RECAP

Landon got up and stared at Sebastian as he held his hands towards his head and took some steps away. "Stop!" Lizzie exclaimed, extremely worried. "Stop! Let him go!" Lizzie continued, walking down the steps and rushing to the front of the witches.

Sebastian panted as he was exhausted from the pain and fell to the floor, weak. He then stood up after gaining some strength, staring at Lizzie with a scared but sad expression before walking down the steps and vamp speeding away.

Lizzie looked at Landon who also looked at her, although Lizzie looked down, angry and upset at herself.

Landon walked into the gym, finding Sebastian hitting fighting posts with a sword as if he was stabbing a pirate. He then acted as if he stabbed one of the posts behind him and looked up at Landon, turning around. "Have you come to gloat, Landon?" He questioned, going for another stab.

Landon stayed quiet before shifting his weight onto his other foot, uncomfortable with how the vampire was acting. "I just wanted to see if you were okay." Landon responded, going to walk away, stopping when Sebastian spoke up.

"The fundamental truth is that I am not." Sebastian started, turning to look at Landon while Landon looked back at Sebastian, both of them locking eye contact. "When I was eight years old, my parents, they sold me to a merchant ship." He started explaining. "I hated that life, so every port we sailed to, I ran away. But the crew, they always found me again." He paused, the memories coming back to him.

"And they devised very special punishments for me." Sebastian then became quiet again, smiling slightly. "This is a cruel world, Landon, and I expect very little from it." He then started walking towards Landon. "But Elizabeth wants me, and I want her, too. I guess none of that matters now since I failed your test." He stated as he placed the sword on one of the sticks on the post and walked out, leaving Landon alone.

You and Josie sat in a dark room together. After Josie lit the candles on her side, she handed you the matches for you to light your candles. Once blowing out the fire on the match after lighting the last candle, Josie grabbed a little bit of leaves and sprinkled them in the square where the Hour Glass is.

Both of you looked up and each other, crossing over your arms and holding them as Josie started siphoning magic from you. You both closed your eyes, waiting for the spell to be over. A blue mist moved from your hands to the Hour Glass.

Once the spell left your hands, you and Josie opened your eyes and disconnected your hands watching the blue mist. "It's actually kind of beautiful." You softly stated.

"I guess. If you can look past the visions of doom." Josie immediately responded, looking up at you. "Thank you for doing this. I couldn't have done this without you." Josie said, it was like she was pointing out that she wanted to do this with you and no one else.

You looked up at her, moving ti lean on your right hand. "No, thank you." You responded. "This is the most normal I've felt all day since I've come back." You explained to Josie. You hesitated before speaking again. "Y-You should know, Hope also told me from Vincent that the Sand clock degrades over time." You paused. "Meaning that at some point, it's going to break down from the inside out no matter what we do." You explained what Hope had told you.

You then looked down at the Sand clock. "But this will at least give us some time to figure out how to stop that from actually ever happening." You finished speaking, hoping Josie understood.

Josie looked down at the Sand clock before back up. "Why did Clarke choose me?" She questioned, generally confused.

You moved from leaning to sitting crossed legged. "Well... you're a trusting a person." You started. "And in my opinion, you're more powerful than you think." You finished saying why you think Clarke chose her.

"I don't want to be either of those things." Josie commented, obviously not wanting that for herself. "The second that he had me doing black magic, my head... it's like it's not mine anymore." Josie explained, you looked down as that's how you are feeling, excluding the black magic. "I get upset more easily, I'm on edge.... Jealous." She finished, obviously meaning jealous about you because of Landon.

You looked back up at her, sad with how she was feeling. "It's not all the magic." You commented, it becoming quiet. "When I got out of Malivore, I um, I came here. It was the first place I wanted to be." You started explain tears already coming to your eyes. "You guys were the first people I wanted to see. So... I snuck onto campus." You continued.

After pausing for a while, you continued. "Um... Hope and Landon were having a movie night, or something at the Mill. I saw Hope..." You trailed off as the memory replayed in your head.

Josie felt tears well in her eyes as she felt bad for you. "Kate..." She trailed off.

You let out a small sigh. "They both looked so happy. And I was so jealous." You nodded, biting your bottom lip to stop your heart aching even though Hope would never do that to you. "If the wrong person crossed my path in that moment, I can't imagine the damage I would have done that night." You explained, your voice breaking. "But when I was at the rugby match and saw that you and Landon were together I was so confused." You lightly laughed.

Josie then smiled, laughing as well. Once the laughter died down, Josie spoke up. "How did you move past it?" Josie questioned, meaning the jealousy.

"I... tried to move on, going to a different school and everything." You started to answer her question. "And I got a lot of that wrong, too. Obviously. But that doesn't mean we can't try again." You continued. Josie smiled again, earning you to smile back.

Landon knocked on the door of Alarics office, to which he entered and saw that the headmaster was reading a book. Alaric closed the book and looked up at Landon. Out of curiosity, the curly haired boy decided to question what book it was. "What are you reading?"

Alaric let out a small laugh. "It's a book Dorian got me. It's about a band of marauding pirate vampires." He leaned forward on his desk, placing the book down while leaning forward.

Landon now stood in front of his desk, finding himself messing with his hands. "Sounds high concept." He replied jokingly. His mind then went back to what he was going to talk to the headmaster about. "Uh, we finished the tour... tests, whatever." He stated.

Alaric looked between his eyes. "And?" He questioned.

Landon looked down, letting his arms fall down to his side. "Sebastian's no more dangerous than anyone else at this school." He replied truthfully.

Alaric let out a small laugh before inhaling. "Well, I am surprised to hear that. Thank you, Landon." Alaric sincerely replied.

The student nodded his head once in appreciation to Alarics 'Thank you'. Alaric then opened the book, Landon turned around to walk away before talking again. "For whatever it's worth, coming from the guy who stole a magical artifact that kick-started the apocalypse..." Landon looked back at Alaric. "...sometimes people just need a chance to get things right." Landon explained.

Alaric chuckled at Landons choice of words but didn't say anything. Landon took that as his time to leave the office and leave Alaric alone to read his book. Little did Landon know, Alaric was reading the book about Sebastian five hundred years ago.

Alaric checked the locator spell to see where Sebastian was and after seeing where he was, he didn't take a second to think about it and grabbed his cross bow. He found Sebastian feeding on a human. Alaric went into hunter mode and shot the cross bow into his back, causing Sebastian to let go of the dead women and hold his back in pain.

Alaric reloaded the cross bow in case Sebastian did anything. Sebastian turned around, groaning in pain, now leaning against a tree. "You seem pleased with yourself." He commented, groaning once again. "How did you find me?" He questioned, upset he was found.

"You think I'm gonna let you walk around my school without an active locator spell?" Alaric questioned sarcastically. "I know who you are now. And I can't let you loose in the world. But I know even vampires can change. So, I'm gonna give you a chance to prove me wrong about you. But you're gonna have to follow my rules." Alaric explained.

Sebastian looked between his eyes, thinking he was choking but all he saw was seriousness. "I don't follow orders anymore." He responded.

"Then you're gonna have to go back in the box." Alaric immediately stated.

Sebastian was quiet for a second before chuckling lightly. "I'll just get out again." The vampire stated. "And it will be your daughter who sets me free." He continued. Alaric didn't respond and instead was confused. "Yeah, you see, I can control her mind. Oh, how I love that control." Sebastian was now teasing the father.

"I've had her, you know. All over your school. Mm-hmm, yes. No matter what you do or where you go, you will not be able to protect her from me." Sebastian continued to get on Alarics nerves but Alaric was keeping his composure and didn't get mad at the vampire. Alaric was mad but he wasn't going to let Sebastian get a reaction from him. "And you will fail as her father over and over and over again. The only way is to kill me." Sebastian finished.

He then started lifting himself weakling off the tree, only for Alaric to raise the cross bow at Sebastian, ready to shoot if necessary.

After helping Josie, you spent the rest of your day doing classes and bored out of your mind. All you could think about was spending the night in Hopes room away from Alyssa Chang, that is if Hope still remembered inviting you over.

Once reaching your room, you opened the door, expecting no one to be in there but when you looked up, you saw Josie and Landon all on your side of the room. You stopped in the door away, looking at them confused. "What's going on?" You questioned, then took a look a round your bed, seeing it all decorative. "And what's all this?" You questioned again, smiling slightly.

Landon and Josie looked at you. "Just... a little something to make you feel more at home." Landon spoke up. The smile on your face grew as you walked into the room more, Landon walking around Josie to stand next to her.

You looked around the room to see fairly lights hung up, your name on the wall, photos of you and Landon, the one photo of you and your dad and mom and so many other things. "It's not exactly how it was, but we thought you might like it if we changed it up a little bit." Josie commented, you looking at her.

You let out a small laugh as brought them in for a hug, happiness taking over you. "Thank you, guys. That means a lot." You whispered to them.
