiss Joffery farewell?" The 9 year old girl asked.
"Of course." Rhaegon knelt and allowed Visenya to kiss Joffery on his head. She then left the room. "You'd think he'd show some respect instead of sleeping in front of the heir to the Iron Throne."
"Such insolence runs in the family, I'm afraid." Rhaenyra said and Rhaegon chuckled.
"How are you feeling?" Rhaegon asked.
"Better now." Rhaenyra said. "I'm sorry Laenor named him."
"It's alright. He's still Baelon to us. He will still have his Targaryen heritage." Rhaegon said. "It also makes it less obvious that he's my son."
Dragonpit
Aemond was tired of not having a dragon. His brother and nephews had made fun of him by presenting a pig with wings to him. Aemond walked deeper into the dragonpit he then saw Dreamfyre guarding her eggs and she was enraged. Before she could spew her flames, Rhaegon stepped in front of her.
"No!" The crown prince shouted and Dreamfyre went back to guarding her eggs. "Are you alright Aemond?"
"Y...yes." Aemond couldn't believe what he had just seen. His older brother was already seen as a legend, but to see it was something else. "How did you do that?"
"It's a dragon thing." Rhaegon smirked. Come. "Let's get you back to your mother."
Alicents chambers
Alicent was sitting with her daughter Heleana while she was studying an insect which the Hightower queen couldn't understand why.
"This one has sixty rings and two pairs of legs on each." Heleana said as the insect crawled in on her hands. "That's two hundred and forty."
"Yes, it is." Alicent acknowledged.
"It has eyes. Though...I do not believe it can be seen." Heleana said.
"And why is that so, do you think?" Alicent asked her daughter.
"It is beyond our understanding." Heleana answered.
"I suppose you're right. Some things just are." She said as she rubbed Heleana on her back and Heleana moved as if she didn't want to be touched.
The door opened to reveal Rhaegon with Prince Aemond. "Your grace."
Alicent turned to see her son covered in ash. She quickly got up. "Aemond, what have you done?" She asked him.
"He did it again." Heleana said
"After how many times you've been warned. Must I have to be confined in your chambers?!" She angrily asked.
"They made me do it." Aemond tried to explain.
"As if you need the encouragement, your obsession with those beasts goes beyond understanding." Alicent said.
"They gave me a pig!" Aemond angrily shouted.
"A what?" She asked her son
"They said they found a dragon for me." Aemond started.
"The last ring has no legs at all." Heleana said, still busy playing with her insect.
"But it was a pig." He told his mother.
"You will have a dragon one day." She assured him.
"He'll have to close an eye." Helaena said.
"I know it." Alicent said and hugged her son.
"If it would please the queen, I could take him to Dragonstone. I'm sure there's an egg waiting for him." Rhaegon suggested.
"Can I mother?" Aemond excitedly asked.
"It's a long ride from here." Alicent said.
"Laena and I were going with the children anyway. I wouldn't mind taking Aemond as well." Rhaegon said.
Alicent was trying to push her feelings for Rhaegon down, but in the past 10 years he has really been there for her children better than Viserys which made her love Rhaegon more.
"Very well, my prince." Alicent smiled at Rhaegon.
"Come Aemond, I'd like to teach you how to fly a dragon." Rhaegon said.
"How will I fly one if I don't have one?" Aemond asked.
"I never said you were going to fly, but it will be lesson nonetheless." Rhaegon said and he left the room with Aemond.
