RECAP

The Japanese guy took out his sword and went to kill Rafael but he jumped over the sword and behind him. The guy spoke in Japanese and went to attack Rafael again. "Wait, no, no, no, no!" Alaric yelled, trying to stop the guy.

Rafael dodged all the attacks. "Motus!" You chanted and brought the sword out of the guys hand and catching it. They then did hand on hand combat but Rafael threw the guy into the bus, running off.

The guy spoke in Japanese, obviously winded and out of strength. You let go of the samurai sword and placed it on the ground. "He said that could've gone better." Josie looked back at all off you.

You, Alaric and Hope walked into the gym to see cheerleaders doing cheer things, the band and people on the bleachers cheering. You all came to a stop as you looked around. "Damn. I wonder if Raf already touched someone." Hope stated as she looked around.

Alaric nodded in agreement. "Yeah, just look for anyone acting strange or erratic." Alaric stated.

The football team was yelling while huddled into a circle. "Timberwolves! Timberwolves! Timberwolves! Timberwolves!" They all screamed.

You looked at them, just completely done. "You mean besides the football team?" You questioned, crossing your arms.

You all looked around until the police officer from before came up to you guys. "There's a student that needs your help." She stated as she walked towards all three of you, telling Ric.

The officer, known as Mac raised her arm and you immediately started following, Hope and Alaric following but not as fast a you. You were now in the boys locker room, Mac standing outside and in front of the door. "Raf?" You questioned as you saw him on the seat.

Reaching out your hand to grab him, Alaric posee up. "Kate, wait, don't touch him." Alaric state. You looked over at the both of them, before looking back at Raf.

You bent down to be somewhat eye level with him. "Raf." You whispered, him looking up. "Hey." You put a hand on his leg. "Oh, yeah, that's you, isn't it?" You questioned as you didn't feel a darkness take over.

Rafael breathed out heavily, smiling slightly. "Yeah." You looked between his eyes, thankful he was normal. "Um, I wasn't in control back there." Rafael whispered.

You nodded your head slightly. "It's okay. I-I-I... we can help you." You corrected yourself, knowing you can't do this alone. "We-We just- We just need to know if there's anyone that you've touched or who might've touched you." You continued.

Rafael stayed quiet for a bit. "Um... I don't remember any of it." He finished.

You looked down. "Okay." You breathed out, moving your hand off of his leg.

After leaving Rafael, you all turned a corner to run into Josie. She looked at all three of you. "Did you find Raf?" She questioned.

Alaric nodded. "Yeah. We sent him back to campus. The Oni wasn't in him, so it could be anywhere." He stated, looking down at you and Hope.

She seemed as if she was in a rush. "I'll find it. As long as you convince Landon not to sacrifice himself to stop this thing." Josie commented.

You widened your eyes when Josie said that. He wanted to sacrifice himself? "No!" You unintentionally said out loud. All three of them looked at you, Josie the only one confused. "Uh, no, he-he can't do that." You looked down, a little embarrassed. "I mean, we can't give the monster what it wants." You continued.

"Especially when what it wants is my boyfriend." Josie stated. You looked over at Hope, trying your best to hide your surprised face. "Who's only doing this because he thinks that it's all his fault." Josie looked at everyone.

You looked between Hopes eyes as you had a hand over your face so Josie doesn't see it. "Boyfriend?" Alaric questioned, confused.

Looking back up and containing your surprised face and a bit of excitement, you remained calm. "Why don't Hope and I try to talk some sense into him. Okay?" You stated, Hope agreeing with you. Josie started walking off and you all followed.

You and Hope walked into the office, Landon sitting on the window seal while watching the Japanese guy sleep, peacefully. "Hey." You said as you shut the door behind Hope. Landon got up off the window seal, confused how we got in. "Josie dropped the barrier spell so we could get in." You continued, both you and Hope walking forward.

It was quiet for a while until Hope spoke up. "There's a demon loose inside the school somewhere. We have to get you somewhere safe." Hope urgently spoke.

Landon looked between the two of you. "There is nowhere safe." He responded.

Hope looked at him a bit confused. "Okay, well, somewhere safer than here." Hope responded, scoffing.

You decided to cut in, picking up the samurai sword. "If this is the one thing that can kill an Oni, what if it's the one thing that can kill a phoenix, too?" You asked, worried for Landon. he then walked forward and took the sword out of your grasp and turning around. "Josie told me that you think the monsters being back is your fault." You paused, knowing this would hurt. "But it isn't." Hope rubbed your back for a few seconds, knowing you were speaking about yourself.

Landon glanced back at you and Hope. "What do you know about it?" He questioned.

You licked your lips, crossing your arms. "Too much." You gently scoffed. "Trust me, Landon, even though you might have the best intentions, not every sacrifice is worth it." You were speaking from experience but at the same time, you felt your sacrifice was worth it. "No matter how much you think it is." You finished.

Landon stayed quiet, unsure of what to say. "You said this isn't my fault?" He questioned, checking the samurai sword out.

You shook your head gently. "It isn't." You responded.

He then turned around fully. "Then whose is it?" He asked.

You breathed in and out, forgetting how stubborn Landon was. "That doesn't matter. We need to-" You replied, getting cut off.

"It matters to me." Landon cut you off.

You became quiet, Hope lowering her hand from your back. You knew your ere going to have to tell him eventually. "It's my fault. I'm the one that went into the pit. I thought it was the only way to save you and Hope." You honestly replied, not breaking eye contact, although you felt the eyes of Hope on the back of your head.

Landon looked at you confused. "Why would you want to save me?" He questioned, only mentioning himself and not Hope.

Glancing back at Hope you looked back into his eyes. "Because we were- we were friends." You lied, hoping he'd fall for it.

Landon walked forward a bit more, Hope also moving forward to stand by your side. "Come on, there had to be more to it than that." He stated. "Tell me." He practically ordered.

You looked over at Hope before back to Landon. "You're gonna hate me if I do." You responded.

He looked at Hope before back to you. "Let me make that decision for myself." He commented.

You let out a breathe, staying quiet for a while. "We were siblings." He looked at you shocked and confused. "Yeah, I know that you don't remember. I know that it doesn't make sense. But I can't let you risk your life because I tried to give up mine to save it." Landon then raised a hand and put your hair behind your ear.

You felt a little bit weirded out but Hope just watched his every move, knowing Landon would never do that. "So, uh, we have to find another solution. One that doesn't involve you being possessed." You continued.

Landon cupped your cheek. "It's too late." He responded, his eyes glowing red. You then felt a massive push come from Landon. He pushed your head into the locker, causing you to become unconscious and fall onto the fall.

The last thing you heard was Hope yelling your name then a massive thud. After like ten minutes, you woke to Hope shaking you. "Kate." Hope cupped your face, you opened your eyes only for you to shut them quickly as the light from the sun hurt.

You groaned as you got up and grabbed the side of your head. "Oh thank god." Hope pulled you into a hug.

You wrapped your arms around her. "I'm okay. I'm okay." You responded. "Are you okay?" You asked, cupping her face as you both got out of the hug.

She nodded, glad you were okay. "Yeah." She responded.

You took your hands off her face then put one on your head. Alaric walked in and stared wide eyed at you both as he saw you holding your head and Hope in front of you, holding her own. "Are you guys okay?" He questioned.

You both nodded until you heard someone speak. "What happened?" Just then Josie walked in and you all looked over at her.

Alaric looked up at his daughter. "Josie, just give them a second." He calmly responded.

Josie didn't take that for an answer. "But you said you were both gonna help." You and Hope looked over at her. "Were one of you possessed?" She questioned.

Shaking your head you spoke up. "No. Landon was." You stated, wincing as you touched your head.

"That's impossible. How?" Josie practically ordered for you guys to answer her.

Alaric got up and started walking towards his desk. "Uh, we thought Raf was gonna pass the Oni on to somebody at the pep rally." ALaric then lifted the Japanese guys head to see something that made him look disgusted. "Kurutta must've been possessed after Raf attacked him." He then turned the chair around, showing you all his neck was slashed and blood all around it.

You winced as you saw it and looked away, feeling a headache coming. "The Oni waited to be alone with Landon, took control of him and-" Hope didn't get to finish.

Alaric cut her off. "Sayonara, samurai." He stated.

Josie looked at her father. "Okay, well, where would he have gone?" Josie inquired.

You looked up from the ground, groaning in pain. "I mean, my guess is the portal." You stated your guess.

"Well, we don't even know where that is." Josie fired back.

Just then Alaric looked as if he had an idea. "DO you have something of Landons? 'Cause you three could do a locator spell right now." He questioned, you all looking at him.

Josie walked forward as Alaric lifted up a bag. "Yeah, but that's not mine." Josie replied. Hope moved to sit next to you.

Alaric let out a breathe as he searched the bag to see whose it was. "The sheriff must have left this." He stated.

Josie pulled out a letter from her bag and gave it Hope. "Love note?" Hope questioned as she started opening it but it sounded more of a statement.

Josie quickly grabbed it before she could see anything. "That's not for you." Josie stated to Hope.

You moved to sit on the floor so all your hands could connect hands. All of you started chanting so you could do this locator spell.

Josie, Hope and you all ran to where the locator spell took you. As you approached the spot you saw Landon lying on the floor. "Landon!" You called but got no response.

Josie bent down to check on Landon but you all looked over at Lizzie who was tying herself up to a tree. "Lizzie, are you okay?" She questioned her sister.

Lizzie looked at her sister. You and Hope walked forward. "No. I am super crazy." She replied, a forced laugh. "But at least there's a reason this time." Her eyes glowed red. "The demon's in me." She concluded.
