Chapter 109
The Sweetest Trophy Wife by Beanie
Chapter 109 Iâll Teach Her A Lesson
No one among the trio, especially Gwyneth, anticipated this from Liam. She smiled faintly while examining Liamâs side features. She thought to herself, âNot bad, this guy can think clearly when it counts.â
Whatever Henry wanted to say, he had to swallow it. He did not try to avoid responsibility. Instead, he merely wanted to immediately say sorry to Aubrey. After all, if it were not for him, none of this would have taken place.
Henry hesitated for a second before moving past Liam and approaching Aubrey.
Aubrey felt torn when she saw Henry and struggled with her response. Silence was often the best course of action during uncertain times.
Similar to Gwyneth, Aubrey was not bothered by how she looked or what she was wearing, and she hardly ever wore makeup. Her usually rosy cheeks now appeared pallid, and coupled with the gauze on her forehead, she looked incredibly haggard.
Henry creased his brows and found it harder to voice his thoughts. He said, âDonât worry, Aubrey. Iâll take care of it and wonât let you suffer for nothing.â
After saying this, Henry gave Aubrey a long, hard look before hurriedly leaving the room.
For a brief moment, Aubrey observed Henry leaving the room before turning her attention back to the room.
The room fell into a brief silence before Gwyneth finally spoke. She looked at Liam and suggested to him. âYou should go home too. Weâve been through a lot today, but I will stay here.â
Gwynethâs voice was much softer than it had been before, perhaps out of respect for Liamâs earlier remarks.
If Liam and Aubrey had been a little closer, he would have insisted that Gwyneth went home and got some rest after being kidnapped earlier. However, it was not appropriate for him to stay behind. He decided it would be better for him to take care of the rest of the affairs instead.
Liam picked up his jacket while keeping these thoughts in mind. He nodded at Aubrey and said. âRest well.â
âThank you, Mr. Luther,â Aubrey thanked him gently with a hoarse voice.
Liam urged as he turned his attention to Gwyneth. âYou too. Donât catch a cold.â
His slight display of concern left Gwyneth momentarily stunned. By the time she snapped out of it, Liam had already left the room.
Gwyneth grumbled in her heart as she cast a glance at the closed door, âWhy does this man like to act up in front of others?â
Then Gwyneth spun around and helped Aubrey take a sip of water to soothe her throal.
Aubrey appeared to become livelier after taking a sip. She firmly grabbed Gwynethâs arm and motioned for her to sit down before starting to complain sternly, âGwynnie, what kind of person is Henryâs girlfriend? How could she attack me if she was unaware of the situation?â
She was fuming, and her forehead was throbbing in pain, she appeared ferocious and disfigured as a result of it. She cursed, âJust wait till
I recover! Iâll give that woman a lesson! Who on earth does she think she is?â
Her friendâs fiery temper was well known to Gwyneth. Given Aubreyâs recent playdates with Henry, she felt a little uneasy about the
situation despite Henryâs girlfriend being at fault.
Gwyneth consoled while combing Aubreyâs hair, âPrincess, you should concentrate on getting better. We can make plans for what to do
after you are discharged.â
This advice was useless to Aubrey if it came from other people, but Gwyneth was an exception. With just a few words, the fire that had been raging inside of Aubrey began to slowly fade.
âAhem, Gwynnieâ¦â
When Gwyneth noticed Aubreyâs awkward expression, she raised an eyebrow because she probably knew what was going to happen.
Aubrey demanded, âWill you promise that you will not disclose how I got hurt to anyone? Itâs too embarrassing.â
Gwyneth was amused and asked rhetorically. âYouâre in a hospital bed, but youâre still worried about preserving your reputation?â
âHow can I not worry? I canât ruin my reputation!â
Gwyneth submitted and said, âAlright, alright, stop moving around. You have my word.â
After quickly helping Aubrey settle down and checking to make sure no blood was oozing through the gauze on her forehead, Gwyneth exhaled in relief.
That night, Gwyneth slept on a hospital bed next to Aubrey. It was a luxurious suite, so they did not feel uncomfortable. One of them was injured, and the other had just survived a kidnapping. They slept incredibly well that night because they were both utterly exhausted.
