Screw Endgame

Part 2

RECAP

You didn't know Hope did that. "My dad is lonely. Raf's a mess again, and apparently I'm hallucinating boyfriends." You had a slight questioning face on as Lizzie said that. "If my broken mind can remember you, then maybe that spell Josie did could bring everyone's memories back." Lizzie explained. "Yes, you and Hope are made for each other, but the love you have for your siblings will be just as powerful, trust me, I know." Lizzie stated, causing you to smile.

"Also we need to stop Josie and Landon from doing the the deed, fast." Lizzie now finished.

She then started walking off in a direction, you following and your smile disappearing as your face went to one of confusion again. "You hallucinated a boyfriend?" You questioned.

Lizzie looked over at you with a 'are you serious' face before hitting her leg into a trip wire, two darts flying into your necks. "Tell you in a second." Lizzie said before you both passed out and fell to the ground.

————

Hope walked into the room where Kaleb, MG and Ric are. Every single one looked at her. "Sorry. I don't mean to interrupt." She said as she started leaving.

"Hope, wait." Alaric called out and she stopped, turning around and walking back to be closer. "What do you think about resurrecting a vampire thats been desiccated for god knows how long and then just deciding to wake him up?" Alaric questioned the younger girl.

Hope gave a confused looked before finding her answer. "That's probably not a safe idea." She responded to the older man.

Kaleb and MG looked away from hope while Alaric smiled slightly. "Thank you, Hope." Alaric replied.

Hope was extremely confused but ignored it none the less. "You're welcome?" She questioned before leaving, now going to search for you.

————

"I know you don't want to think about this, but the real world isn't resetting like this stupid one is, which means we are rapidly approaching Josie's unexpected journey there and back again." Lizzie stated in the most weirdest way possible. Lizzie looked over at you before down. "Bear trap." She said, the both of you jumping over it.

You rolled your eyes. "Once again, I don't care about his sex life." You responded, before looking over at Lizzie. "And I'm not gonna tell him or the school about me." You continued.

Now Lizzie rolled her eyes. "Ugh. Why not?" She questioned you.

You looked ahead of you. "Because it's not gonna change anything." You responded a bit harshly, chuckling a little. "Arrow." You called, the both os you coming to a stop and an arrow flying right in front of you two but luckily hit the tree.

The guy known as Frank spoke up. "Sorry!" He yelled.

Lizzie licked her tongue. "Be more careful next time, Frank!" Lizzie yelled back, the both of you walking forward and under the around. "It would change everything." Lizzie kept trying to convince you.

You looked up to see where you were going so you could stop being hunched over. "No, it wont." You responded. "When I saw that portal, I knew that there was only one way to stop the monsters from coming." You started to explain to the blonde. "I'm just gonna have to jump back in and close it. Everyone's just gonna forget me all over again." You both came to a stop and faced each other. "Hope and I were created to be the loophole that ends Malivore." You stated.

You looked between her eyes, being extremely honest. "It's the only reason we exist. It's our destiny but now that I've taken that role onto me so she wouldn't have too." You continued explaining.

Just then roaring was heard and the bull thing was coming. You and Lizzie looked at each other once again. "Run!" Lizzie said and you both started running to get away from it, a circle of spears trapping it for now.

You and Lizzie dodging some more spears so you don't 'reset'. "Come on. The school should be right through here." Lizzie stated as you both went through some bushes but only ended up in the town square again.

The both of you looked at each other annoyed that you went all that way for nothing. "Oh, hey!" The girl from before said, fast walking as she looked at you both. "Ready to take that deal yet?" She cockily said.

She then continued walked and you and Lizzie started following. "I'm ready to take this maze and shove it up your-" Lizzie was about to say something, only to get cut off.

"Maze?" The keeper questioned. "Oh, no, this isn't a maze. It's a labyrinth. Know the difference?" She questioned quickly.

Lizzie rolled her eyes. "Do I look like a nerd?" She responded.

The girl responded making a 'hmm' sound. "A maze has multiple paths, a labyrinth only has one." You explained.

She didn't even look back at you two and just kept walking. "Exactly. As I said before, there's only one way this is going to end." You and Lizzie started slowing down and the girl kept walking.

Lizzie glanced at you before back to the keeper. "Granted, her legs are amazing, but she is a royal bitch." She stated, a few seconds later looking at you. "What are we gonna do?" She questioned.

You let out an aggravated sigh. "We take the deal." You stated, looking over at her. "And I stay behind." Lizzie had a look of disbelief on her face. "It has to be me. I'll take her place and then you can be set free." You said before Lizzie could say anything to try and change your mind.

"See? Capital M-artyr complex, Kate." Lizzie argued.

You looked between her eyes. "The Minotaur travels with the Keeper, right?" You questioned. "So if I stay behind, it'll be trapped with me. And since the monsters only come one at a time, no other monsters ever will." You stated, Lizzie not saying anything. "Besides, it's not like anyone's gonna know I'm gone." You continued. "Except you and Hope." You finished, looking down away from Lizzies hurt face.

————

Hope walked into the room where the party was being held, she couldn't find you anywhere, not in town square, not at Mystic Falls High, heck she even searched the school and couldn't find you. At this moment she was starting to get worried and more worried she couldn't find you, even a locator spell didn't work and she doesn't want to assume the worst.

Rafael walked up to Hope, sitting down next to her. "How was your day?" He asked Hope.

Hope looked down before over at him. "Pretty boring. I spent most of the day trying to find Lizzie." Hope lied about who she was searching for.

Rafael nodded, letting out a small chuckle. "Heh, I spent most of the day searching for Kate." Rafael stated and Hope was a bit confused why he'd want Kate but remembered he started getting a little obsessed, yes she's your girlfriend but none of them remember that. "I sent her a letter asking her if she wanted to come to the dance... she never responded so I wondered if something happened." Rafael then trailed off.

Hope let a small sigh out. "But you think she's ran off and left." Hope finished his sentence, Rafael nodding in response.

It was silent for a while but then Rafael got up. "Enjoy your night, Hope Mikaelson." Rafael smiled at Hope.

Hope watched him and smiled back. "You too, Rafael Waithe." She responded, Rafael then walking off.

Hope then started letting her mind wonder. Was your disappearance related to Lizzies? Had Lizzie found out about you and if so how? Had Malivore sent a monster after you?

Hope didn't want to think about that last question as it worried her about what monster could have been sent after you. The auburn haired girl then moved to get some punch as she didn't want to think about it.

————

The both of you were sat on a rock, both sharpening wood to make a spear to fight against the bull thing.

Just then Lizzie spoke up. "I get why you think you need to take the deal, though." Lizzie looked over at you, you looking up at her as she said that. "I exist for one reason, too: merge with my sister." She threw the spear onto the floor and stopped. "That's our destiny, right?" She questioned.

You weren't sure what to say so you stayed quiet. Lizzie then started getting up. "Unless I stayed here in a no-magic zone. Maybe the merge wouldn't have to happen, and Josie would be safe." Lizzie stated.

You let out a soft groan as you threw your spear onto the floor. "There's no way I'm gonna let you do that." You responded, resting your arms on your legs as you looked up at her before looking down at the wood.

Lizzie stayed quiet. "I know." Was all she said and it confused you that she agreed with you but you didn't say anything. You heard her hand touch something but ignored it and rubbed your hands on your legs, but soon you felt your head get hit and you were knocked out, darkness filling your eyes. "But you're not the only one who can be a martyr." Was the last thing you heard Lizzie say.

Lizzie then quickly grabbed tree branches and covered you with them before making her way to the keeper to take the offer, she found her playing video games. She looked over at Lizzie before speaking up. "I knew you were the smart one." Was all she said.

Lizzie crossed her arms. "Let's just get this over with." She responded, feeling bad about what she had done to you.

The girl was already back to playing the arcade game. "Oh! Don't worry, it's not so bad being the Keeper." She started explaining. "And one day, maybe you'll find someone to take your place." She looked over at Lizzie.

"I would never do that." Lizzie stated.

The keeper clicked her tongue. "Aw. I told myself the exact same thing." She laughed before finishing off her game and turning to face Lizzie, taking her bracelet off. "Be careful with it. It's fragile. And if it breaks, you are not protected from the Minotaur anymore." She explained, placing it on the table beside them.

Lizzie had lowered her arms. "And my cousin gets out, right?" She questioned the 'former' keeper.

The girl hesitated for a bit before responding. "She is set free from the eternal pain of the labyrinth, yes." She explained carefully to the blonde in front.

Lizzie looked her up and down. "That was very carefully worded." Lizzie commented.

The keeper tried keeping herself from breaking but broke anyway. "She dies, okay? That's what that means." Lizzie was shocked with what she heard as she scoffed and her mouth hung open, you would die and Lizzie would live, that sounded terrible to her even if you became the keeper. "Uh- just think of it this way: either she dies or you both do." She pointed out. "It's self-preservation, kiddo." She stated.

Lizzie was disgusted as she didn't want you dying. "You're sick." She said to the much older women.

"You know, when I first took this deal, the previous Keeper told me that this entire labyrinth was built by a sorcerer centuries ago to punish a beautiful maiden who refused his affections." The girl started a explanation to Lizzie.

"Because she didn't exist just for him, he punished her forever. But she got out. She traded places with another woman who came along, who then trapped another woman, and so on and so forth." Lizzie was utterly grossed out by this and she didn't want to take the deal anymore. "I mean, you can't really blame us for trying to escape, can you?" She laughed. "It's every woman for herself. That's the game." She finished.

Lizzie face contorted to a face of 'I don't care' and grabbed the bracelet, she acted as if she went to put it on before letting out a sigh and placed it back on the table, picking up a phone and smashed the bracelet, the girl next to her was shocked when Lizzie kept smashing it before stopping and placing the phone down and looking up at the women.

Lizzie had a smirk on her face. "I guess no one is the Keeper now." Lizzie stated. "I hope you know your maze as well as we do." Lizzie was about to turn around but faked gasped. "Sorry, 'Labyrinth'." She said with cockiness a which she earned a cocky glance back from the 'former' Keeper and started walking off, happy with herself.

You then regained consciousness as you groaned and took the branches off of you. You held your head but just then a roar of the bull thing was heard. You quickly got up and grabbed one of the spears you made.

You watched as the bull thing started running towards you, you broke the branch in half on your leg getting ready to fight it but just then the bull was shot with an arrow in the back of the head.

Looking up from the body that slid in front of you, you saw Lizzie lowering the bow., happiness took over your anger towards Lizzie. "Where did you get that?" You questioned as you slightly smiled. A guy then appeared behind Lizzie. "Who's he?" You questioned.

Lizzie also had a smile on her face. "This is Frank." She stated, handing the bow to him. "Thanks for your help." You just nodded your head.

"Thanks." Frank said before walking off.

Lizzie then started walking towards you, your smiles grew a bit bigger but then you let your head dropped before looking back up at your cousin. "I thought you were taking the deal." You stated, sadness in your voice.

Lizzie kept walking forward. "I realized it would be perpetuating the patriarchy. There's always someone telling women they only exist for one reason." Lizzie then started slowing down as she was closer to you, you had a small smile on your face now. "We even told it to ourselves." She stopped. "I am done playing that game." Just then a groaning noise from the bull was heard.

It started to slowly get up, you looked at Lizzie. "Screw endgame." You raised an eyebrow as you drove the wood through it's head, both of you returning to the start every time you restarted.

The both of you lifted yourselves up. The girl from before also came back and was laughing. "You've found another way. You killed the Minotaur." She stated, that's what it was called? You just called it a bull. You and Lizzie looked over at each other and smiled. "Thank you." She stated.

Lizzie started getting up, you also getting up with her. "Not that you deserved it." Lizzie stated as she now stood in front of the girl. "And you definitely don't deserve this." She let her hand out for the girl to take, she obviously took it and got off the ground. "We've had enough of women hurting other women for one day." Lizzie turned around and looked back at you.

You had a smile on your face and it faded as you nodded and started walking off with Lizzie by your side. As you both came to a stop on the end of the road, you put your foot on the road and no car came zooming by as you both looked both ways before looking at each other and large smiles were plastered on your face as you both started running to the Salvatore School, laughing in happiness that you escaped and were free.

You and Lizzie made it to the Salvatore School, the dance happening obviously. You both walked into the dance and saw Landon and Josie kissing. "A sight I never thought I'd see." You commented as you watched the two kiss before looking at Lizzie.

Lizzie obviously didn't want her sister having sex with him but it's the way they feel for each other. "Hurt, we can still stop them." Lizzie took a step down the stairs.

You grabbed onto her arm and stopped her. "Wait." You said.

Lizzie looked up at you confused. "For what?" She questioned

You let out a sigh. "We have to let them go." You commented as you let go of her arm.

Lizzies face went from urgency to a sad, defeated face. "Are you sure?' She questioned.

You stayed quiet. "It's not like I have feelings for him, it's just that this is the first time I've seen him this happy and I don't want to ruin that." You explained as you looked between her eyes. She nodded in understanding.

The both of you were now at a table watching everyone dance, obviously with drinks. "I don't get it." Lizzie questioned. You looked over at her, confused. "We literally killed ourselves to get back here, and you couldn't go through with it." Lizzie stated.

You looked down before looking back up. "What you said before, about destiny, you were right." You commented. "You know, he and Josie, they look happy together. Like I do with Hope. Maybe there isn't only one way everything has to happen." You explained. "We don't exist for just one path." You finished.

Lizzie has a small smile. "And we don't exist for just one boy or girl or loophole, whatever." She commented.

You had a smile on your face as you nodded. "Let's dance." You toasted and Lizzie raised hers, you drinking your drink.

"Anything to keep me from picturing Josie's tragic visits to the Shire." Lizzie commented before drinking the rest of her drink.

You jokingly glared at her as she made that comment about Landon. The both of you placed your empty drinks back onto the table, you wiped your face as it spilt a little, then went onto the dance floor. "Hey." Lizzie called and you turned around. "If you tell this to anyone, I will deny it." Lizzie said, making you a bit confused. "But I'm glad to have you back." She finally said.

Your smile grew when she said that "ANd if you tell anyone this, I will deny it too but... I'm glad you remember me." You responded. You watched as Lizzies face softened.

Lizzie opened her arms which surprised you, your mouth hung open as she did that but you opened your arms and hugged her. The both of you laughing. Just then someone ran up and joined the hug, making you and Lizzie groan from the impact. "Where were you two?!" The familiar voice of Hope called.

You all got out of the hug and you and Lizzie looked at each other. "Long story short, a monster came and put us in a game, we escaped obviously." Lizzie explained. "Just be glad we're here." She yelled over the loud music.

Hope nodded, extremely confused. "All right, enough of that." You yelled. "Let's dance!" You repeated and the three of you did start dancing like no one was there.

The party was then taken outside to the old mill, Lizzie decided to go somewhere else while you and Hope went to the party. "I searched for you the whole day, you know." Hope said as you were walking through the woods.

You looked over at her. "Really?" You questioned and she nodded. "I was waiting for you, by the way, it's just the monster got there before you." You stated to Hope.

Hope looked over at you. "Hey, don't do that. I know you didn't mean for that to happen." Hope replied. "And I have a question: does Lizzie remember you?" She questioned while you nodded this time. "How?" She asked.

You shrugged. "I'm not sure but she said it might be from the black magic spell Josie did on her." You responded.

Just then someone called out. "Hey!" The familiar voice of Rafael was heard. You and Hope looked over and started walking towards him as he started walking towards you two. "Kate? Hope?" He questioned.

You smiled, happy to see him but because of Malivore he doesn't remember who you were and why you are happy. Hope also smiled seeing you were happy to see him. "Hey Raf." You responded.

The three of you came to a stop in front of each other. "I was hoping to see you tonight." Rafael stated only to you while you stayed quiet, unsure why he wanted too and feeling a weird sensation in your stomach for how Hope would think about that. "Do you... wanna party with us?" He questioned, he seemed a bit drunk but not much.

You weren't sure whether you wanted to stay or go but you decided to stay. "Sure. As long as Hope tags along." You responded confidently. Rafael nodded, okay with Hope coming. The three of you walking side by side to the party and enjoying the rest of the night.
