RECAP

Alaric looked down at it before back into the eyes of his daughter, cupping her cheek. "It's okay. Easy does it." He said before gently grabbing her and getting her out of the car, earning groans from Lizzie. "We need to get you to the hospital. Everything's gonna be just fine." Alaric strained, lifting Lizzie out of the car to lean on it.

Lizzie coughs, looking at her dad. "Dad, I drank vampire blood. Please don't let me die." Lizzie pleaded, tears in her eyes, obviously petrified for her life.

Alaric looked around before picking Lizzie up. "You're not gonna die." He reassured his daughter.

————

You, Alaric, Lizzie and Josie had made it to the hospital. Alaric rushed to the operating table, with you following just as quickly and helped gently placed Lizzie down on the bench. Josie just took her precious time.

Lizzie started groaning out in pain, louder than the ones she had done before. Alaric handed you the towels her picked up from the table, once you grabbed them, you immediately put pressure on Lizzies wound, causing her to cough and groan in pain.

"You're gonna be okay, Lizzie. It's all right, it's all right." Alaric soothed, looking into his daughters eyes.

You looked at Josie, watching as she looked at Lizzies wound, showing no emotion. "The black magic is making her worse." Josie stated, Lizzie groaning in pain again, panting as well. "She won't make it with it inside her." Josie continued.

Tears formed in your eyes at you looked at Lizzie before between the two of them. "If I give her my blood, she'll heal but the black magic will kill her and if it does, she's sired to me Ric." You explained rather quickly.

Alaric looked into your glazed over eyes, knowing you were trying your best to not cry and he hated to admit it but so was he. He then let out a sigh and looked at Josie. "Well, Josie, can you do something?" Alaric questioned.

Lizzie then started crying out in pain, tears streaming down her face. "Josie." You called, your voice in a orderly tone that gained her attention. Her emotionless face met your worried face. "Please, she's your sister." You pleaded.

"I'll be unconscious for a little while." She then tilted her head to the side, her eyes turning black. "Don't be scared." She then started siphoning Lizzie, her eyes shutting and black veins travelling up her neck, causing both the twins to fall unconscious.

Just then Jade ran in. "I can help!" She exclaimed but came to an abrupt stop when she saw your hands holding Lizzies wound which was still bleeding. Veins travelled up her eyes, causing her to gasp at walk backwards quickly, hiding behind the wall to control her hunger. "Dr.Saltzman, Kate. It's me." Jade stated. "I don't know how, but Josie turned my humanity back on." Jade continued.

You and ALaric looked at each other, confused on how that worked but then looked back at Jade to see her shoulder. The patent smell of blood filling your nose, causing a shiver to run down your spine and for you to grimace at the smell.

"Look, you can still kill me if you want to, all right? I-I know that I deserve it." Jade started blabbering on. But I was training as an EMT when I was 16, and I've spent the last ten years learning how to patch people up after a fight, all right? I can help her." Jade explained. "But I can't be near the blood. So you're just gonna have to do exactly what I tell you." Jade explained. You both let out a shaky breathe.

Hope was still sat at the desk, a book to her left while she held a piece of the ascendant, examining it before she looked at the book. Every time she fixed the ascendant up, it would just break all over again, causing her to get frustrated. She then heard footsteps approaching, causing her to look up. "Hey." Landed greeted, holding a tray of beverages.

"Hey." Hope smiled, placing the piece she was holding down and stared at the tray, her smiling growing. "What's all this?" She asked, watching as Landon placed the tray down in front of her.

"A flightless co-hero being useful." Landon responded jokingly. Hope chuckled, looking up from the tray and at Landon. "Any progress?" He questioned, stuffing his hands into his jean pockets.

Hope shook her head. "No. Alyssa spelled it so every time I repair it, it just breaks again." Hope explained, crossing her arms on the table, looking at the book.

Landon sent her a confused look. "And you can't unspell it?" Landon questioned.

Hope glanced up at him, thinking he was joking but when she found out he was serious, she shook her head. "No. No." She repeated. "There's got to be something I'm overlooking." Hope said, mainly to herself.

Landon started pouring the drink into a glass but stopped when a unfamiliar voice spoke up. "There is. Sorry, you have the wrong ascendant." Kai stated, looking between the two teenagers.

Hope gave the older man a confused and annoyed look. "O-Oh? Says who?" Hope responded.

"Fam, meet; Joshua." Dorian spoke up, sounding a bit too excited.

Hope moved to get up, looking at 'Joshua'. Kai put his hands behind him. "Hello." He greeted.

"Old friend of Ric's. And drumroll, please; He's also an expert on prison worlds." Landon looked ta Hope who hadn't taken her eyes off of 'Joshua' before back to the two men. "I told him about our problem." Dorian stated.

Kai took a cautious step forward. "Do you mind if I...?" He trailed, Hope just looked down, Kai took that at his que to walk up towards the ascendant. "Thank you so much. Wow. Wow, wow, wow." Kai put his glasses on, picking up a few pieces. "It is in pieces. Oh, my." He held it up to his ear for a few seconds before looked at Landon and Hope.

"There's a linking spell on this. It produces a, a faint hum, like a, like a melody, if you, if you know what to listen for." He held it close to Landons ear, Landon listening but heard no hum. "You clearly don't." Landon looked at Hope, confused while Hope gave Landon a confused look as well, not trusting this guy.

"When the Saltzmans performed their spell on-on this ascendant, they were being tied to another." He explained before holding the ascendant piece in front of Landon. "Hold this." Kai ordered, Landon actually taking it to which Hope grabbed it off him and put it back on the table. "That witch of yours didn't send them to, you know, a new, empty prison world. She sent them somewhere, somewhere far older and..." He trailed off.

He then started pouring bourbon into a glass. "...much more dangerous." He whispered, placing the bourbon bottle down. "And you're going to need my help to get them out." Kai explained, him and Hope keeping an uncomfortably long eye contact.

————

"It's worse than we thought." Hope commented. "The Saltzmans and Kate are stuck inside of a prison world with the guy who murdered their mothers, they're all in danger." Hope continued, placing herb leaves into a bowl as they stood in her room.

"Alyssa must have kept the original ascendant hidden. You know she's not just gonna hand it over." Landon tried explain.

Hope turned around, holding the bowl in her hands. "I have to know if the Saltzmans and Kate are still alive-"

"And by that you really just mean Kate." Landon cut in.

Hope ignored his commented and continued walking. "And the only way to do it is to astral-project there." Hope continued, walking past him.

Landon turned around. "Hope we had a deal." Landon recalled, causing Hope to stop and turn around to face the brunette. "You might get lost and not find your way back." Landon tried convincing Hope it wasn't a good idea.

Hope let out a small sigh. "In my dream, Josie said to me, 'We're not alone'." Hope tried convincing Landon that she was going to be okay.

"Okay." Landon tried speaking again but got cut off.

"Look, Landon, I have to try. If they've been in danger this whole time and something happens because I couldn't find a way to save them-" Hope started speaking quickly, trying to hold back a cry but stopped when a knock rang throughout the room.

Both of them looked to see who it was, finding it was Dorian. "Hey, sorry to intrude. Got some good news, so Joshua's doing some research for us. He said there's a rare flower that grows near the falls. The extract makes people tell you their deepest secrets." He explained. "If we give that to Alyssa, we can get her to tell us where the ascendant is." He paused, looking at Landon. "Landon, you come with me."

Landon nodded. "Yeah." He whispered.

"No." Hope immediately stopped Landon. "He stays here." Hope latched onto his arm, proving her point.

Landon turned around and looked Hope in the eye. "Hey. You try to contact them, I'll be right back. Okay?" Landon questioned but didn't get a response from Hope. "If we take risks, we take them together." Landon stated.

Hope let go of his arm slowly, allowing him to move to Dorian. "I'll keep him safe. I promise." Dorian stated, sounding sincere.

Jade had basically told Alaric to put Lizzie under, the monitor on and everything while you kept pressure on the wound. Once that was done, Jade had told you to take the shard out of Lizzies stomach. You gently grabbed it, pulling it out as you placed it on the tray. "Okay, now you're gonna need to stop the bleeding." Jade stated. "There's a Laughlin clamp on the tray. It kind of looks like-"

Alaric moved to the tray, picking up the clamp. "Yeah, I know what it looks like. Her mom invented it." Alaric explained, handing you the clamp.

Everything fell silent as you tried stopping the bleeding, the only noise in the room being your heavy breathing and the monitor beeping. Just doing random stuff - that you felt was right based on your instincts - had calmed Lizzies heart rate from one hundred and ten to seventy five. You heard Jade let out a sigh. "Okay. Vessel's sealed. Her pulse is steady." Jade commented.

You set the Laughlin clamp down, looking at your blood stained hands both grossed out and surprised you were able to do it. "Thank you." Alaric said, looking at Jade who was looking back at you and Alaric.

Just then Josie stood up like nothing happened. "Hello again." She said, walking towards Jade.

Jade looked inside the room, focusing on Josie and Josie only. "What happened to you?" She questioned.

You let out a shaky breathe as you stared at the blood on your hands before up at Josie and Jade. "She did something dangerous with black magic. And now she can't recall why." Alaric explained.

"I must have had a reason. But it's blank. There's something's missing from my memory. Or someone." Josie exclaimed, turning her head menacingly towards you. "But she knows who it was, she's just keeping her mouth shut." Josie scolded you, causing you to look away from her eye sight. Once she turned around to Jade, you looked back up.

Jade reached into her back pocket, pulling out a note. "Uh, same. I don't know what this is, but I found it in my pocket." She handed the note to Josie, who opened to read it before walking towards you and Ric, holding it out for you two to read.

'THANKS FOR ALL THE SEX. - KAI' It read. As soon as you saw Kai your breathe got caught in your throat, causing Josie to look over at you, knowing that this was the person who had been erased from everyone's memory but yours. "Who's Kai?" Alaric questioned, not picking up on your stiffness.

Josie smirked, looking at you as she folded the paper up. "The person who's missing from our memory." She then closed her eyes. "There's a spell affecting my mind. I've felt it before." She then opened her eyes, them being completely black. "Malivore." She said in a distorted voice.

Alarics eyes widened, knowing what Josie was about to do. "You might want to grab a seat, Jade." Alaric commented.

You didn't bother moving since this spell didn't really affect you, probably because you are a Tribrid. "Why?" Jade questioned, completely confused.

"Trust me." Was all Alaric said.

Alaric sat down, Jade leaned against the door and you just stood next to Lizzie while Josie started chanting a black magic spell, the same one she used to make everyone remember you. "Harae-tamai kioku yomigaerashi-tamae." Josie chanted, soon after everyone fell unconscious.

Jade fell to the floor, slipping down the wall since she hadn't sat down, Alaric fell against the shelving unit and Josie fell to the floor like she had done before to help Lizzie but you were conscious and that left you with four unconscious bodies and bloodied hands.
