Chapter 108 Taking Care of Things

Nodding, Gwyneth fell bad for Aubrey. She was one of the few friends who was willing to put her life on the line. Now, her friend had ended up in the operating room due to a ridiculous misunderstanding.

The doctor explained, “Although the patient sustained a serious forehead injury and lost a significant amount of blood, her condition is not as serious as we initially thought. We have saturated the wound. There aren’t any major concerns, and she should recover with

enough rest.”

Hearing the doctor’s words made Gwyneth lightheaded, likely from too much stress. Liam noticed she could not stand still and quickly.

steadied her.

Liam asked. “Can we see her now?”

The doctor glanced at Liam and softly chuckled, “Yes, but keep in mind that she has a head injury, so please don’t stay for too long. Let

her rest.”

“Thank you, doctor,” Liam said and nodded slightly to the doctor while keeping his arm around Gwyneth’s waist.

While they waited in the corridor, Henry remained silent throughout. He felt conflicted and full of self–blame.

Aubrey was soon wheeled out of the operating room. The trio quickly followed her.

When they made their way to the ward, Gwyneth asked, “Did Aubrey ask you to contact me?”

Henry was stunned by that question. He met Gwyneth’s still–angry face when he lifted his head. Henry stated, “Yes, she asked me to call you when we were on the way to the hospital.”

Gwyneth nodded and said no more.

Since Henry spent so much time in bars and clubs, it was fair to say that he was accustomed to these kinds of situations, but things

changed when a close friend or someone he cared about experienced an incident like this.

A hint of strange emotions passed through Henry’s heart as he stared at the woman who was lying on the hospital bed with her eyes

closed.

After giving Gwyneth some instructions, the doctor and nurse left the ward.

Aubrey slowly opened her eyes when there were only a few of them left in the ward. Her vision was a little hazy, probably from the

anesthetic, but she seemed fairly sharp.

Henry became flustered when he caught Aubrey’s gaze, and he quickly came up with a reason to leave the ward. He said, “I’ll—I’ll go take care of the hospitalization procedures.”

Liam was observant, and he tactfully followed Henry outside, leaving only the two women inside the ward.

“Girl, are you trying to scare me to death?” Gwyneth reprimanded harshly and went straight to the point.

The overbearing momentum of Ms. Glen would probably intimidate other people, but Aubrey took Gwyneth’s hand slowly and sported a charming expression on her face. She said pitifully, “Gwynnie, can you stop scolding me? It hurts so much.”

Gwyneth could not stay mad. When she touched Aubrey’s cold hand, she felt a sharp pain in her heart. She pulled a chair next to the bed and asked gently. “How are you feeling? Dizzy?”

Gwyneth breathed a sigh of relief and then assumed a stern expression when Aubrey shook her head. She advised. “I don’t know how you ended up so close to Henry, but he’s not a nice guy.”

“Not a good person? Seriously?”

Aubrey gave a soft chuckle, but there were complicated emotions hidden deep within.

Gwyneth warned, “Just listen to me and stay away from him. Stop hanging out with him.”

The door opened as soon as she said this. Liam and Henry had returned.

Henry told Aubrey. “All the hospitalization procedures are done, and the doctor advised that you need to rest for a few days.”

Whatever the case, he was to blame for this incident. He was the cause of Aubrey’s injuries. When he saw someone as lively as Aubrey lying in bed with bandages around her head, he le smothered with guilt.

Henry offered. “I can stay and take care of Aubrey while she’s in the hospital.”

Before Aubrey could respond, Gwyneth outright refused him, saying, “No need.”

Gwyneth did not want the two to be together again, she would not allow them to spend time together. She could reject Henry on Aubrey’s

behalf as part of her family.

Besides Gwyneth, Liam was also a little upset with his friend. In the past, Liam would have defended Henry by speaking up, but he just quietly watched from the side.

Aubrey was lost in thought and glanced out of the window. Therefore, she did not go against Gwyneth’s decision.

Meanwhile, Henry seemed a little flustered. He turned to his friend and said, “Liam, dude, about this…”

Hearing Henry call out his name, Liam hesitated for a while before speaking up. “You need to take some responsibility for this incident.

Instead of dealing with hospital affairs, your top priority should be resolving the issue with your girlfriend.”
