RECAP

Just then someone called out. "Hey!" The familiar voice of Rafael was heard. You and Hope looked over and started walking towards him as he started walking towards you two. "Kate? Hope?" He questioned.

You smiled, happy to see him but because of Malivore he doesn't remember who you were and why you are happy. Hope also smiled seeing you were happy to see him. "Hey Raf." You responded.

The three of you came to a stop in front of each other. "I was hoping to see you tonight." Rafael stated only to you while you stayed quiet, unsure why he wanted too and feeling a weird sensation in your stomach for how Hope would think about that. "Do you... wanna party with us?" He questioned, he seemed a bit drunk but not much.

You weren't sure whether you wanted to stay or go but you decided to stay. "Sure. As long as Hope tags along." You responded confidently. Rafael nodded, okay with Hope coming. The three of you walking side by side to the party and enjoying the rest of the night.

Josie was outside the Salvatore residence, waiting for the door to be answered. Just then Elena opened the door. "Josie? What are you doing here?" Elena questioned, moving out of the way so the girl can come inside.

"Elena? Who's at the door?" Elenas husband, Damon, was heard from inside the kitchen.

Elena had a small smile as Damon called out. "It's Josie." She called back. "Come, sit down." She stated and Josie sat down at the dining table.

Damon  and Elena watched the younger girl. "So what are you doing here, Josie?" Damon questioned.

Josie looked between the two adults. "So-" Josie didn't know where to start. "D-Do you have any photos in your home of someone you don't recognise?" Josie questioned but spoke again before they could answer. "It feels like you know them, but you don't?" She continued.

Elena was confused but looked over at Damon to see his reaction. Damon didn't feel like saying anything as of yet about you as he figured that where Josie was going with this. "How did you know that?" Elena questioned as she did have a photo of Tyler with a toddler in his hands.

You were with Ethan doing something with paper in the town square for Commonwealth Day. "Ow!" You exclaimed as you gave yourself a paper cut, looking at your finger before sighing. You heard Ethan laughing softly and looked over at him with a serious face. "I have done that like five times." You stated, turning back to the paper. "Is it possible to die from a paper cut?" You questioned, annoyed.

Ethan looked back down at what he was doing. "Careful. That's the best arm in town now." Ethan joked, causing you to laugh but shake your hand to make the 'pain' go away. "Let me see." He said and you gave your hand to him while he examined it. "Yeah. It's fatal." He joked with you.

You looked up at him with a 'are you serious' face before a smile took over both your faces. "Hey! You two!" Some old man called, the both of you looking over at him. "Quit slacking." he stated, resting his arms on his waist. "Tomorrow's festivities will not be thrown off by hormonal teenagers." He explained.

You looked down as that was embarrassing as you had a girlfriend. "Sure thing, Councilman." Ethan responded, the old man leaving. "Sure thing, Councilman. Ruined by an old, white guy politician, though? Totally plausible." Ethan whispered to you, causing you to laugh. "How did that guy win an election?" He questioned.

Moving behind him to the either side, you decide to respond. "Democracy isn't what it used to be." You stated, sounding smart and moving to another table. "Besides, he's got me all wrong." You continued.

Ethan was a bit confused. "What do you mean?" He questioned you.

You looked up into his eyes. "I mean that he doesn't understand my relationship status." You responded, being vague is a good look on you and you like it. Ethan was extremely confused but ignored it.

You walked away and to another table to grab some stuff. He then let out a sigh while you heard a bag being grabbed. "Hey, I got to head to practice." He stated.

You looked back up, confused. "But you're hurt." You stated as you turned around.

He was now holding a bag for training. "I can still help the team win." He responded.

"Gotcha." You smiled. "See you after?" You asked as you two were friends.

Ethan looked between your eyes. "Not unless you're coming to physical therapy with me. Life's a real party these days." He stated and you just giggled at the comment before he started to walk off. "You ever want to see me, you should probably just ask me out." He said before officially walking off. Causing you to think about what you said earlier to him about your relationship status.

You laughed this time before feeling a hand grab your leg, causing you to get scared a gasp at the sudden shock. Just then Lizzie appeared. "Don't 'gah' me. Get your ass under here." You were annoyed now but listened and got under the table.

As you moved to sit down, you saw Hope and smiled at her apologetically as you know she heard the conversation, but you then turned back to Lizzie, your smile fading. "What are you doing?" You questioned harshly to Lizzie and Hope but more aimed towards Lizzie.

Lizzie looked between your eyes. "Looking for you." Lizzie pointed out the obvious. "You were supposed to be keeping an eye on the portal to Malivore." Lizzie stated, obviously not happy with the way you were doing it.

You scoffed and rolled your eyes. "I'm literally on top of it." You responded to the blonde.

Lizzie looked down at the portal before looking back up. "Not on top of it enough." Lizzie went to ramble but Hope stopped her.

She gained your attention and decided to speak. "A zombie snuck onto campus this morning." She briefly explained.

"I mean, are you sure it's from the portal? I've been here all night." You stated and questioned the two.

Lizzie rested her head on her hand. "It has the mark of Malivore carved into its skull. It's obviously from the portal." She responded. You looked away from Lizzie and down at the portal. "Maybe you were too busy flirting with the muggle." Lizzie commented, straining the 'le'.

You and Hope both looked up at Lizzie with a serious face. "I wasn't flirting." You said defensively, as you glanced over at Hope. Lizzie wasn't impressed. "I was blending in." You continued.

Hope let out a groan as Lizzie started talking again. "Hey, by all means, flirt away." Lizzie stated, you almost gaging when she said that as Hope was right there and the though of being with someone else sickened you.

"I think you forgot she have a girlfriend." Hope reminded your cousin.

Lizzie looked at Hope and rolled her eyes. "Fine, call it carrying. The faster you stop carrying about Landon since you don't want him to remember you, the sooner I can stop worrying about Josie's happiness." Lizzie explained.

You squinted your eyes at her. "First of all: He's my brother so I'm obviously gonna care about him, second: if I was a vampire I'd have to turn it off to not care about him." You explained, Hope nodding in agreement. You decided to change the subject. "Explain about the zombie." You stated to Lizzie and Hope.

You moved to you could cross your legs and be more comfortable. "We locked the zombie up, which means no more portal duty is required, and you, Hope and I can hang out today." Lizzie stated, really happy for some reason.

Looking over at Hope to see she was as confused as you were made you look back at Lizzie. "Why is that last part harder for me to understand than all the rest?" You questioned in a monotone voice.

Lizzie didn't seem fazed by your remark. "If I spend any more time with Josie, I will inevitably blow your secret." You fake smiled at Lizzie and let out a sigh. "You want to protect her from heartbreak, you're stuck with me and Hope." Lizzie continued.

"Okay. And for the record, I'd rather be spending it with Hope and not you." You responded.

Lizzie shrugged while Hope giggled. "Figured." She responded.

Both you and Hope stopped what you were doing while Lizzie watched. "Heartbreak?" You and Hope questioned at the same time as you both got out. Lizzie ignored you and Hope, acting as if she said nothing. The three of you then started walking away to the right, going somewhere to 'hang out'.

Josie wasn't sure what to say so she stayed quiet but Damon spoke for her. "Would you like me to go get you something to drink?" He asked to break the awkwardness.

Elena looked over at Damon. "Um, yeah, can I have some water, please?" Josie asked and Damon nodded and got out of his seat. Elena also did to talk to her husband while she made a coffee.

Elena looked over at Josie then to her husband. "She's hiding something." Elena told Damon. Damon was relieved that she didn't think he was hiding something but how he was wrong. "And so are you." She continued.

Damon let out a sigh before looking a his wife. "I know who she is talking about, but the thing is, I have no memory of her and that I met her a few days ago." Damon explained.

"If I had to guess it's that photo of Tyler holding a toddler?" Elena guessed and Damon nodded, approving she had gotten her guess right. The two were about to walk back when they saw Josie was gone and was looking at the exact photo they were talking about. Elena placed down her coffee on the dining table and walked over to Josie. "Who is she?" She questioned.

Josie scared at the sudden appearance of Elena behind her, she turned around to look her in the eyes. "I knew you were hiding something from me." She slightly smiled before she got serious. "So tell me, how is it we both forgot the same person?" Elena questioned the younger girl.

Damon moved from the dining table to stand next to his wife, sending an apologetic look towards Josie for Elenas sudden questions. "And if you didn't tell me that to begin with, I can only assume it's because you were scared to tell us. Weren't you?" She stated, getting a bit angry with Josies secrecy. "Who is that girl?" Elena questioned again.

Josie gripped the book in her hand, siphoning the magic. "Harae-tamai Kioku Yomigaerashi-tamae!" Josie chanted, raising her hand towards the two in front of her, knocking the two out from the gust of black magic. A loud thud emerging from them hitting the floor.

It's the next day and you, Lizzie and Hope were now in front of a dead human. "When I said that I wanted to hang out, this is not what I had in mind." Lizzie complained.

Hope shook her hand in front of her face to get the smell away which didn't work while you pinched your nose to not breathe in the smell. "Who even found him?" You exclaimed, your voice sounding weird because of you holding your nose. "Or what's left of him?" You questioned again.

Lizzie and Hope didn't take their eyes off of the body. "Alyssa Chang on her morning jog." Lizzie replied.

"Good thing, too. Otherwise, this place would be crawling with police." Hope stated as she crossed her arms.

You lowered your arms as you were going to have to deal with the smell. "What kind of monster do you think we're dealing with?" Lizzie questioned you and Hope but also herself.

Your eyes trailed to the door to the left of you that had words written on it. "A Croatoan." You read off the door.

Lizzie rolled her eyes. "How do you know that?" Lizzie questioned, annoyed that you guessed already.

You let out a soft groan. "Call it a hunch." You replied in a monotone voice to Lizzie.
