Blood of the Dragon[on Hold]
Kings Landing
Viserys chambers
"What she did was an outrage! Embarrassment to our family!" Viserys shouted.
"Or perhaps she was provoked." Rhaegon defended.
"Unless you know why your sister acted the way she did, Rhaenyra should know better." Viserys pointed out.
Rhaegon had to hold back his laugh. "I'll talk to her, but you should tell Jason Lannister that his daughter should know her place." Rhaegon walked to the door
"Rhaegon, wait." Viserys said, and Rhaegon stopped. "I only wanted to help you. Will you not be helped?" He asked.
"You wanted to help yourself. You still believed that you had some form of control over me, but you don't." Rhaegon said.
"You have misjudged me, Rhaegon. I only want to see you content. Happy even." Viserys pointed out.
"And you think giving the lions absolute power would do that?" Rhaegon asked. "You've already given one ambitious snake free reign."
"What do you speak of?" Viserys asked.
"Otto. He won't stop until his blood is on the throne and you know this." Rhaegon spat.
"I know nothing of the sort." Viserys argued.
"Then you're truly blinded by Alicent Hightowers cunt." Rhaegon angrily stated.
"She is your queen. Show her respect." Viserys demanded.
"If I don't, you'll banish me as you did Daemon?" Rhaegon challenged.
Viserys sighed. "You have always understood that as rulers, we must marry for advantage."
"If you truly meant that you would've married Laena Velaryon!" Rhaegon snapped.
Viserys sighed in defeat. "I couldn't marry Laena Velaryon. She was a child." The king said.
"I didn't care that you remarried or that you didn't want to marry Laena. I only cared that you hurt Rhaenyra." Rhaegon said.
"Rhaegon...I'm sorry." Viserys apologized.
"I know you are, but it doesn't change what you did." Rhaegon said.
"I won't stop working for your forgiveness." Viserys said. The king then took out a letter from his pocket. "This was sent to me hours before you come home." He gave the letter to Rhaegon and the crown prince read it.
Rhaegon sighed. "I was hoping we wouldn't have to talk about this." It was the letter that confirmed that Rhaegon was dead.
"What happened to you, my son?" Viserys asked.
Rhaegon sat down as did Viserys. "We were ambushed. I didn't listen to Daemon and led 500 men to their deaths. The Crabfeeder killed a boy. A good boy. Only five and ten, and I couldn't protect him." Rhaegon remembered the fear in Edric's eyes as he died. "Craghas Drahar then killed me."
"But you're here. I don't understand." Viserys said.
"I wish I could find a better way to explain this, but something brought me back. I remember bits and pieces." Rhaegon said. "I remember two doors. I remember cold and darkness, I remember talking to someone. I don't remember his name, but I believe he brought me back."
"My son." Viserys rushed to Rhaegon and hugged him.
"I have to go to the Vale. I must talk to Edric's family." Rhaegon said. "They need to know that he died a hero."
"I understand, my son. Perhaps you will find a wife there as well." Viserys said.
"I'm not looking for a wife yet, father, but perhaps when I return, we can talk more about it." Rhaegon said and Viserys nodded.
Rhaegon left his father's room only to find Otto entering the Tower of the Hand.
"My prince." Otto bowed. "I never got the chance to congratulate you on your victory."
"Mm. I suppose you're too busy as the King's Hand." Rhaegon said.
"Yes. It is my solemn duty to serve whomever sits the Iron Throne." Otto said.
"Then I suppose you won't have any quarrels about me sitting the throne?" Rhaegon inquired.
"Not at all, my prince." Otto said.
Rhaegon smiled. "It's strange to hear you speak of duty. My grandsire spoke the same and he abided by it."
"Prince Baelon was a good man." Otto pointed out.
"Yes, he was, and just five days after he was named the hand of the king, he died. Right after he took me for a flight on his dragon. You can imagine my shock." Rhaegon said.
"I remember it, my prince." Otto stated.
"Just 5 days. Of course it was a good day for you. You were named Hand right after." Rhaegon pointed out. "How does that happen?"
"I suppose we should not question the will of the gods." Otto said.
Rhaegon walked closer to Otto. "Perhaps someone should." He said and walked away from Otto.
Rhaenyras chambers
Rhaegon entered his sisters chambers and found her reading.
"Is he angry?" Rhaenyra asked.
"He was. He's more focused on me marrying for now." Rhaegon said.
"I don't want you to marry someone else." Rhaenyra said.
"I know. I do not wish to marry someone that isn't you." Rhaegon said. Rhaenyra walked closer to Rhaegon and kissed him. They kissed with so much passion that Rhaenyra started to unbutton Rhaegons shirt. The crown prince did not stop her, and just as Rhaenyra unbutton the last button they were interrupted by a knock on the door.
"What!" Rhaegon shouted.
"The queen, my princess." Ser Criston announced from the outside.
"Fucks sake! What does she want now?" Rhaegon spat. He then started to button up his shirt.
"Come." Rhaenyra said once Rhaegon was dressed. Alicent entered the room. "Your grace." Rhaenyra greeted.
Rhaegon sighed. "Your grace." He greeted as well.
"I wanted to speak to Rhaenyra, if that were possible." Alicent said.
"I'll see you later. I have to talk to you about something of importance." Rhaegon said and left Rhaenyras chambers.
"Would you like to sit?" Rhaenyra asked the queen.
"Yes, thank you." Alicent took a seat. "I wanted to ask you if there's something going on between you and Rhaegon?"
"Why do you ask, your grace?" Rhaenyra asked.
"I...I saw something, and I do not know what to make of it." Alicent said.
"What did you see?" Rhaenyra asked.
"I saw him...he kissed you. He kissed you on your forehead." Alicent said.
"Rhaegon was thanking me for standing up to Cerelle Lannister." Rhaenyra said. "My father wanted her to marry him and Rhaegon refused. He wants to marry for love, or when he's ready."
"He does deserve happiness." Alicent pointed out.
"Yes. Yes, he does." Rhaenyra agreed.
"My apologies for making you uncomfortable. I just wanted to know." Alicent said.
"I understand. If there is nothing else, your grace. I'd like to be alone." Rhaenyra said.
"Of course." Alicent said and once the queen left Rhaenyra sighed in relief.
Brothel
Rhaegon was looking for his friend, Harwin and he found him surrounded by 3 whores and Rhaegon could tell that he was drunk.
"If your father finds you here, your fucked." Rhaegon pointed out.
"I deserve to be young." Harwin argued. :I'm sure the honorable lord Lyonel Strong had his fair share of women before my mother."
"Perhaps, but he'd still discipline you." Rhaegon said. "Come. Let's have a drink. You can even bring your companions."
"Did I mention how much I've missed you?" Harwin asked.
"Once or twice." Rhaegon smirked. They went to a tavern and started drinking. A few hours later they were still drinking.
"So what's her name?" Harwin asked.
"What do you mean?" Rhaegon inquired.
"Well usually when we go out for a drink, you always sleep with 3 if not more women. So what's the name of the woman that making you curb your impulses?" Harwin asked.
"There's no woman." Rhaegon said.
"A man then?" Harwin inquired.
Rhaegon chuckled. "No. I'm just not in the mood tonight."
"I know you, probably better than your father, which is why I know that you're lying." Harwin pointed out.
Rhaegon sighed. "I'm in love with a woman that I can't have."
"What do you mean?" Harwin asked.
"She's too good for me. I worry that I'll destroy her." Rhaegon said.
"How do you know?" Harwin asked.
"Because I know myself." Rhaegon said.
"I'm too sober for this talk." Harwin said and drank more ale.
The pair drank for most of the night until Rhaegon stumbled into Rhaenyras room, not waiting to be announced by Ser Criston.
"Rhae, are you awake?" Rhaegon slurred.
"Rhaegon?" Rhaenyra was shocked that her brother burst into her room like this.
"Let's marry." He said. "Let's go to father and tell him we're going to marry."
"Rhaegon, you're drunk." Rhaenyra said.
"I love you, Rhae, but I'm bad for you." Rhaegon started tearing up. "I don't know what to do anymore."
"It's alright, come here." Rhaenyra hugged her brother tightly.
"I only want you, Rhae. Only you." Rhaegon laid his head on Rhaenyras lap and a few minutes later he fell asleep.
The next morning Rhaegon woke up next time Rhaenyra. He didn't remember how he got to her room or when he fell asleep.
"Good morrow." Rhaenyra greeted.
"How bad was I lastnight, because I truly don't remember?" Rhaegon asked.
"You said you want us to marry." Rhaenyra said.
"Oh fuck. I'm sorry, Rhae." Rhaegon apologized.
"Don't apologize. I still love you, even after everything." Rhaenyra said.
"I want to marry you, but I have to do something first." Rhaegon said.
"What is it?" Rhaenyra asked.
"I have to go to the Vale. One of the soldiers I served with in the Stepstones. He died and his family needs to know of his bravery. I've asked Daemon to stay on Dragonstone until return. Father agreed to it. When I return I will ask father to marry you." He said.
"I love the sound of that." Rhaenyra said. She then cupped Rhaegons cheeks and kissed him. "When do you plan on leaving?"
"Today. The sooner I leave, the sooner I can get back to you." Rhaegon said. "I'll fight for us, Rhae."
"I know that you will. That's why I love you." Rhaenyra said.
"I will return, Rhae." Rhaegon said. The siblings spoke for a few hours and Rhaegon left the room.
Dragonpit
It was time for Rhaegon to leave and he was being seen off by his father, Alicent and Rhaenyra.
"Come back soon." Rhaenyra demanded.
"I will." Rhaegon hugged his sister. He then looked at his father. "Don't destroy anything while I'm gone." The king smiled at his son. Rhaegon climbed on Slyrak and flew off.
A few hours later he arrived in the Vale. He remembered when he was 11 years old he visited the Vale with his mother.
"My prince." Lady Jeyne Arryn greeted.
"My lady." Rhaegon greeted back. "Forgive me for arriving unannounced, but I had no other choice."
"Of course. Royalty is always welcome in the Vale. After all, you share Arryn blood, my prince." Jeyne said.
"Thank you, my lady." Rhaegon smiled.
"Might I ask you, why did you say that you had no choice to visit the Vale?" Jeyne asked.
Rhaegon sighed. "As you know I fought in the war of the Stepstones and a boy fought at my side. His name was Edric Stone."
"Yes. He's Ser Gerold Royce' bastard son." Jeyne said.
"I have to see his family." Rhaegon said.
"Of course. I'll summon them." Jeyne said.
"Thank you, my lady." Rhaegon said. A few minutes later Ser Gerold Royce and his mistress walked in.
"My prince." They greeted Rhaegon.
Rhaegon nodded at them. "I didn't know much about Edric, but from what I saw he was brave."
"Was?" Gerold inquired.
"He was strong and he was a warrior." Rhaegon said. "He died for me. He died for his family. I'm truly sorry for you loss."
Edric's mother went down on her knees and started crying. Ser Gerold tried to comfort her, but she shoved him off and left.
"My apologies, my prince." Ser Gerold said.
"It's alright, Ser." Rhaegon said.
"Thank you for telling us." Ser Gerold said. "If you'll excuse me." He then left as well.
"I imagine that wasn't easy." Jeyne said.
"It's harder for them." Rhaegon said. "Thank you."
"How long do you plan on staying in the Vale?" Lady Jeyne asked.
"I wasn't planning on staying longer than a week." Rhaegon said.
"You can stay longer. Perhaps a month, my prince. You could learn more about your heritage?" Lady Jeyne suggested.
Rhaegon smiled. "You're right, my lady. Perhaps it will do me some good." Rhaegon woke up in a strange place. He looked around and only saw ice and snow.
"Slyrak!" Rhaegon called out. "How did I get here?" He then saw something in the distance. As it got closer he unsheathed Blackfyre. He then saw an ice man with blue eyes. "What the fuck are you?!"
"It's what I warned you about boy." Rhaegon turned to see Moribund.
"I'm dreaming?" Rhaegon asked.
"Can we call it a dream when it's the truth?: Moribund inquired. "You might want to step aside." Rhaegon looked behind him and saw the ice man attack. He quickly dodged and started fighting back.
"Aren't you going to help me?!" Rhaegon asked Moribund.
"I can't, even if I wanted to. I can only guide you." Moribund said. Rhaegon shoved the ice man off him and slashed him. The ice man exploded into tiny blocks of ice.
"What the fuck was that?!" Rhaegon angrily asked.
"As I've said. It's what I warned you about. Oh and you're not finished yet." Rhaegon looked behind him and saw hundreds or thousands of dead men rushing to him. They over powered him and everything went black.
Rhaegon woke up drenched in sweat and breathing heavily.
"Are you alright, husband?" He heard a soft sweet voice. He turned to his left and saw Alicent laying naked in bed next to him. "Did you have another nightmare?"
"What the...why are you here?" Rhaegon asked.
"A husband usually sleeps with his wives." He heard another voice and turned to his right to see Rhaenyra.
"Wives?" Rhaegon inquired.
"Yes. You married us, remember?" Rhaenyra chuckled.
"No. No this is wrong. I... I didn't." Rhaegon denied. "Moribund! Show yourself!" Rhaegon demanded.
"Who are you calling?" Alicent asked.
"The fucker that put me here!" Rhaegon shouted.
"Be calm, my black dragon. You'll wake our children." Rhaenyra said.
"No. No. Moribund!" Rhaegon shouted again.
Suddenly Moribund was sitting on a chair in the room eating grapes. "Why do you interrupt me?: He asked.
"What is this?" Rhaegon asked while Rhaenyra and Alicent was touching hia body.
"From where I'm sitting, it looks as if your wives want to fuck you...again." Moribund smirked.
"It's not real." Rhaegon said.
"You're right and you're wrong." Moribund said. "This is one of many possible futures."
"You're saying that I'm dreaming of...the future?" Rhaegon asked.
"Only a possible future." Moribund corrected.
"Then what I saw in the North. Those monsters?" Rhaegon inquired.
"They're coming, but even I know not when." Moribund said. "This isn't the first dream you've had, Rhaegon."
"What to you mean?" Rhaegon asked.
"You've been dreaming ever since you were a boy." Moribund said.
"That's not possible. How do I not remember this?!" Rhaegon furiously asked.
"Because I erased your memories." Moribund said. "Especially after you dreamt of your mother's death."
"I saw her die?" Rhaegon asked.
"Yes." Moribund said.
"Why didn't you let me save her?!" Rhaegon angrily asked.
"Because if you saved her, you wouldn't have gone to fight in the Stepstones and if you didn't fight in the Stepstones you wouldn't have met me." Moribund said.
"That means nothing to me!" Rhaegon shouted.
"It means more than you know. As I've told you before, I can only appear when mortals are near death, but with you it's different." Moribund said. "I can see you, hear you, appear before you. Something about you is different."
"You manipulated me into letting my mother go." Rhaegon pointed out.
"I wish I was that powerful, but that was you, Rhaegon." Moribund said. "There's something coming, boy, and I believe that only you can stop it." Moribund snapped his fingers and Rhaegon shot up from his bed.
The next day it was time for Rhaegon to leave. The crown prince had been in the Vale for a month, and while he enjoyed his time here, he couldn't wait to go home.
"My prince, a letter came for you." A Valeman said. "It's from your sister, Princess Rhaenyra."
Rhaegon read the letter and was furious. Their father had Rhaenyra tour the realm to find a husband, but she said she's heading back to Kings Landing from Storms End.
"Thank you Ser." Rhaegon said. He then climbed on Slyrak and flew off.
