RECAP
You sent him a thank you look. "Thanks, but usually that's Hopes job, for some reason I've decided to just take over." You replied, unsure of why you actually decided to continue the plan by yourself. "And I'm glad you think that, because I actually need your help with plan B." You continued.
Landon furrowed his eyebrows, his smile faltering slightly. "What's wrong with plan A?" He questioned.
You were about to answer until static from the P.A. system interrupted you. "It's party time, Stallions! Report to the gym, or else." The Necromancers voice echoed through the room.
Your breathe hitched as you realised who he was. "Oh, my God." You breathed out.
ââââ
The microphone slowly came down from the roof before landing in the hands of The Necromancer. Cheering and whistling was heard. As he grabbed the microphone, he brought it to his mouth. "Vampires, witches and werewolves. Children of all ages." Te then took off the hood of his cape. "It's the event we've all been waiting for. The... Merge!" He exclaimed, the audience booing at the Necromancer appearance.
"I thought that guy was dead." Jed mumbled to himself.
The Necromancer ignored the booing and took off the rest of his cape. "Yeah, you like the taste of cape? Eat that!" He then threw the cape into the audience. "Yeah!" He laughed. "Yeah." He exclaimed after a bit. "In the crimson corner and robe, hailing from Mystic Falls, Virginia, the former Queen of Codependency, the reigning Sultan of Siphon, Josie Saltzman!" The Necromancer exclaimed.
Just then the doors burst open, two people in capes leading Josie out like they were her body guards or something. People already booing. Confetti then erupted from the machines as she entered.
The two body guards took off their hoods, revealing one to be Alyssa, alive and looking perfectly fine. "Thought she was dead, too." Jed said to himself, smiling slightly when Alyssa looked at him and blew a kiss his way.
They then lifted up on the of ropes to allow Josie into the ring. Josie was taking off her cape, letting it fall to the ground before walking into the arena. "You are one hell of a hype man." Josie commented, the two lowering the rope.
"Houdini said the same thing." The Necromancer replied, but not into the microphone. He then raised the microphone to his mouth to introduce Lizzie. "And in the blue corner, the Queen of Mean, the Blonde Banshee, She Who Is About to Be Siphoned into Oblivion, your very own... Elizabeth Saltzman!" He exclaimed again, pointing towards the doors.
Instead of booing, cheering and applause broke out into the room which didn't bother Josie but deep down, it was. But that went away as soon as the doors didn't open to reveal Lizzie. Josie laughed when she realised this. She then flicked her fingers to the Necromancer, indicating she wanted the microphone.
Once she grabbed it and the cheering had died down, she put it to her mouth. "Well, my selfish sister didn't show up." She yelled into the microphone. "Who am I gonna kill?" She questioned everyone, earning a few gasps through them. "Should it be..." She trailed off.
"Ooh..." the Necromancer said excitedly.
"...vampires?" She questioned, pointing to them. She then turned to the witches. "Maybe... witches?" She pointed at them only for them to step backwards in fear. Josie then continued on to the werewolves. "How about some werewolves?" She questioned.
You raised your hands, the doors immediately opening and slamming into the seat walls. Josie, The necromancer, and everyone else looked over and watched as you walked in, ignoring everyone and kept you focused on the brunette. The people in front of the door moved out of the way so you could get through.
Grabbing onto the rope, you lifted it and went under to get into the ring. Once you were in, you stood up right and crossed your arms over your chest. "Why not try all three?" You questioned sassily. The crowed erupted into cheers and whistling while Josie only smirked at this.
ââââ
The bells ringed a few times, indicating the fight was about to start. "Let's go!" Some one shouted from the crowd. They were all cheering for you and that caused a lot of pressure and anxiety to build up.
Josie walked up to, about to bunch you but yo kicked her legs and did an Ariel cartwheel, causing her to stumble over into the boundary. You then moved to the opposite corner. Josies eyes became black, you realising this was her casting a spell. "Lecutio Maxima!" She chanted. You reacted fast and also chanted a spell. "Scutum!"
The two bolts of lighting, yours blue and Josies red, caught in the air as you both held your hands out to keep it there, neither of you backing down. bu Josie smirked and pushed her hand forward, causing you to fall backwards against the floor, the audience 'ooh' at the noise you made.
The Necromancer came to your side and started slamming the floor with each count. "One! Two!" The Necromancer started but you only pushed yourself up.
You then got in his face, angry with him. "How did you even get here?" You asked through gritted teeth.
"Oh, you survive this, I'll tell you the whole story." The Necromancer replied.
You let out a soft scoff with a fake smile before looking up at Josie. "This isn't any fun. You're not even fighting back." Josie commented, pacing back and forth.
You got up angrily, getting ready just inc ase she decided to lunge first. "Neither are you, Josie. I know the real you is in there." You tried getting through to her.
"Give it up, Kate." Josie said, annoyed with everyone trying to get her back. "What's it gonna take to get it through to your thick wolf skull that I'm Josie now?" She asked angrily. Her eyes then turned black and she raised her hand. "Incendia!" She chanted but you dodged it. The burst of fire hitting the pole and breaking it.
You took this as your chance to attack Josie and ran up to her, kicking her the stomach which caused her to fall back into the rope, winded while you rolled over the floor and moved to stand up. The audience only groaned from the impact.
"When are you going to get it in your thick witch skull that you are not Josie. I know that you think that she's weak, but I know the truth... she's strong. You're strong. No one could shoulder the burdens that you carry." You explained, the Necromancer groaning in annoyance. "And you're always there for your friends when they need you, especially your sister. So, please, Jo, we really need you right now." You pleaded.
"Enough of this drivel!" The Necromancer exclaimed, rushing towards Josie. "What are you waiting for? Kill the Tribrid." He ordered, looking back at you.
Josie let out heavy breathes as she closed her eyes, trying to block out everything. "Shut up. Everybody, shut up!" She yelled, it echoing within the gym. Just then it seemed Josie had come back as her breathe was heavy. "Kate?" She questioned, scared.
Tears lined your eyes. "Josie, is that you?" You questioned, seeing that she had returned to normal.
She inhaled then exhaled as her eyes rolled back before her dark side returned, her eyes turning black before she smirked. "Mm. Did you really think that you'd be the one that would bring out my good side? I don't even think she likes you." Josie explained, trying to bring out weakness' within you. "Ascendo." She chanted.
She raised her hand upwards, causing you to fly upwards off of solid ground and she held you over the broken pole. You breathed heavily as you realised that you could possibly die right now and activate your vampire. "So, any last words for your tombstone?" She questioned.
"if I die I become the Tribrid but you won't kill me becausse I know you're in there, Jo. Fight it." You ignored her comment, trying to appeal to her better side.
She then looked down at the broken pole. "Mm." Was all she said and tilted her hand downwards and brought it closer to herself, watching as you fell through the air straight towards the pole. The audience gasped but stopped once you were just above the pole.
Someone had saved you from dying, you looked over and realised Lizzie had saved you. "I should have mentioned this earlier. But black really isn't your color." Lizzie commented, glaring her sister down at she siphoned off of MG.
You looked between the two before hearing footsteps again and could barely see a figure walk in. Josie tilted her head and walked forward a little bit. "You're late to your own funeral." Josie stated, upset.
"No. I am right on time to kick your ass." Lizzie retorted, the audience cheering and whistling with Lizzies response. Josie only smirked at her sister's confidence.
Lizzie then placed your down within the ring, Josie huddled into a group with the Necromancer and two other people, one of them being Alyssa. MG then lifted up the ropes, allowing Lizzie to get into the rink. "I owe you one." You commented, resting you hands on your waists.
MG then joined the circle and shortly after Hope joined, glancing a few glares your way. "You can owe me back by promising this stupid potion of yours is gonna work. Because it tasted like feet." Lizzie responded.
"It will, if you win." You stated, reassuring Lizzie. "Also, thanks for coming back." You thanked, happy she didn't leave.
"Like I had a choice. Dirty trick, sending Jiminy Cricket after me." Lizzie scolded you and Hope as she looked at MG.
MG looked at Lizzie, you and Hope looking over at him as he spoke. "You would've done the right thing if I was here or not. Now siphon me. You got to be at full strength." MG cut to the chase.
MG held out his arm to allow Lizzie to siphon but instead, Lizzie pulled him in and kissed but also siphoned him with her hands. You and Hope stared wide eyed, Hope an awkward smile on her face while you mouth hung open a little. She then pulled away, MG flabbergasted. "Just to be clear, that was for you and not me. Just in case I lose." Lizzie explained, MG nodding but smiled widely as Lizzie turned around.
"All right, Sister Satan." Lizzie called out, Josie turning her body to meet her sisters gaze. "Let's dance, but I'm not getting my Merge on until I know that the rest of the school is safe." Lizzie negotiated.
Josie then clicked her finger, the gym doors opening immediately. "Everyone out. Now." Josie ordered.
"You heard her. Let's go. Come on." Jed called out when no one moved. After that, everyone rushed out, not wanting to be there. "Move!"
Lizzie then turned to where everyone was running. "For the record, this huge act of selflessness fully cancels out all of my previous misdeeds!" Lizzie exclaimed.
"No, it doesn't!" Some girl responded.
You glared at the girl. "Shut up and leave!" You yelled at her, her immediately rushing out.
Once everyone was out, the door shut, leaving you, Hope, MG, Lizzie, Josie, the Necromancer, and his two minions. "Enough of this foreplay. It's time for the main event." The Necromancer commented, walking forward and holding out a knife to Josie.
"Mm." Josie hummed. "You have no idea how long I've been waiting for this." Josie commented, putting the knife to her palm and instantly cutting it.
"Apparently, not long enough to think of something clever to say." Lizzie responded, holding out the palm of her hand, allowing Josie to cut it for her. She then handed the knife back to the Necromancer, both of them connecting their hands.
Then they both closed their eyes and started chanting. "Sanguinem desimilus, sanguinem generis fiantus. Sanguinem desimilus, sanguinem generis fiantus. Sanguinem-" They chanted, the wind blowing in all directions.
MG then leaned over towards you and Hope. "You really think she can win?" He asked you two.
"If she can't, let's pray plan B works." Hope replied, never taking her eyes off of the twins.
"Sanguinem generis fiantus. Sanguinem desimilus, sanguinem generis fiantus. Sanguinem desimilus, sanguinem generis fiantus. Sanguinem desimilus-" They chanted, their eyes turning white and the blood flowing immensely from their hands.
The lights crackled and then smashed, bit of light falling to the ground. "Is she winning?" MG asked, worried.
All three of you looked around, watching as everything practically got destroyed. "I don't know." You and Hope responded at the same time.
"desimilus... generis... sanguinem generis fiantus." They continued, but all the light s in the gym were now out and it was dark as you'd ever seen the gym. After their last chant, both of their arms fell to the side, eyes closed and both of them fell to the floor, the final light going out and it becoming pitch black.
"Kate, we've got to go." Hope grabbed your hand, taking you out of your trance as you stared at Lizzies unconscious body. You looked up at her, watching her perplexed face. "Come on." She stated, dragging you out of the ring with MG following.
ââââ
Alaric stood in the Assembly Hall, with most of the students besides the lower class. "This morning, I told you that we would all be okay, that we'd... get Josie back. I-I was wrong. Because the Josie that we loved is gone." He became quiet as he looked down before letting out a few breathes. He then let out a soft cry. "So is Lizzie." He then stopped, looking down and moving away from the podium.
Alaric then made his way to his office, not crying anymore with Kaleb. "How'd I do?" He questioned the vampire as he shut the door.
"I bought every word of it." Kaleb responded.
They both then walked over to Mg whos' leg shook as he waited for Lizzie to wake up. "If Jed's right about the spy in our midst, hopefully they did, too." Alaric commented.
"Yeah." Alaric said softly.
"It won't be long now, if it worked." MG stated, looking up at his friend and headmaster before back to Lizzie.
Just then Lizzie gasped away and brought herself to sit up, while MG laughed, thankful it worked. "Oh, thank God." Alaric exclaimed as he waked to his daughter and hugged her, MG joining in.
"Yeah." MG dragged out. Alaric grunting at the impact.
"Got to give it to Hope and Kate. Hell of a plan." Kaleb stated, also glad it worked.
"I love you guys. Okay, I'm sorry." Mg said and moved back to his seat.
Lizzie and her dad then got out of the hug and looked at each other. "Dad, what's going on?" She questioned, extremely confused as to why she was alive right now.
Alaric moved a bit to get comfortable on the couch. "You're alive, sweetheart. And that's all that matters right now." ALaric explained.
Lizzie then looked around the group. "That means that I won, that-that I-" Lizzie cut herself off, thinking she killed her sister.
"Josie's fine." Alaric reassured his daughter. "She thinks she won. But, uh, Hope and Kate had a plan B." Alaric stated, looking over at MG.
MG took this as his sign to explain what was really going on. "The potion she made wasn't just to keep your mind separate from Jo's. It linked your life to Landon's temporarily. So when you died, he died, too. But since he's immortal, you came back when he did." MG explained, Lizzie unsure of what to say.
"Hope thinks we can get Josie back." Alaric added.
Lizzies eye lit up at that. "How?" She questioned.
"That's where your boy MG came in the clutch." Kaleb cut in, MG putting his arms out to the side, happy. "Calm down." Kaleb ordered.
MG laughed but lowered his arms. "I helped Hope and Kate do an old-fashioned vampire head dive. That's why you had to go through with the Merge. Hope and Kate needed Josie to be vulnerable. Josie's shields were down, so I sent Hope and Kate into Josie's mind. And then I juked her out of there before anybody knew what we were doing." Mg explained more.
Lizzie felt a little betrayed since no one had told her the plan. "Why didn't anyone tell me?" Lizzie questioned, hurt in her voice.
"Hope and Kate couldn't risk Josie figuring out the plan when the two of your minds melded in the Merge." Alaric explained for his daughter to understand.
"Plus, we knew you weren't gonna run away for real. Heroes save the day, even when it's hard, right?" MG questioned, Lizzie giving him a tight lipped smile.
It was quiet for a few seconds before Lizzie spoke up. "So... Hope and Kate are in Josie's mind?" Lizzie questioned, trying to understand.
"Yeah. There's, um, more... to that." Kaleb struggled to find the right words.
Alaric then moved to a shelf that led to a secret room with the weapons inside. He pulled the pulled, allowing the doors to open. Once they were fully open, Lizzie saw you and Hope, unconscious on separate beds, looking quite peaceful. Lizzie walked over at looked at you and Hope.
"Lizzie, till Hope and Kate come back, no one else can know you're alive. The Necromancer's spying on us, so... we have to play to his camera." Alaric explained, Lizzie unsure of what to say again.
