Chapter 12

12. A Wonderful Idea

Lies, Deceptions, And Misunderstandings

Carissa could see the fear on Kaylee's face and the stunned look on Taylor's. She also saw that some of Taylor's hair was wrapped around the barrel of the curling iron and no longer attached to his head.

"What were you thinking, girls?" yelled Carissa, before immediately realizing she had scared them even further.

She quickly bent down and checked Taylor for burns.

"She's okay. Everyone relax, it's going to be fine. No biggie, I can handle this. Craig, take them down to the to the kitchen."

Carissa held her heart for a moment before she turned and pulled the plug on the hot curling iron.

She ran into the bathroom, opening the clamp to release the hair before tossing the hot iron in the sink and then ran into the kitchen where everyone now was. She again bent down in front of Taylor, smothering him with kisses.

Carissa lifted his chin, brushed the hair off his forehead and spoke. "Let me call Virginia. She lives next door and works at my salon. She can fix it."

Carissa retrieved her phone and dialed a number.

Within ten minutes, her neighbor was at the door.

"Aren't you two looking adorable!" Virginia exclaimed as she entered the living room.

"Sit here honey and we'll fix you right up," she told Taylor, motioning to the dining room chair Carissa had just placed in the center of the room.

Taylor cautiously took a seat and Virginia wrapped a hair stylist's cape around Taylor's neck.

Looking at the damaged area, she made an assessment. "This is nothing. I burnt off a customer's hair once, too, Kaylee. It was worse than this and I'm a pro. It happens."

"She now knows hot curling irons aren't toys," said Carissa, rubbing Kaylee's back. "Right honey?"

"I just wanted her to have pretty curls like you, mommy," said Kaylee, sobbing.

"She will honey. If that's what she wants, I can do that some other time," said Virginia, wetting Taylor's hair with a spray bottle, and combing through it. "Just not tonight though. Tonight, let's fix our little oops because it's pretty late. We'll save the curls for another day."

"I tell you what, Kaylee. I promise I'll get both of you up curled up all nice and pretty, just promise your mommy you won't use my curling iron without permission ever again, okay?" Carissa lectured. "This is not a toy, girls."

"Yes, mommy," said Kaylee as she watched Virginia work on Taylor's hair.

"And never at the max temperature either, honey," Virginia added. "Hair like hers will take a curl pretty quickly, even at a much lower setting."

Virginia brushed through the front of Taylor's hair and looked over at Craig and Carissa. "Not a lot of options, Carissa. I'm going to get rid of all the mismatched lengths and split ends, too, while I'm here. She really needs a good haircut. Obviously it's been too long."

Carissa looked at Craig, who was shrugging his shoulders and nodding his head at Virginia.

She dampened the rest of his head with her spray bottle and ruggedly brushed through his hair, removing any sweaty tangles from the helmet and earlier braiding.

It didn't take long until his left eye was completely covered by his hair, but on the right there was a big gap from a section burnt off. She combed feverishly down his forehead and then quickly across his brow line, and suddenly his line of sight was crystal clear again.

He looked down, and saw strands of hair slide towards the floor as she began snipping at the left and then the right. He could see his brother looking dumbfounded as this all happened very quickly.

In no time at all she was already switching on her hairdryer and working through the damp hair with her brush.

Finally Virginia reached around Taylor, grasping a small flat iron and began gliding it through his locks as he heard them sizzle each time she squeezed and moved smoothly downward.

"How adorable she looks with bangs," commented Carissa. "Right Kaylee?"

"She so pretty," said Kaylee as Virginia sprayed Taylor's hair with a leave-in conditioner.

"I want the same cut, too, please."

"Kaylee, you sure about that?" asked Carissa, as final little precision trimmings were being done. "You've got a lot more length than Taylor, and remember how long it took to grow out the front. Plus, Virginia is just here doing me a favor."

"Mom, please," whined Kaylee.

"I'm sure it's what I want and Taylor and I will grow it all out together."

"I think that's so sweet, honey," said Virginia. "It'd be really cute on her, too mom. I really don't mind doing it for her."

"Okay I guess. I'll at least pay you for the trouble. I insist," said Carissa, shrugging her shoulders.

"Oh, it's no trouble at all," Virginia replied as Kaylee exchanged placed with Taylor.

Virginia pulled off Taylor's cape and he looked down, flabbergasted at all the trimmings on the floor, and hearing them say his cut looked cute.

To him, this didn't seem so bad, there were a few long strands on the floor, so how bad could it be? It had to be more boyish looking, right?

Carissa immediately hugged and kissed him as she seated him next to her. He reached up, feeling the ends and pulled some of it forward, trying to get a better look as Carissa pushed his hands away.

"Don't mess it up sweetie," said told him. "It'll take some getting used to, but the cut is so cute on you and makes for a perfect every day 'do'. Don't worry, we'll dress it up with some bows and frills depending on your outfit. Come on, I'll show you."

Carissa took him by the hand and led him to her room. Taylor quickly saw in the mirror, that it was even more unmistakably girly looking than he could have ever imagined.

He didn't lose as much length as he thought. He could remember his hair ever hanging so perfectly straight either, only about as low as his ears towards the front and down one side, but it got longer going around his head on the other side, coming to about two inches above his collar in the back. He was now the proud owner of a pin straight asymmetrical bob, with a simple middle part and blunt straight bangs.

His dark hair had an incredible shine.

Carissa placed a large yellow daisy hair clip above his left ear.

"See how cute this looks," Carissa asked before pulling it off and smoothing the side. "You could do headbands and show off your pretty new earrings, or decorate it with pretty bows or barrettes. I could even pull it back into an off-center pony. Or it's still long enough that I can do a little bit of those braids you love."

"I have b-bangs," stuttered Taylor, pulling at them and beginning to sob.

Pierced ears AND bangs? This can't be happening.

"How long will this take to grow? I can't have bangs. I look so...so--"

"Sweetie, I know this was not planned, but you look adorable." Carissa rubbed his back. "You can grow them out again, but right now, you look so precious, so there's no reason to rush. Come on, let's go see how Kaylee's doing."

Carissa hugged him again and smothering him in kisses before she led him back to Kaylee.

Taylor almost couldn't believe his eyes, seeing her now in the same cut. She looked so different. There was a lot more of her hair on the floor now. She had lost a good eight or ten inches of length.

when the cape came off, Kaylee was grinning from ear to ear.

Carissa snapped a few pictures of Taylor and Kaylee side by side. Virginia then hugged them, told them goodnight, and left.

Kaylee whispered in her mom's ear for a few seconds before Carissa spoke aloud.

"I think that's a wonderful idea," Carissa exclaimed, looking over at Craig. "I'm all for it, if Craig says it's okay, honey. Why don't you ask him?"

"You ask him," Kaylee shyly told her mother.

"Okay, silly."

Carissa, looked over at Craig with a wink and a grin.

"So Kaylee would like to know if you, er, I mean if Taylor could sleep over tonight? What do you say, Craig?"

He looked at Taylor, who was wiped out and had little fight left in him, then at Carissa, with her hands folded and seductively batting her lashes at him.

"Yeah, I'd say it sounds great," Craig eagerly agreed, thinking he knew what Clarissa was really

getting at.

"Good, I'll get Taylor one of Kaylee's night gowns, and while I get the girls settled in, why don't you open another bottle of wine," said Carissa taking both of the kids by the hands.

Carissa dug through Kaylee's drawers and handed Taylor a night gown. He was almost happy to take it, just so he could let the day finally end.

He took the pink and yellow silk shirt to the bathroom, stripped and pulling it over his head.

He stood at the toilet, dropping his panties and untrapping his soft little shaft. Relieving himself, he felt ready to cry when he looked down at his panties sitting below his knees, his painted toes peeking out in front.

He glanced to his left, feeling ill as he shook his head, and watched his unmistakably girly hair sway gracefully in the mirror. His eyes began to tear up at the sight.

Done relieving himself, he let the gown fall to his knees, then reached down and pulled his panties back up.

How could this have gone so far he thought as he exited the bathroom.

Carissa greeted him with a big kiss goodnight and he climbed into the white, four post, pedestal bed next to Kaylee.

As soon as Carissa turned the light off and closed the door behind her, Kaylee began talking and but Taylor barely said a word. All he wanted was to forget everything that had occurred and pass out asleep.

By the time he finally shut out Kaylee's voice enough to drift off to sleep, Taylor had hoped Craig got exactly what he wanted tonight, so they could began the process of fixing everything tomorrow.
