RECAP
You didn't bother moving since this spell didn't really affect you, probably because you are a Tribrid. "Why?" Jade questioned, completely confused.
"Trust me." Was all Alaric said.
Alaric sat down, Jade leaned against the door and you just stood next to Lizzie while Josie started chanting a black magic spell, the same one she used to make everyone remember you. "Harae-tamai kioku yomigaerashi-tamae." Josie chanted, soon after everyone fell unconscious.
Jade fell to the floor, slipping down the wall since she hadn't sat down, Alaric fell against the shelving unit and Josie fell to the floor like she had done before to help Lizzie but you were conscious and that left you with four unconscious bodies and bloodied hands.
ââââ
You had casted a spell on all four of them so hat you wouldn't waste your strength on having to carry them back to the School. Once you reached the door of the school, you went to the library, placing Alaric and Josie on the couches, placing Jade on a couch somewhere else and Lizzie into a random room.
After that you went to a bedroom that had the largest bathroom ever. The bed was on an angle, facing towards the bathroom itself. The bathroom was an open room with a bath tub that sat in the middle, two sinks and a shower. You put your mind back onto cleaning up and turned the tap on, watching as the blood flowed down the sink. You looked away, hating the sight of it.
After finishing with washing your hands, you wiped away any excess blood and went back to where Josie and Alaric were, sitting on and empty chair, falling asleep soon after.
You didn't get much sleep since you heard someone moving, you immediately got up and saw Josie had woken up. She didn't say a thing to you so you didn't say a thing to her and watched as she did a spell to get a book to come to her.
After realising Josie wasn't going to speak to you at all, you walked up to the bourbon and poured yourself one. "Bit young to be drinking, are you?" Josie commented, not looking up from her book.
You scoffed and held the glass up. "Like you care." You commented before chugging the glass down.
Josie then looked up, her face showing no emotion. "I may be different now, but that doesn't mean I stopped caring." Josie replied, looking back down. You poured another drink, scoffing at her response. "I save my dad. I got us to Lizzie and saved her from the black magic killing her, didn't I?" She questioned you.
You stopped from lifting the glass to your mouth as you realised she had a point. Josie smirked at your silence, knowing she was right. Placing the glass down after drinking it, Josie had gotten another book but Alaric had gasped awake.
He looked around his surrounding before landing his eyes on you and Josie. "Where's Lizzie?" Alaric questioned.
Alaric looked at you, getting up abruptly. "She's upstairs sleeping." You replied.
You held another bourbon glass in your hand, Alaric noticing this. "You're too young." He said, taking it from you, causing you to flail your arms and get another glass, pouring another one for yourself. Alaric then chugged the one he took from you before, realising something. "Kai." Was all he said.
"Try to control your emotions. I remember what Kai said. There's still a way for us to get out. This whole place is just another spell. It's made of magic. Magic can be siphoned. I can make holes in this world. Doors." Josie explained.
Footsteps then approached, revealing an awake Jade, Diego and Wendy entering the Library. "So, does this mean you can get us back into the real world?" Jade questioned, coming to a stop, as well as Diego and Wendy. Alaric took a step froward, eyeing the two. "It's all right. I talked to them." Jade stated.
"We just want to go home." Wendy spoke up.
"Well, we can't all go. The magic I siphon here can't travel to the real world. The energy needs to go somewhere, which means someone needs to stay behind to be the anchor." Josie explains. You moved from the bourbon station to be next to Josie. "It should be Diego. No offense." She stated, looking at Diego.
"No." Alaric said, not agreeing with his daughter. "We're not leaving anyone here. We're all getting back." Alaric continued.
Just then Josies eyes went black and she raised a finger. "Shh." She said. You suddenly felt this weird thing, telling you someone was coming, causing you to let out a hard breathe. "Someone's coming." Josie said.
"Josie? Kate?" You heard Hope say.
You turned to the side, Josie doing the same. A smile crawled to your face as your eyes lined with tears. Josie on the other hand lowered her hand and her eyes returned to normal. "Hello." Josie greeted. Josie then looked around, realising only you and her could only see Hope. "Only we can see you." She stated.
Hope looked Josie up and down. "W-What happened to you?" Hope questioned, her voice sounded so close yet so far.
"I broke the Sandclock." She stated like it was the most obvious thing.
Hope looked at you for confirmation, causing you to nod which caused Hope to looked at Josie, wide eyed. "Oh, my God, I'm so sorry." Hope replied.
Alaric looked at you and Josie. "Honey, Kate, who are you talking to?" He questioned.
You looked over at Alaric. "Hope. She's astral-projecting here." You replied, looking back at her.
"Listen, you have to warn her about Kai." Alaric stated, his voice rushed.
Hope looked at Alaric then back to you and Josie. "Why? What happened?" She questioned.
"Kai went into the Malivore pit, and we think he's trying to get to the real world." Josie explained.
Hope let out a sigh. "Actually, I think he's already here, pretending to be someone else." Hope replied.
"Kai's at the school." Josie told Alaric, starring at him
Alaric let out a sigh, worried. He shifted his weight onto his other foot as he looked between you and Josie. "Hope? Listen to me, Kai's incredibly dangerous. You have to get him away from the school now." Alaric stated.
Josie smirked at Hope. "Good luck, Hope." Josie said, waving.
You sent a sad smile her way. "Catch up later, bubs." You softly said to her.
Hope looked to you, tears glistening and on the verge of falling. Josie then flicked her wrist. "Wait-" Was all Hope said before she disappeared.
You and Josie then turned around. "We need to do whatever it takes to get out of here." Josie said, forming a small plan.
Alaric looked at his daughter. "Fine. We do the spell." He commented, turning to look out to all the students. "And I'll stay behind. You were all my students once. It has to be me." Alaric said solemnly. You stared at Alaric, disbelief written all over your features since Alaric would just sacrifice himself for you guys like that.
You scoffed, walking off away from the room, the silence being claustrophobic. You may have met Alaric over a year ago, but you considered him a second-father and you hated the fact that he was just going to do that. You already lost a father and mother and you didn't want to lose another. Josie however didn't react and just moved away to start the spell.
ââââ
Hope gasped awake, a couple tears falling to which she quickly wiped away. She let out a few deep breathes before she heard a voice speak up. "How'd all that go?" Kai questioned the Mikaelson. Hope turned around, getting jumped by the sudden voice.
She, however, decided to lie since she now knew that it was Kai and not some 'old friend' of Ric's. "It didn't. I couldn't reach them." Hope responded, lying through her teeth although she sounded quite believable.
Kai then placed something down back on the drawer. "Oh." Kai said, looking away.
Hope then looked back to the book, closing it and standing up, straightening her skirt out. She watched as Kai just looked around th room, as if he was in search of something. "Did you need something?" Hope asked, her voice higher than usual.
Kai only sniffed deeply, as if he was trying to smell something out like a dog. "It's not you. It's not me." Was all he said.
Hope looked at him in disbelief. "Excuse me?" She said, disturbed.
"No." Kai then leaned into the bed, sniffing until he sniffed a bag. "Yes, there it is." Kai said, picking up a stuffed bear as he chuckled. "Oh, why is it always stuffed animals? It's the weirdest thing." Kai said, walking towards Hope.
He then ripped off the bears head, revealing an ascendent in mint condition, meaning it had to be the one you and the Saltzmans were trapped in. "How did you know?" Hope questioned, her voice wavering as she looked at it.
"Oh, Alyssa Chang just needed a, uh, a compassionate ear to bend." He responded, taking the ascendent out of the bear, throwing the rest of the body to the floor. "Hey, I'm sorry to, uh, stick my nose in, but she really doesn't like you people." Kai then placed glassed on her face, examining the ascendant. "Anyhoo, now all you need is something that has the equivalent power of a celestial event. Do you have any ideas?" He questioned, taking off his glasses.
He looked Hope in the eye. "I do." She nodded her head, thinking of a lie. "But we have to go off-campus to get it." She continued.
Kai looked as if he was concentrating a bit to much, the silence becoming loud before he responded. "Who doesn't love a field trip?" He questioned before leaving the room. Finally giving Hope the air to breathe.
ââââ
"Huh. That smells old." Kai commented as he opened the garage. "Wow, wow, wow. This doesn't seem like much of a spot for a powerful magical artifact." Kai commented again.
Hope looked up at him as she joined his side. "Neither does a stuffed elephant." She responded.
Kai chuckles. "That's very good."
"Dr. Saltzman hid what we need in one of these crates, so... look for the Salvatore logo." She explained, going to the right and searching for a crate.
Kai turned his gaze to the left, walking over there. "It's a good thing there's not, like," He laughed. "four hundred crates in here." Kai joked. Hope cautiously looked back at him while she took off a piece of wood from a crate to use it as a stake. "Eeny, meeny, miny, crate." Kai said, opening the crate but closed it up. "When you say Salvatore logo, you mean, like, that thing with the 'S' and the squiggle?" Kai questioned.
Hope took it as her time to throw the stake, it going straight to his heart but it stopped in the air, Kai turning around menacingly. The stake then dropped to the floor. "And so it begins." Kai said.
Kai was quick to vamp speed to Hope but she reacted fast, casting a spell that emitted a blue explosion, causing Kai to get blown away. He then grunted as he fell to the floor on his back. "Icaeus." Hope chanted, lifting up a few small boxes, sending them flying towards Kai.
Kai lifted his hand, stopping the crates, watching them as they fell to the floor into stakes. "Nice try." He commented, getting up. Hope then ran towards him, punching him in the face, then kicking his legs, causing him to fall to the ground again.
Hope them stopped, realising something. "You could have blocked that." She stated, confused.
Kai lifted himself onto his elbows, looking up at Hope. "Yeah, you're right. I-I just wanted you to think you were doing a good job." Kai replied, chuckling afterwards.
Hope then took a step back. "You're not trying to beat me." Hope realised. Kai then let outa large grunt as he got up to sit on his butt.
Kai shook his head. "Oh, no. No, not for a a few more minutes. Because right now, Alyssa Chang is performing a spell that will sever my connection to the prison world." Kai started explaining. "And since that place was created for me, once she's done..." He trailed off as he got up to stand on his feed.
"The world will disappear." Hope finished for him. "Along with everyone inside of it." She whispered the last bit, you immediately popping up inside her mind.
Kia stayed quiet as he watched Hope. "Oops." Was all he responded with as if he didn't do anything wrong. Hope then casted a spell that pushed him into a pillar, chains immediately wrapping around him to hold him still.
Hope then lowered her arm. "Thanks so much for the villain monologue. I'll deal with you later." She stated, going to walk out but stopped when he spoke up.
"Hey, before you go rushing off, there's something you should probably know." Hope came to a stop and looked at Kai, walking over. "I compelled what's-his-name. Who's with, uh, you know, your friend, curly-hair? Lando. There it is." He whispered the end bit. "That's thanks to you. As we sit here chatting, they're headed east, away from the school, into the woods, walking straight into the path of a golden arrow." He explained.
Hope let out a shaky breathe, walking over to Kai. "You're lying." She responded, wanting to deny the fact that she just sent Landon to his death.
Kai chuckled softly. 'You know, for once, I'm not. I guess we'll find out if that prophecy's really true." Kai commented, smiling. Hope then thought, her eyes looking distant as she about what could happen and how to save both you, the Saltzmans and Landon. "Oh, you can stop doing the math in your head. You'll never make it to both places in time." Kai continued speaking.
Hope then looked up to meet his gaze, glaring at him. "You can't save them all." Kai said. "So, you, uh you have a little choice to make. Who's it gonna be?" He questioned. Hope just walked off, listening to the menacing laughs that Kai emitted from his mouth, finding his whole plan hilarious.
ââââ
Alaric found you sitting in a room by yourself. He watched as you looked deep in thought, probably thinking about Hope or the fact he just sacrificed himself. "Kate." He called.
You didn't even spare him a glance and you sniffed. "What do you want, Ric? Shouldn't you be preparing yourself to spend eternity here?" You retorted, clearly upset with the whole plan.
Alaric let out a soft sigh as he came to sit next to you. You looked down at your hands, playing with them as you didn't make a move to move away from him. "I'm doing this to protect you and everyone in this prison world. I'm doing this so you can go back to the real world." He explained.
You looked up at the ceiling, holding back a sob. "Except for you." Your voice cracked slightly.
"Kate-" ALaric started, reaching over to grab your hands.
You instantly moved away standing up as you paced around. "Don't 'Kate' me, Alaric. This is like I'm losing my parents all over again!" You exclaimed, a few tears running down your cheek. "How do you think Lizzie will react to you staying here for the rest of eternity?" You questioned the older man. "You think I know how to comfort her? She needs her dad!" You continued.
You calmed your breathe slightly while Alaric stayed quiet. "Let me start with how this is going to turn out when you stay here and we all go back to the real world. Lizzie will be lost and won't know what to do, Josie â once she's back to normal â will feel Quilty for having not of stopped you from volunteering and me... I'll hate you for leaving me after I considered you like a father." You explained.
Placing your hands on your cheeks to get rid of the stained tears, you let out a scoff. "I've already lost my parents, Alaric. I don't want to have to add 'Uncle' to that list as well." You retorted, walking out of the room and back to the others. once you saw Lizzie and she saw you, you both hugged. Apparently Lizzie had been informed about what her dad was doing and also hated it.
Soon after Alaric joined the group and you all had walked into the middle of the woods where the opening was. "We need to work together. Place the spires in a circle to create a boundary spell. As I begin to siphon, doors will open beneath them. Each door can only transport one person. Once I begin the spell, I cannot stop until it is done. So, when you see the door, you have to go." Josie explained.
You had helped Lizzie walk since she was still injured. Each one of you held a spear type thing that would help get you back to the real world. You stabbed it into the ground so it could stand up on its own, helping Lizzie place hers as well and made sure she could balance on hers before walking over back to your pole.
Everyone watched in anticipation as Josie sat on the floor, getting ready to do the spell. Josie held a blade to her hand, cutting it and let blood drip onto the spell book in order to do the spell. Josies eyes then became black as she closed them, starting the spell since she siphoned magic and the wind had picked up.
Alaric walked up to her daughter, Lizzie looking over at her dad. "Dad, don't do this. We'll find another way." Lizzie pleaded.
Alaric then turned to face his daughter. "Lizzie, there's no time. Kai got out. He's at the school. Hope's trying to stop him, but if she can't, you, Josie and Kate have to." He then handed his daughter a sword. "You got to go now." He finished.
Just then a bright circle appeared under Josie as she held her head high. "But, Dad, Sebastian is still here. He'll come after you." Lizzie continued to try and convince her dad.
"I'll be fine. Besides, you'll find a way to get me back in no time." Alaric reassured his daughter. Lizzie panted as she looked down, watching as the circle of light appeared.
You then looked down at you pole, watching as a light also appeared around it. "I'm so sorry. I never should have-" Lizzie got cut off from her dad, sobbing softly.
"It's okay. I love you." He stated, hugging his daughter.
After getting out of the hug he walked over to you. "I don't want to hear it Alaric!" You yelled, still angry with him.
ALaric nodded his head. "I know you don't, but I'm going to tell you anyway; I'm grateful you came into my life, Kate, it's actually given me hope that Tyler and Liv have actually gone to peace knowing that you're alive." Alaric explained. "You may hate me but that doesn't matter to me since I know you'll be happy." ALaric explained, finishing up with a hug, to which you returned, feeling you needed it.
ââââ
Hope ran through the woods, but came to a stop in a small opening. Once side led to Landon while the other to Alyssa. Kai's voice suddenly echoed in her head. "You'll never make it to both places in time. You can't save them all. Who's it gonna be?" Hope then shook her head, running to ALyssa to save you.
Hope ran into the school and to the assembly area, finding Alyssa had already started the spell. She panted as she came to a stop due to a barrier spell. She found Alyssa holding a sword on the ascendant. "Don't!" Hope exclaimed, yelling at the witch.
Alyssa then looked at the Mikaelson. "You really are a basic witch." ALyssa commented, looking the girl up and down.
"Alyssa, please!" Hope pleaded, extremely worried.
"I don't want them back. Not now, not ever." Alyssa explained, obviously angry.
"If you finish that spell, you'll kill them all." Hope retorted.
Alyssa stayed quiet, confused as she was told different. "He didn't say anything about that." She stated.
"Well, think about it. If you sever the connection, the prison world collapses. Everyone in it will die." Hope explained, worry evident in her voice. " Look, I know that you're angry, and I know that you want to hurt them." Hope started, sitting on her knees on the floor to be eye level with Alyssa. "But you're not a murderer. Trust me, you don't want to be responsible for someone's death. It stays with you. You carry it forever." Hope explained, pausing.
Alyssa looked away from Hope and instead looked down at the ascendant. "I know." She responded, sounding calmer as she took the knife away from the ascendant, looking back at Hope who had a smile on her face.
Just then the ascendant started clicking. "That isn't me." Alyssa stated, both girls standing up, worried and confused with what was happening with the ascendent.
ââââ
You watched as Wendy was the first to go. "I'll get you out, I promise." Lizzie promised her father as he was now back in front of her.
"I know you will." He responded. "Now you got to go!" He exclaimed, gently pushed his daughter into the light to which you followed.
After a few seconds, you found yourself in the Assembly Hall near Lizzie. You both look at each other wrapped your arms around each other, holding each other close. You then got out of the hug, turning around and seeing Hope. "Hope..." You trailed off, running into her arms, her doing the same.
"Don't ever leave me again." Hope whispered into your ear, happy and relieved to see you.
You let out a small shackle. "It's not like I had a say in whether I got to go to the prison world." You retorted, pulling away from the hug and cupped her face. "But I promise I won't." You promised her, pecking her lips as you then saw someone to the right.
Looking over you saw Alaric, Lizzie immediately running into his arms, but shortly after left the hug. "I thought you were staying in that place." You scolded, your voice breaking lightly.
He chuckled. "Well, Sebastian didn't give me a chance to stay." He responded, pulling you in for a hug, you reciprocating it. Both of you pulled away as a bright light filled the room, causing you to cover your eyes.
Just then, Josie appeared, in the same position as before. "Hey, you made it." Hope said to Josie, obviously forgetting about her and how she was when she astral projected.
You grabbed Hopes hand, pulling her away a little bit as you watched her stand up from the ground. "Josie?" You questioned. Just then, Josie turned around, appearing normal.
"It's me, guys. I'm back." She stated, smiling. You, Lizzie and Hope walked towards Josie, pulling her into a tight hug, Alaric joining in causing you to smile more.
Hope then got serious. "Landon's in trouble." Hope stated towards you and Josie. You were able to say something but Hope stopped you. "I'll explain later." Hope said, already guessing what you were going to ask.
You, Josie and Hope ran through the woods, in search of Landon. You all came to a stop in an open area. "What happened?" Josie asked, not even sparring a glance at Hope.
Hope let out heavy breathe. "I had to make a choice. And.. I didn't choose Landon." She whispered the last part.
You played with your hands as heavy pants escaped your mouth, extremely worried. "But it's okay, right? B-Because he's gonna come out of the tree line any second, and-and if I-when I open my eyes, he's gonna be there. He has to be." You stated, worry evident in your voice as you rambled, closing your eyes.
Hope didn't say anything but instead grabbed your hand and interlaced them. You inhaled and exhaled to calm your breathing but when you opened your eyes, you saw no Landon and only trees. "Oh my God. I don't see him." You exclaimed quietly, your breathe shaky and tears forming in your eyes.
"I do." Josie said quietly.
You and Hope looked at Josie before looking up at the sky and saw Landon... flying? He had extremely fiery wings that kept him afloat and lit up the dark, cold sky but he was also holding something within his grasp. The sound of flames engulfed your ears as you watch Landon land on the ground, holding Dorian in his body.
Alaric came running out of no where, Josie following his lead when Landon had placed Dorian on the ground, Landons wings disappearing. "Dorian, hey, it's gonna be okay, buddy. Just hang in there, hang in there." Dorian soothed his friend.
Small ash particles stayed in the air as Landon walked over towards you and Hope. "Go help Dorian." You told Hope, her nodding and letting go of your hand, walking over to the Saltzman.
Landon then came running towards you, engulfing you into a giant hug. "Missed you little sister." He said to you.
You smiled into his shoulder. "Miss you too older brother." You stated, pulling away from him, giving him a tight smile.
ââââ
You walked over to Hopes bed, immediately enjoying the softness of the bed. "Remind me to never do magic with Alyssa ever again." You told Hope, it being muffled dueto your face stuffed into a pillow.
Hope let out a chuckle, hopping onto the bed next to you, resting on her left side. You moved yourself so you could be on your right and look at Hope. "Will do." She responded with a smile. You both fell into a comfortable silence, both smiles off your faces now. "I really thought I lost you today because of that prison world." Hope said after a couple minutes, sounding scared.
Your heart melted when she said that, both of you making eye contact. "I'm sorry." She apologised after a couple seconds.
You gave her a confused look. "For what?" You questioned, your voice barely above a whisper as you started into her ocean blue eyes.
She let out a breathe. "I almost decided going after Landon tonight because I thought; 'If he dies and Kate miraculously comes back, she would've lost another person she cares about'." Hope started, looking down. "I also felt like if I did, you would've hated me." She continued, quilt on her features.
Your heart broke hearing that Hope would've thought that. "No, I wouldn't've. I actually would've been happy you chose him, he deserves a normal life, or chest thing to normal." You explained, Hope lifting her head back up. "But you had a choice, save six lives or save one, luckily everyone came back." You continued. "And, I know how hard loss like this is for you and me but you still made the right choice." You paused, looking down.
"I don't know if I could have done that." You continued, pulling your arms closer to your chest. "Which is why you need to be the hero, Hope. I'm still relatively new to the supernatural â I didn't know what a heretic was until yesterday â and I barely saved Lizzie from dying during surgery. You do what the rest of us can't do." You explained.
Hope stayed quiet, watching your eyes stare back into hers. "Well, I can't play football or do surgery." Hope retorted, a cheeky smile on her face. You let out a small chuckle as you leaned in kissing you lips softly before moving so you could be on your back and hope could rest her head on your chest. You wrapped an arm around her shoulder as she dug her head into your neck.
Hope them spoke up after a few seconds. "Will you tell me what it's like?" She questioned. "Like playing football?" She questioned.
You kept your eyes glued to the ceiling. "Well, it's fun, y'know? Being able to run with the ball and get a touchdown." You whispered. "Being able to feel the wind in your face while running, the adrenaline when holding the ball and running for dear life." You continued.
A small smile creeping to your lips as you thought of you and your dad playing while your mom watched. "I can't really explain it." You whispered, letting your eyes fall slightly. "I guess I'll just have to teach you so you can see for yourself." You whispered to her. You then stopped as you realised she had fallen asleep.
Letting out a small and quiet chuckle, you kissed her head and rested your head on hers, falling asleep as well. Being in her arms was the best feeling, never in a million years would you have guessed to end up with someone like her. Shortly after, you fell into a deep slumber, the warmth of her arm around you engulfing you.
