Chapter 8
The Sweetest Trophy Wife by Beanie
Chapter 8 Mistaken for Someone Else
Judging from Liamâs face, Gwyneth knew that she would not be able to leave without giving him an explanation. However, after five hours. of intense surgery, she did not have the strength to deal with the man.
Annoyed, she pulled up the hem of her clothes to reveal a burn mark on the side of her waist. âPlease refrain from questioning my medical knowledge. Mr. Luther. I know what a burn and a scald look like. I can even differentiate them with my eyes closed.â
Gwyneth ignored the shock on Liamâs face and continued. âIs this good enough for you? Do you see the obvious difference now? This is a burn from a fire; Elizabethâs mark is a scald due to boiling water.â She pointed to the scar on her waist when she said that.
Something flashed across Liamâs mind, and he asked, âWhen did you get that?â
âI got it when I was younger. Why? Are you interested in knowing my past. Mr. Luther?â
Gwyneth found it ridiculous that even though they were husband and wife, this was the first time she showed him her skin. She looked at
Liam and saw his eyes moving from her face to her waist, his gaze staying there. 2
Liam pursed his lips and did not question her further. Even a layman like him could distinguish the two injuries after seeing such a stark contrast. âThereâs no way itâs just a scald. I heard those painful screams during the fire. I even smelled the smell of burning fabric and skin. Did I⦠mistaken Elizabeth for someone else?â
Liam thought about how Elizabeth had acted earlier and returned to his senses. He looked at Gwyneth, and a strong premonition came over him. âHow can I be confused about something this important? That girl saved my life without caring for her own safety. I have to find
out who she is.â
Gwyneth sensed that Liam was bothered, but she did not care. âIâve given you an explanation. Can I go now?â Before the man could answer, Gwyneth walked past him, bumping his shoulders, and stood before the elevator door.
Suddenly, a thought appeared in her mind.
âMr. Luther, Iâve signed the divorce papers and saved Elizabethâs life. Can you do your part and sign them now?â
Gwyneth was clearly done with the marriage, but Liam was not.
âNo, Iâm not going to sign the papers,â he said with a firm tone. (1)
This made Gwyneth mad. âIf I remember correctly, you have been looking forward to the divorce, Liam. Yet you donât want it now? What are
you getting at?â
Liam could hear the ridicule in Gwynethâs words. He turned around to look at her, and there was a slight change in his gaze. âIf sheâs the
girl who saved meâ¦â
âGive me three months,â he said with a calm face and a slight frown. There was even a hint of sincerity in his tone of voice.
Gwyneth was taken aback by that. In all the time they had been together, she had never seen Liam display that facial expression before.
âThree months, and Iâll give you a satisfactory answer when the time is up.â Liamâs hands were covered in sweat as his heart beat faster and faster. âWeâve been together for three years, Ms. Glen. Iâm sure three months would be nothing.â 1
Because she did not want to argue and was touched by the manâs unprecedented expression, Gwyneth pursed her lips and looked at the
date. âOkay. Three months. Iâll wait for your answer.â
