Part 3

RECAP

You and Lizzie smirked as she said that. All of you came to a stop when Landon and Wade turned around. "Hey! Focus." Landon basically ordered the three of you. "It's gaining strength by the minute. Once it's strong enough to manifest itself on a, um, non-fairy plane." Landon trailed off towards the end, pointing at Wade. "Anyway, we have to figure out a way to stop it." Landon quickly summarised.

Lizzie was now stifling laughter. "It is so much less impressive when you give the hero speeches." Landon's den Wade stared at Lizzie, Landon looking done with her combatís. "That was all me." She happily stated.

You pinched the bridge of your nose as Lizzie said that. "Okay, what's the plan?" You questioned, looking back up. Wade and Landon didn't say anything, meaning that the did not in fact have a plan to take this monster out.

————

You were all in the library searching for a way to stop this new monster. "Okay. The Qareen does have an Achilles' heel. Uh, it's weak to myrrh, Sinbad's scimitar, and fairies." Wade explains, proudly saying fairies with a smile.

Both you and Hope were at a bookshelf looking for books on the Qareen. Once hearing that, you and Hope rolled your eyes. "Don't even think about it." Hope commented.

Wade turned around to look at Hope. "Why don't you believe me?" He questions sadly.

You turned around and shut the book you were reading to see Wade. "Can you fly or shoot fairy dust or make others gleeful?" Hope questioned, annoyance laced in her voice.

You'd decided to cut in, watching Wade turn back around to face Landon. "No, because you're doing the exact same thing that Landon is doing while he trains with me; trying to fit in. It's honestly delusional." You harshly said, under the effect of the monster without realising. Once you did, your eyes lit up and so did Hopes as you both realise what you had done.

Hope then turned around, you glanced back at her. "We sh-shouldn't have said that." Hope commented, her voice sincere.

"You do know the reason I'm training is to help you guys with this stuff?" Landon stated, looking between you and Hope.

Hope locked eyes with Landon. "If I need someone to die a lot, or be picked on, I know who to call." Hope pointed at Landon first then Wade, moving forward. A smile formed on her face as the monster effect took place again.

Wade then stood up from his seat and started walking away. "Wade, we're sorry. I'm sorry. I didn't mean that- I didn't mean that." Hope rambled, lowering her voice once Wade wouldn't listen and looked down.

You walked down to stand next to Hope, knowing she would never actually say that. "Actually, you guys did. the Qareen magnifies insecurities." Landon stated. Both you and Hope took and seat, Hope letting out a sigh. "It doesn't make them." Landon continued.

Just then the all familiar voice of the person you hate most - surprisingly not Clarke - Alyssa arrived. Her voice already getting on your nerves. "Hey, book nerds." Alyssa called. All three of you looking up. "There's a monster on campus." She says, pointing behind her. "Kind of looks like the pimple Kate had last week." Alyssa stated, obviously being rude and laughed.

You glared at her, practically sending knives at her as she said that. "Are you sure it wasn't your own damn reflection?" You questioned, being done with her. She scrunched up her face and walked off. "I'm so done with her. I'm so done with her that I want to kill her." You mumbled, rolling your eyes.

Hope looked over at you. "If we're killing her, I'm joining." Hope stated.

Landon ignored both comments on killing Alyssa. "Great. It's strong enough to be on our plane." Landon commented.

"Okay, well, let's get you somewhere safe just in case. So you don't run off and somehow get yourself kidnapped again." You stated, watching Landon stop to look at you as you made 'again' stand out in your sentence. "I'm trying not blame the victim here." You responded to Landons look, sending the same one to him.

Landon looked down at the book before up at you again. "I actually don't think it's after me." Landon stated, getting confused looks from you and Hope. "Like, it actively avoided Wade and me." Landon continued.

Hope looked at you, extremely confused before looking back at Landon. "Then what does it want?" She questioned.

Before Landon could respond, a thud came from Ric's office, earning you all to look in the direction. You, Hope and Landon immediately got up and walked to the office. Once entering, you saw Lizzie helping Josie up, as if she had fallen. "What happened?" You questioned, worried for your cousin.

Josie carefully got up, looking over at the three of you. "Monster." Josie said, obviously feeling weak.

Landon then decided to join in. "Uh, Emma put up a barrier spell, so the Qareen's stuck in here with us." Landon explained.

Josie had moved to sit down, as she looked around the room, holding her head in pain, realisation took over her. "It took the Sand clock." Josie stated.

"The Sand clock? Why?" Hope questioned the Saltzman.

"It doesn't matter." Lizzie said, standing behind Josie. "We just need to get it back. We can take this thing out, okay?" Lizzie questioned, as if trying to tell herself that they could take it out. "We are four badass witches and one moderately competent bird." Lizzie stated, deciding which words to use for Landon.

You sent a glare towards Lizzie as she said that. Lizzie, however, sent you a glare back before Josie started talking. "Except if the Sand clock gets damaged, something really bad is gonna happen." Josie explained rather quickly.

'Well, if it's like all the other monster, which it most likely will be, we need to exploit a weakness to obviously take it down. Preferably fast." You cut in, resting on the office desk. "Except Landon's research into figuring that out was about as useful as his sparring skills." You comment, immediately realising what you said and locked eyes with Landon who looked done with you. "Oh my god, sorry. Love you, big brother." You continued.

Landon then had a serious face. "Or maybe my research was fine, but god forbid you use your brain instead of punching every problem." Landon angrily said, walking closer to you.

You pushed yourself off the desk, glaring at him as you crossed your arms over you chest. Realisation then struck his features. "Oh, crap. I'm infected." He stated, he then looked into your glaring eyes. "I'm sorry. Love you, little sister." He stated, using your words.

Lizzie then decided to join in. "Join the club." She sassily said. "Maybe the only one that'll have you." Lizzie stated, you looking back at Lizzie. "Sorry. Monster." Lizzie clarified why she said that.

Landon looked between all of you."Why am I being affected now? I wasn't before." Landon stated, obviously confused. You all were now looking at him. "Oh." He said in realisation. "Okay. I might have a plan." He stated, looking around the group.

————

Landons bright idea was to get everyone chanting Wades name in the assembly hall. Everyone is chanting his name, louder when he enters with Landon behind him. You and Hope were clapping while Lizzie and Josie just looked at Wade. "We gathered everyone we could." Josie stated over the loud chanting to Wade who was no at the bottom of the stairs.

"Let loose the fairy!" Hope commented.

Landon looked back at the four of you then back at Wade. "You got this, Wade. Just know that everyone believes in you." Landon stated to Wade, helping to boost his confidence.

A girl screams, causing our attention to go towards the Qareen who held the Sand clock. People still continued to chant Wade. wade scrunched up his face, trying to let loose the fairy but let out a sharp breathe, unable too. "W-Wha-What's wrong? Wade?" You questioned, worried.

Wade shook his head. "This isn't giving me any powers. I don't think anyone really believes in me." Wade continued.

Lizzie scoffed at his response. "This is why we don't entrust plans to Muppet Babies." Lizzie fired to Landon. "I'm not sorry." Lizzie t stated afterwards, causing you to role your eyes and lightly slap her arm to focus. Lizzie slightly stuck her tongue out in annoyance then focused back on the conversation.

"I believe." Landon commented. He then moved past you four. "And I'll prove it." He stated. Landon ran towards the Qareen and started fighting it. After dodging a few hits and getting a few hits, Landon got dragged by the Qareen across the table.

You moved forward, worried for your brothers life. "What in the hell are you doing?" You yelled at Landon.

"Trusting in Wade." He grunted, moving as the Qareen slammed the table where Landon once was. Landon kicked the Qareen in the face, knocking it back as he got off the table.

Hope started to chant a spell but Lizzie stopped her. "Wait, we can't break the Sand clock." Josie stated, looking back at the fight.

The Qareen then grabbed Landon and kicked him in the chest and through him against the table. "Landon!" You exclaimed, starting to rush forward but Lizzie stopped you, not wanting you to get hurt.

The Qareen then grabbed Landon but the neck, holding him against his chest as Landon looked out to the students, the Qareen choking him. His eyes landed on you being held back by Lizzie with tears in your eyes. "You're weak. You can't protect yourself, let alone anyone else." The Qareen commented.

Landon struggled int he grip as he listened. "Shut up. You're weak." Landon stated before the Qareen snapped his neck.

Tears dropped down your face as you watched his limp body fall. "Landon! No!" You screamed, Lizzie still holding you. Yes, you remembered he was a Phoenix but it doesn't mean it doesn't hurt when he dies. With the amount of loss that you've experienced, it never gets easier.

Lizzie moved to be in front of you, locking eyes with you as tears stained your cheeks. "Kate, stay calm, okay?" Lizzie stated, calming.

She then wrapped her arms around you as she stood beside you, it was like a side hug. "I got this, Kate." Wade randomly said, you all then turned to look at Wade. "Landon made sure of it." Wade finished, cheers erupting into the hall as people chanted his name.

You wiped your stained cheeks as you watched Wade walking to be in front of everyone. Wade then lifted his wings, a mist coming out of them as it then attacked the Qareen.

The fairy mist then killed the Qareen, causing the Sand clock to start falling to the floor. Hope reacted fast and brought the Sand clock towards her with magic, catching it as it Landon in her chest.

You moved out of the crowd forming around Wade as you kneeled beside Landon, checking him over, worried. Once a loud crack was heard, everything went quiet and all the attention was on the Sand clock.

————

Lizzie, Josie, you, Hope and other witches were sat outside to help the twins with this Sand clock. "Working together. That's what Coven Day is all about." Emma started while Lizzie and Josie placed the last pieces for the ascendentes down.

"It's only when witches are alone that we're truly in danger. But together we are strong and can cast spells that none of us would be able to do ourselves." Emma continued, all the witches holding hands, you and Hope specifically interlacing them.

You then looked over at Alyssa who was on your right. "Hey, I'm sorry about before with what I said. You know, the monster..." You trailed off.

Alyssa shook her head, slightly smiling. "I deserved it." Alyssa chuckled. "I'm gonna try to turn down the jerk." Alyssa continued, causing you to smile and grab each others hand to do the spell.

Josie and Lizzie then softly spoke to each other as then moved to be in the circle. "Now, witches, focus on assembling these pieces into a new ascendant that will lead to a new prison world." Emma explained, the twins starting to siphon magic. Everyone's eyes closed so they could focus better.

The pieces then flew up into the air, creating the new ascendant for the Sand clock. It then slowly fell to the floor. "One spell down." Josie stated happily.

"One to go." Lizzie finished her sentence.

Josie then moved to grab the ascendent. "Well done, witches, well done, but it's not over." Alyssa then grabbed the ascendent and handed it to Josie. "We must pull together and channel our energy as one to banish the Sandclock before it breaks." Emma explained more.

Alyssa and Josie kept eye contact. "We all got to stick together, right?" She asked, earning a smile and nod from Josie.

Josie walked back to get Lizzie to stand with her in the middle of the circle for the spell. Josie then opened the Bennett blood vial and poured it on the ascendent, then closing it.

Josie and Lizzie held the ascendent together while letting then hands be on top of the Sand clock. The witches then closed their eyes. "Sangiema Meam Et Nos Mundo Carcerema. Sangiema Meam Et Nos Mundo Carcerema. Sangiema-" You all chanted.

A light then emitted, causing the witches to open their eyes to see if it worked. Once you all realised the Sand clock was in fact gone, you all smiled. "We did it. It's gone." Josie stated, the twins smiling at each other and hugging each other.

You and Hope smiled at each other, happy for the twins. You both started walking forward, smiling at the twins before walking a bit away. "Hey, I'm gonna go check on Landon then come to your room since I still don't like Alyssa." You laughed, Hope joining in.

You went to walk off but she stopped you. "Kate." She called, you looked back at her, confused. "I love you." She said, causing you to smile sheepishly at her as a blush came to your cheeks.

"Love you, too." You replied, now walking into the school. After a while of searching you found Landon in the gym, punching a punching bag. "That jab is coming along, and I mean really coming along." You stated as you walked into the gym.

Landons topped and looked back at you, smiling. "I have a good teacher." He stated, going back to punching.

You felt bad for what you said to him because of the monster. "Before, I-I said some things-"

Landon then cut you off. "Ah-ah-" Landon stated,s topped you. "We both had monster brain. We can forget all about that." Landon continued.

You let out a sigh. "I can't." You sadly stated. "And, um... as much as it hurts to say this..." You let out a sigh you didn't know you were holding. "...um, what I said was true." Landon then looked back at you, confused. "Oh god... look, I love you, Landon, okay? In every possible way a sibling can." You paused.

After a few seconds, you continued. "I love that you can't take a punch because then I have an excuse to make fun of you." You stated, earning a small laugh from him. "I... I love that you won today only using your brain and voice, not brawn, and I love that you always try to fit in a be better." You explained, tears coming yo your eyes.

Landon didn't take his eyes off of you while you spoke, wanting to see where this was going. "But, um, I don't want you to be the hero, Landon." You finally said what you wanted too. "Th-The hero's never left standing and always dies." Landon looked at the ground. "I'm not gonna train you to fight anymore. Not if the monsters are back." You finished.

Landon then looked back up, a smile coming onto his face. "Well, I'm not stopping. If you won't train me, I'll find someone who will, so that we're both standing at the end of this." Landon then turned around, going back to punching the punching bag.

You couldn't stand the thought of loosing Landon and you talking to him right now obviously didn't sink in so you turned around and walked off. after roaming the halls after speaking to Landon, you decided to go to the twins instead of Hope to talk. You cleared your throat as you entered. "Got room for one more in this misery pile?" You questioned.

The twins moved onto each side of the bed, allowing you to sit in the middle and lay between them. You moved at did just that, letting out a sigh as you laid down. "I think Landon hates me." You commented, looking at the ceiling, but just then, something felt off when a bright light appeared and the three of you were gone.

During that, Hope had gone looking for you since you didn't show up and she had assumed you were with the twins but when she realised the twins weren't in their room like they were supposed to be, she rushed to your room and saw you weren't there either.

She searched and searched for the ascendent since she knew this was Alyssas doing, once finding it, she sat on Alyssas bed. Alyssa walked through the door and once she saw Hope holding the ascendent, she knew she had messed up. "Matus!" Hope exclaimed, crashing Alyssa into the wall. "I think we need to have a chat about magic and ascendentes." She said, walking closer to Alyssa who was stuck on the wall. "What the hell did you do?" Hope asked angrily.

Meanwhile you, Lizzie and Josie had crashed onto the floor, once realising what happened and you weren't on the bed, you ran to the main area. "Dad?" Lizzie asked. "Where are we?" Lizzie questioned, confused.

Alaric walked in front of us. "We're in a prison world." He stated.

Josie was confused when he said that, in fact you all were. "I thought you said the worlds would be identical." Josie stated.

"It's..." He trailed off. "...not the one you made today. It's-it's the one you made when you were kids." Alaric finished, meaning the one Josie and Lizzie made since you've never made once until tonight.

It was quiet for a few. "Why are we here?" Josie questioned.

"I'm guessing Alyssa Chang wants to teach me a lesson." Alaric responded. "But it doesn't explain why Kate is here." Alaric continued.

Lizzie cocked her head to the side a little. "For what?" She breathed out.

"The miseducation of young minds." The familiar voice of Sebastian stated.

You three looked back at him. "Sebastian?" Lizzie asked, happy and confused why he was here.

"Hello, Elizabeth." he greeted, walking down the stairs. "Fancy meeting you here." He continued, Lizzie turning back to stare at her father.
